I used the Eastwood soda blaster tank unit and it was well worth the investment as I spread the cost out because I used it on multiple cars. I used to use aircraft stripper but it’s so diluted now and I don’t have the patience.
Call your local dustless blasting guy and have them do the whole truck in an hour. No more mess than you have now. I did a long bed Chevy p.u. it cost me $ 750 and saved me a week worth of work. Plus it looked like new sheet metal and they put a rust prevention solution in the spray. It gave me 3 days to shoot some primer to prevent flash rusting.
Any idea if that stuff is safe for "plastic" bumpers? I know the new stuff isnt anywhere near as good as the old stuff, but people kept just washin the stuff down the drain so what can ya do.
That is a no for me. The product can get into the pores of the metal and cause issues. I will just sand using 220 or 320. Longer work but better control.
Hey Jeff, dont really care for that particular striper. however you did make it work for you, but too much work. Thanks for sharing. Cam can do the other side now. lol
That’s way to tedious for me. I’ve got a 5 gal bucket with a siphon type setup that will sand blast all that. Not for the middle of sheet metal but those panels can handle it. Those strippers or removers can be harsh. But I get you are demonstrating a way to do it. Nice to see it rolling around.
15 yrs ago, the aircraft stripper worked great. We used to strip powder coat with it. Now, since the government got involved, it barely takes paint off.
I’d also go on to say, thanks EPA, so instead of using a really effective product once, now we have to use a much less effective product and use 3 times as much of it.
If I ever do another restoration/refurbishment of a vehicle with paint and rust issues I'm going to look into dipping it. Wire wheeling, blasting, sanding and chemicals a little area at a time has been a chore to say the least.
@@AutoRestoMod Dipping is best if you can immediately get it E-Coated which is what the factories do. I think they dipped in some type of similar stuff back in the day. It does not take long for the body to rust in those hard to reach seams when stripped to bare metal. The problem is that nobody in the states does both at the same place. You have to have it dipped in stripper and them ship it to a place that E-Coats. Very Pricey. I'm surprised nobody does both though.

If you have the dough, yes. But if you are "Logan Broke" chemicals are your friend. Lol
Finally 100,000 subscriptions. Missed when it happened 🎉🎉
We sat there like it was Football night...
Great tip about avoiding seams!!
Thanks!
You’re so close to 100k! 🎉
Soooo close 99977
You’re there! 100k! Congrats! Paul’s Wall will have some new bling on it now! And a birthday gift for wife.
Back about 40 years ago, they had a more viscous paint remover colloquially referred to as…um…”Elephant Snot.”

I used aircraft stripper years ago too.
I couldn't get down to bare metal like that, but I also didn't use some of the other stuff you used.
Right on.

Not like the old days put it on and paint would bubble up and almost slide off
Yes the good ole days.

Try Coopers Strip Club, works almost as good as the old Aircraft remover.
THANKS! I'll look into them!

I don't like dipping personally, I am chasing rust issues FROM the process. Of course it may have been the company, not the process.

Thanks Jeff for the information. It wouldn't let me give 2 cents 😒 lol I tried 😅
It's the new "environmental friendly formula" which means you'll be using 4 times as much.
True. Use to be a gallon was enough to do the whole car.
@@AutoRestoMod Huge Congratulations on 100k Subscribers Jeff, long time coming!!!
Roto tip or a 0 will remove paint real good ask how I know lol
Strippers today just aren’t as good as they were 20 to 30 years ago. Read that however you want. 😂👊🏻
Put it on like you not paid for it
True.
