Not only a unique and brilliant trick, but that he anticipated their expected solution with the most clever ready response I've ever seen! Absolutely in my top 3.
The first season of "FU" for sure, no trophy dropping down.
Jonathan was on for 2 seasons, I believe. 1 (or 2) in England, & then 1 season in Las Vegas.
Just one season in England, though there was a pilot episode before that as well, and indeed, then one in Vegas.
This is my fucking favourite act. Been waiting for this video for so long.
SuchBaklava
Fucking favourite?
Gee, that’s right up there.
Just a true master. Gives me goosebumps to watch that performance.
Background music for the performance is Teardrop by Massive Attack.
If u guys wondered. ;D
Bring back memories of watching House MD
No it's not. It's Darude - Sandstorm.
Nope, Teardrop by Massive Attack.
+NoExitLoveNow it's a meme
Leave it to Miku to tell us about the music ;)
I bought this, and it's insanely clever. It's quite a lot of work to memorise the process, but what an effect. It really *can* do any selected card.
I've yet to perform it, as it really does require a solid amount of work and them constant repetition, but maybe I'll add it to my summer project list.
Mathieu is incredibly creative. Well worth tracking down his lectures, probably more your style.
Chelfyn Baxter What is the name of this trick? Didnt find it right away on his website and I might be intrested in buying it
If eduard says it's OK to reveal the link on the comments section of his site
, I'll do it :)
Chelfyn Baxter Alright :)
Henri Kallioniemi Spreadwave
VJose32 Playing Card Archive Found it! Thanks :)
Mathieu's trick and the cheeky ending is ORESOME!!
O for Oresome!
It’s interesting that Penn calls out the method in the early videos without any code. Performers must have been deterred from appearing with the risk that everyone would know.
i liked it more
Love this trick so so much. Also mad props for the Massive attack song :)
This was seriously one of my favorite magic act on P&T back then.
Damn it the song.... now i have to watch house... massive attack gets me everytime... great trick! Great video. Keep them coming
I miss Jonathan as the host, Allison is ok. But he was a great fit for the show
no kidding, Allison is not in same league as jonathan...she is simple simon.
I remember having to add contact information (a phone number) to the side of a shipping container with a stencil kit...
I could change the the phone number by rearranging the stencils...
You opening trick was nice. I won’t discuss what I saw. Great stuff Bro.
Actually to break it down, if every card could be spelled out with 52 marked cards, he would only need "of diamonds", "of hearts", "of clubs" and "of spades" spelled out so the suits would be easier to manipulate. Most of the work would go into spelling the value of the cards. Also he splits the suits into colours, and the values into high and low, so that probably plays a part in how he manipulates the cards, meaning he has one pattern for red and one pattern for black, one pattern for high and one pattern for low, making his card shuffling easier to follow. So when he starts he has two moves, shuffle the deck into red and shuffle the deck into high, that's two moves, he'd then only have to shuffle the correct suit into diamonds, meaning he only has to remember how to shuffle the cards six times to spell out the chosen card.
So he's displaying edges from three "chunks" of cards separated by "your" "card" "is" cards... one chunk states the value and the other the suit, the chunk in middle always has the "OF" plus some cards he could slight to the left or right chunk of cards if he needs 'em. If every other card is shaved he can spread at least 4-6 different exposed edges and there's yer letters. Remember those trick decks - every other card is shaved so when you flash through in one direction it misses the short cards and shows only Jacks, then when you flip the deck and flip through it looks like a normal deck because your finger doesn't hit any of the shortened Jacks. Same thing here - it's in the spread. Or not. 👀
I think that there are more than 52 cards in his deck. There are many cards left and right of the stripe left that show blank. I think with the right combination of markings on the deck (back and front) it is possible to build every number and the four suits. The three cards that are different from all the others may represent a stack marker for every part that gives 3 or even more words.
Does the trick involve memorization?
The way I see it, even if you knew what he did, it would be impossible to recreate because its mostly the performer that made it possible and the presentation itself it not part of the fool. The cards black bits can be ordered to spell any card combination, but making it work is all in the mind and hands of the performer.
yes it involves memorization, but i got it down in about 2 hours not too bad!
On that first closeup of Teller you can tell he's already a bit lost.
i would likr to give you a little about the opening trick @EduardTodor. when you let the spectator pick a card dont do it face up. I know it helped you with the control you used but showing the 7D and the nearby card was the QH so later changing the Q into 7 is not as great as it could be in my opinion, espesially if spectator is even a little into card magic or just focusing on figuring the trick. i hope you dont mind the feedback i thinl its an interesting trick and i love your work. keep on what you are doing.
Adam :)
That was a cool trick. Loved how he presented it. Would love to see you react to Stuart MacDonald on Fool Us.
your intro trick is pretty much a variation of the only trick i can do :D
Could the "blank" cards be partially printed and the way he counted out, flipped, and then stacked the piles as he pulled out the 3 cards allows him to assemble words for any card?
I’ve got this trick because of his performance it is a great trick
There was a new penn and teller last night and another fooler!
Glad you finally reacted on this one. I was able to figure out how he does it on my own. Often when you figure out a magic trick you can be less impressed by it, but when I did I was impress by how clever it is and how it can produce such a strong effect without a crazy presentation or slight of hand.
A while ago I suggested a magician, Luc Langevin , but I forgot to mention that he did a tv show with Mathieu Bich and Stéphane Bourgoin another illusion creator. The concept of the show was that they had a couple of days to create an illusion based on a challenge given by a celebrity in Québec. Then they have to perform it in front of this celebrity. I'm giving you the link to the show, but it may not be good for your reaction format since each episode are 22 minutes long and it's in french. ici.tou.tv/defier-la-magie/S01E01?lectureauto=1
I forgot how big Penn was. Great video great trick.
Brian Moreno
Huge Penn is.
how big Penn USED to be!, he svelt now and much healthier.
You've got to teach me this opener
I liked the effect at the beginning
I love performing this trick, it always gets an amazing reaction, my only gripe with it is he withholds the rights to perform it on video or tv, when I first started performing it I was asked to come on a local TV Show over here and I knew I wanted to perform it on there, I asked Mathieu if I could perform it and he told me it’s his trick to perform and that he doesn’t want anyone performing it on TV or anywhere online, so I was never able to do that trick on the TV Show, imo though, I doubt that anyone from that TV Show would’ve contacted him in the first place, if you’d like to see the TV Show you can see it here: Close Look TV Show-Spreading the Magic | Matthew Jones-Illusionist/Magician-www.closelook.ca
wow i loved your trick...wish id known this to show it to family and friends...lol
Great intro trick. Presentation needs a bit of work but the effect is fantastic.
Hey, you ever thought about doing a quick tutorial of your effects in the beginning? Not detailed, but just do this move, then this move, etc... LOL!
Lol music in the background is from house m.d tv show
Yo that trick at the bugging of the video I know
Sort of reminds me the feeling behind Unshuffled.
You've got to check out the Todd Lamanske trick from Fool Us.
Also Adam Wilber on Fool Us
What you think of is probably correct but it's very very very complicated 4 side version of it...
Even knowing the method i wouldn't be able to replicate it
for the intro, double lift, sure. but how the actual fuck did you force that riffle
Would love to see you perform your intro trick in a performance setting! Lol it just seemed like you were tired or something and didn't want to do a "performance"..just wanted to show us instead
Nice opening, dude! (+ First!!!)
You should react to Paul Gertner the first time he went on the show
It's a free choice with one exception. The 2.0 version of the trick fixes that flaw, but yeah. Think about his exact words in the selection process and you may figure out what the exception is.
If the third audience member says "high", aces are low.... Still that only reduces the ranks from 13 to 12, so it barely alters how wonderful his technique is.
Man I have performed this type of trick that u did in intro
I'm french, and that accent...
Amazing trick anyway
+Romain Demichelis What about his accent? I don't understand what you mean, sorry.
If he was manipulating the cards with the other three he'd have to have memorised 52 completely different configurations of marked cards to spell out the chosen card. That sounds a bit far fetched to me, but hey, some of these guys are genius.
Can you plz react to an ha lim,s fism act??
When magicians sell their tricks, I'm kind of torn about wanting to buy it. Yeah, some might think it would be cool to know how to do a trick...but, and I know this sounds kind of lame, sometimes...I don't want to know because the trick looks cool and I don't want to ruin it by learning how it's done.
Is the song in the background the theme of house?
Dang I really want to know how you did the intro trick, what’s the name of the trick?
8:30 Bien joue!!!! Hilarious!
You should react to Dan Harlan on Fool Us
(if you haven't already)
does he have a second box?
Bich Lasagne
got'em good
This is hard to explain for me but I always find magic the best when there is sort of an solution presented that is just not quite possible. Like the box in this trick. Without the box the trick gets to unbelievable for me. So for me the box is actually needed in this trick. It kinda tricks Penn here, he thinks it has to do something with them but logically, there can't be enough decks in the box.
Qubie1
Penn didn't think there were 52 decks, he just thought there were more cards with letters. The deck used has the cards necessary to spell any card.
I know, that's what I like about it. It invites you to think of certain solutions and they are impossible or proven wrong.
I do have an idea after thinking about it how it works roughly, but then there's also cutting the deck precisely. Awesome trick.
That musik nummer. Please !!!! Name
Does anyone realize the music in the dudes trick is from house md
Hi Bich
There is a very easy way that trick can be done.
However, I would guess if he is selling it - it isn't the way I thought of. But it could still be done that way.
it can be done with any card
I can come up with a way to show any suite in words, but that's all. However, the way he did it, wouldn't work with my idea.
bro make reaction videos for demian magic failed in sctv awards viral now in indonesia
The ball is red, it is.
I hardly can wait for the braces to come off.
also, how can you jiu-jitsu with braces? can't be easy.
I don't think he does it with his mouth! :P
TheBaconWizard lol
He probably wears a mouthpiece
Unless he's biting his training partners or he's training with jerks who're framing him in the mouth, he should be fine.
I think its about $60bucks on the Magicians website to purchase, but requires a lot of dedication and memory to master....like most awesome illusions! :)
its 40
Please react Demian Aditya wrong magic..accident of Demian!!
Pronounced BEESH.
Why does he sound so bland in the intros :l
This is so old bro 😂
