    Not only a unique and brilliant trick, but that he anticipated their expected solution with the most clever ready response I've ever seen! Absolutely in my top 3.

    I bought this, and it's insanely clever. It's quite a lot of work to memorise the process, but what an effect. It really *can* do any selected card.
    I've yet to perform it, as it really does require a solid amount of work and them constant repetition, but maybe I'll add it to my summer project list.
    Mathieu is incredibly creative. Well worth tracking down his lectures, probably more your style.

    It’s interesting that Penn calls out the method in the early videos without any code. Performers must have been deterred from appearing with the risk that everyone would know.

  • @classicmail8239

    Actually to break it down, if every card could be spelled out with 52 marked cards, he would only need "of diamonds", "of hearts", "of clubs" and "of spades" spelled out so the suits would be easier to manipulate. Most of the work would go into spelling the value of the cards. Also he splits the suits into colours, and the values into high and low, so that probably plays a part in how he manipulates the cards, meaning he has one pattern for red and one pattern for black, one pattern for high and one pattern for low, making his card shuffling easier to follow. So when he starts he has two moves, shuffle the deck into red and shuffle the deck into high, that's two moves, he'd then only have to shuffle the correct suit into diamonds, meaning he only has to remember how to shuffle the cards six times to spell out the chosen card.

  • @cuda426hemi
    @cuda426hemi 4 місяці тому

    So he's displaying edges from three "chunks" of cards separated by "your" "card" "is" cards... one chunk states the value and the other the suit, the chunk in middle always has the "OF" plus some cards he could slight to the left or right chunk of cards if he needs 'em. If every other card is shaved he can spread at least 4-6 different exposed edges and there's yer letters. Remember those trick decks - every other card is shaved so when you flash through in one direction it misses the short cards and shows only Jacks, then when you flip the deck and flip through it looks like a normal deck because your finger doesn't hit any of the shortened Jacks. Same thing here - it's in the spread. Or not. 👀

  • @markushavers2283
    @markushavers2283 6 років тому

    I think that there are more than 52 cards in his deck. There are many cards left and right of the stripe left that show blank. I think with the right combination of markings on the deck (back and front) it is possible to build every number and the four suits. The three cards that are different from all the others may represent a stack marker for every part that gives 3 or even more words.

  • @johnharambethe2nd226
    @johnharambethe2nd226 6 років тому +3

    Does the trick involve memorization?
    The way I see it, even if you knew what he did, it would be impossible to recreate because its mostly the performer that made it possible and the presentation itself it not part of the fool. The cards black bits can be ordered to spell any card combination, but making it work is all in the mind and hands of the performer.

    • @draymonddream1316

    i would likr to give you a little about the opening trick @EduardTodor. when you let the spectator pick a card dont do it face up. I know it helped you with the control you used but showing the 7D and the nearby card was the QH so later changing the Q into 7 is not as great as it could be in my opinion, espesially if spectator is even a little into card magic or just focusing on figuring the trick. i hope you dont mind the feedback i thinl its an interesting trick and i love your work. keep on what you are doing.

    Glad you finally reacted on this one. I was able to figure out how he does it on my own. Often when you figure out a magic trick you can be less impressed by it, but when I did I was impress by how clever it is and how it can produce such a strong effect without a crazy presentation or slight of hand.
    A while ago I suggested a magician, Luc Langevin , but I forgot to mention that he did a tv show with Mathieu Bich and Stéphane Bourgoin another illusion creator. The concept of the show was that they had a couple of days to create an illusion based on a challenge given by a celebrity in Québec. Then they have to perform it in front of this celebrity. I'm giving you the link to the show, but it may not be good for your reaction format since each episode are 22 minutes long and it's in french. ici.tou.tv/defier-la-magie/S01E01?lectureauto=1

    I love performing this trick, it always gets an amazing reaction, my only gripe with it is he withholds the rights to perform it on video or tv, when I first started performing it I was asked to come on a local TV Show over here and I knew I wanted to perform it on there, I asked Mathieu if I could perform it and he told me it’s his trick to perform and that he doesn’t want anyone performing it on TV or anywhere online, so I was never able to do that trick on the TV Show, imo though, I doubt that anyone from that TV Show would’ve contacted him in the first place, if you’d like to see the TV Show you can see it here: Close Look TV Show-Spreading the Magic | Matthew Jones-Illusionist/Magician-www.closelook.ca

    This is hard to explain for me but I always find magic the best when there is sort of an solution presented that is just not quite possible. Like the box in this trick. Without the box the trick gets to unbelievable for me. So for me the box is actually needed in this trick. It kinda tricks Penn here, he thinks it has to do something with them but logically, there can't be enough decks in the box.

    • @QargZer
      @QargZer 6 років тому

      Qubie1
      Penn didn't think there were 52 decks, he just thought there were more cards with letters. The deck used has the cards necessary to spell any card.

    • @Qubie1
      @Qubie1 6 років тому

      I know, that's what I like about it. It invites you to think of certain solutions and they are impossible or proven wrong.
      I do have an idea after thinking about it how it works roughly, but then there's also cutting the deck precisely. Awesome trick.
