Great videos for DIY diagnosis. After replacing the accelerometer last year, machine is experiencing same issue again. After running test 14 I started checking voltages & discovered the factory cord was manufactured incorrectly as the power is coming in on the neutral leg more than likely causing the inverter to fail. Replaced the plug on the cord & correctly wired it & replaced inverter & all go now

Hi Scott, how did it help fix the actual problem? I did both the slow spin and fast spin tests as shown in this video (which is great, thanks Ben!) and the drum would tumble but do NOTHING on the spin. There were no sounds or other indications like a motor was trying to spin which I think rules out both the motor and belt since the drum moved fine in the tumble portion of the tests. What was your ultimate fix?

Great video! My wife decided to wash some plush bathroom rugs..the washer stopped spinning, I thought here we go $900 for a new washer, watched the video, seen the pump filter part. “ i never knew what that little door was for” I followed your steps and seen the filter completely gunked and covered with plush rug.. cleaned the filter, tried a load of clothes.. works perfect! I have a similar GE front load washer. To access the error codes and the test functions, the service sheet says to hold the power button and turn the dial 180 degrees. I found that this requires rotating the dial for 6 cycles as there are 12 cycles on the dial. Other videos say to rotate for 8 clicks, but sometimes it takes two clicks to get to the next cycle. It’s better to count the cycles (including the beginning cycle). Release the power button and all the lights will flash and you will enter into test mode. Just rotate the dial to get to the test you want to use.

Read this if your unit only spins for 5 seconds and ends the cycle after a few minutes. Run test 14 and 26 for confirmation that the unit doesn’t spin more than 5 seconds and ends the cycle early. Reset all of the faults on test 16. Power off the unit, run the rinse and spin cycle, but turn off rinse before starting to prevent water from dispensing. The unit should fail again. Run the troubleshoot mode again for a fault. If Test Code 3 only shows, it most likely will be the inverter board. The board is on the bottom left of the front of the unit, so it’s easily accessible after you remove the front panel of the unit. You’ll need to unscrew a screw that holds the housing in place and slide the housing container out towards you. Replace the board and you should be good to go! Good luck. Fixed my unit in 1.5 hours. You can purchase the board from the GE Appliances part store online.

I assume you got appliances and we'd love to hear what you got and how you like them. If anyone else is wondering, pretty much every brand seems to be content with one or more completely unfit-for-purpose appliances... GE's front loaders are pretty awesome, but their top loaders have gearboxes made of chalk and their dishwashers seem to love to melt the wheels off the lower trolley. Frigidaire makes a decent range but couldn't figure out how to reliably make ice in the middle of antarctica and their dishwashers are straight up e-waste. Samsung makes really pretty appliances but they're kinda a gamble on reliability. Bosch is about the only mainstream brand that seems to actually care what they sell, but they also kinda gouge on their fridges for example, which are made by midea IIRC, although Bosch dishwashers are so legendary you should probably get one regardless of what every other appliance is in your house. LG is about the only brand that's reasonably priced, perform well (especially their laundry - LG front loaders are about as legendary as Bosch's dishwashers) and *fairly* reliable - although they've had their share of issues with the linear compressor fridges, they seem to be pretty good these days.

I have had an issue with my unit 3 weeks ago that started right after a power outage. Had Technician scheduled to come and look at it. Got up the next morning after running several tests for the bigger part of the night and it worked like nothing had happened. I did say door on the display when I got up the next morning. Open and closed the door and the unit works fine until yesterday. Unit will sometimes fill with water, sometimes will not depending on the cleaning cycle selected. I am thinking a faulty main board, but I could be wrong. Also there was another power interruption yesterday just like the previous time. I don't understand why that would cause these issues. I plan to run some of these tests tomorrow afternoon before work to try and figure out what is causing the issue. Seems like it would be something with the door lock, but it locks every time and won't let me open it before the cycle starts. I am confused by this machine. I will probably never purchase another GE appliance after this. It replaced an 11 year old LG that still worked just had a leaking door gasket. Should have replaced the door gasket and kept the LG. Frustrating for sure. Thanks for the great video. Keep up the good work. Sorry for the long post. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this same issue and if the cause was determined.
