She actually is describing the way I felt about them when I first heard them perfectly. Y’all listen to buried alive, and she will get it. That’s the song that got me hooked.
At 1st disliked the band 4 the same reason too. Now my favorite.
@@pookybear971 Me too. They played so far away at my best friends funeral last year. Synyster Gates is one of the best guitar players out right now.
Both my wife and I were the same, then we saw them live and we used a song for our first dance at our wedding
I'm not gonna lie. The whole "The Stage" album is incredible. Full stop.
I was literally about to say the same thing. she describes them very well. Metal and rocking one minute and popish the next. I just never could really get into them even though I do listen to em some.
I interpret this song as a cautionary tale. It’s about a man who made bad/evil choices in life and is now living his worst nightmare--he’s on his way to hell for eternity.
I think this song is literally just a horror comic in song form. No real deeper meaning, just kind of thematic and fun. That's just me, though.
Edit: I think I confused this song with another A7X song. It's been a while haha
They made this song in contrast to Afterlife. You can see some imagery from the Afterlife music video in the Nightmare one. From the spider and the Rev, to Zach dancing with the skeleton, and others.
@@FandangoHoward yeah, that's ALPoH. Not Nightmare.
I agree. I think it's supposed to be thought to be being sung by a devil or demon or something.
Yall, this song is about the "nightmare" of loosing thier drummer. The whole album is.
Y’all should check out their song “So Far Away” they wrote it after the passing of their drummer. It’s not as heavy, but such an amazing song. And you can hear more of M. Shadow’s voice
They watched it during the live stream and loved it. I think it might have been their favorite from the band.
@Exotic Hillz damn that adds so much layer to the song
I was thinking they should do a little piece of heaven...... just me? Okay. 🤣🤣
@@xxshatteredmetalxx we tried to get that played on the Halloween stream, but too many people voted for boomer hair and glam metal garbage.
Next Avenged Sevenfold :
- Critical Acclaim
- Afterlife
- Almost Easy
- Seize The Day
- So Far Away
- Dear God
- A Little Peace Of Heaven
I'd be most curious to see them react to "A Little Piece Of Heaven". The official video. :0
Why do people insist on “A Little Peace of Heaven” for newbies lmao although at least you have it near the bottom of that list so it’s not one of the songs they here immediately after this
may as well do the album bruh, you got 1/2 right there
Yes finally someone with critical acclaim on a list. People never react to it and it’s such a bad ass song!
Can't leave out A7X Hail To The King! I love that song, as well...
Brad with the lyric breakdown and, dare I say, rocking out at the same time. Progress is being made.
Haha that's what I just said. 😆
He's coming around & knows he likes rock & metal!
Yep 🤟
Lex dancing along when she gets into the song is perfect. She should never stop that, though Brad's imitation was great.
Brad's starting to come around.
I think with Lex's enthusiasm, that it's contagious & is rubbing off on him.
I see him bobbing back & forth, nodding that head.
He knows he likes rock & metal! 😆✊🏼🎸🤘🏼🇺🇸
Fancy seeing you here! Love your vids!!
This song's drum track was written by their drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan prior to his untimely death, but he didn't get a chance to record it before he'd passed and the band had Mike Portnoy from "Dream Theater" playing the drums when they recorded this song and Portnoy was offered to appear in the video, but turned it down, as it was relatively soon after Rev had passed
Also, talking about the Rev's addiction to I believe heroin
I didn't know that. That's pretty badass, Portnoy is a monster
Buried alive or so far away, both great songs to listen to next and shows more variety they do too 🔥
Synyster Gates on the guitar never dissappointed.
A few others of theirs I like:
Afterlife
Almost Easy
Unholy Confessions
She would love Unholy Confessions i think
Definitely unholy confession
Also include:
"The Beast And The Harlot"
Blinded In Chains
Bat Country
Seize The Day
Hail To The King
Second heartbeat would be a good one as well 😎😎
Definitely some older tracks
A lot of A7X's song are "all over the place" To me, it makes them have an epic feel. Not epic as in the overused term, but epic as in taking you on a journey. Try save me by them next. My favorite song by my favorite band
Fiction, Tonight the world dies, Natural Born Killer, far away... And the list goes on and on
they're touching on prog with it being "all over the place". I guess it stands to reason since they have the prog masters Dream Theater's drummer, one of the best drummers in the world, Mike Portnoy laying down the drum track on this particular A7X song. Anyway time for some Twelve Foot Ninja _"One Hand Killing"_ or _"Coming For You"_ and let's see what they make of those changes
Listen to Buried Alive or Save Me off this same album!
These guys' albums are like rock operas. You wont be disappointed listening to any or all of their songs.
Their ability to harmonize and the quality of their melodies come across very operatic.
Brad's breaking down the lyrics and Lex's breaking down the music and the couch! 🤣
the thing the young lady is talking about is called the music being "progressive" - basically, the music changing between a bunch of different "vibes" as y'all would say.
Some of the best guitar players in modern rock. Love their heaviness and melodies combinations
HOWDY FROM NEW ENGLAND...THIS SONG IS ABOUT THEIR LATE DRUMMER THE REV WHO DIED OF AN O.D. IN 2009 WHILE THEY WERE RECORDING THIS ALBUM....RIP TO THE REV...A TRUE GOAT INDEED...PEACE FROM THE NORTHEAST...
When it comes to A7X, they have a lot nuance and intracies in their song meanings, it's never as black and white lyrically.
Couple this with how amazing Matt's voice is, so diverse and his screams and growls to clean vocals never fails to amaze me, to Syns insane guitar solos and in general, to of course The Rev, it might take a few more songs for you guys to fully immerse into the band but once you do it's a phenomenal trip through euphoric music with badass riffs, solo's, drumming and vocals !
You guys could consider Seize the Day, Beast and the Harlot, So Far Away, Dear God, Critical Acclaim, Save Me, Fiction amd eventually A Little Piece of Heaven !
Great breakdown guys !
I literally have no clue what she’s referring to about this band. A7X absolutely slaps. Their song writing and story telling, and guitar work is some of the best out there right now.
Right now? This song is like 20 yrs old
@@roberthenson120 You do know…they still make music, correct?
Please do The Stage by them next, with lyrics!
definitely ! the video and the song are legendary
I love your reactions! I cant get enough of them. Good work both of you 💚
One of my late husband's favorite bands. I needed this today, thank you
The opening drums of this song will for ever be known as the shining moments of the song. An absolute masterpiece at building this song up.
This is one of my favorite A7X songs! Glad you loved it!!
This was the song that got me into rock metal 😂😂 never looked back, been on my playlist since
Glad you enjoy them. Seeing them live is experience you never will forget. One of my fav bands ❤️
You have to do " So Far Away" The song written for their drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan who died prior to the Nightmare album. Its not all crazy, just a beautiful song and video. You have to do the official video to get the full effect.
Great song.... The Rev was awesome!
If you do more "Avenged Sevenfold - Hail To The King" is definitely a must.
They’ve got so so many songs better than HTTK tho.
Hail to the king!!
@@puppetmaster8551 that whole hail to the king album is great
@@michaeltubbs8171 that’s honestly by far my least favorite album from them, it’s just so generic and boring compared to their other stuff which is super creative and fresh, I think they were really missing the Rev and his big role in the songwriting process, once they got Brooks he was the missing piece they needed with the Rev being gone and then they came out with the stage which is extremely creative and far far more technically impressive. I like some songs on HTTK like planets and Shepherd of fire but I rarely return to that album compared to their other stuff.
@@puppetmaster8551 yeah man. We all have our personal choices. I like the lyrical content and the topics on hail to the king. Don’t get me wrong, I have some songs off of different albums that I think are lit but I just like Hail to the King as a whole body of work on one disk. Have a good one and keep jamming
I seriously enjoy watching her vibe to the songs!
So, this entire album was done after the death of their childhood friend and bandmate, drummer extraordinaire, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. The drummer from Dream Theater, Mike Portnoy, whom the Rev was a huge fan of, agreed to play the drums for this album.
React to the Video for So Far Away, which is all about it. Great emotional song.
These guys are always on point🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great reaction guys! This is really is an amazing band with a lot of great songs. I'd highly recommend "buried alive" next.
They are a fantastic band to see live! Highly recommend it if you have the chance. Great energy and they sound awesome.
A7X is one of my FAVORITES!! I see them every time they have a concert in Chicago..Syn on the guitar is pure brilliance and Matt's vocals warm my soul..Hail to the king is a good one with another great guitar solo and Shepard of fire is another favorite I would recommend! Loved your reaction!!!🤙🤙
Great reaction! Im ready for an iPrevail live stream!!
love you guys ty
🤘😎 Great Reaction
Allegaeon “Proponent for Sentience III
Allegaeon “Gray Matter Mechanics “
pretty sure Lex is like my spirit animal. 🤘 Im surprised you guys didnt d "A little piece of heaven" dont get distracted by the video the music is impressive.
my favorite band ever *-* thank you
Buried Alive was awesome live when seeing them live at Hellfest, and good lyrical video also
Saw them with Metallica and Volbeat. Great lineup
The whole Nightmare album is AMAZING! Great band all around.
Planets Collide is fn awesome!!
Literally first! Love A7X and this song. It’s about the sad demise of their drummer Jimmy Sullivan due to a drug overdose.
RIP The Rev
Ummm, no. This song was written before Jimmy passed away. You can find videos of him playing the drum parts in the studio. The Nightmare album was originally going to be a concept album, focusing on the consequences of living an evil life. The only song on the record that was written after Jimmy died was So Far Away.
@@__Philip__311 so far away is the best song on the album, without a doubt.
I love her!!!! You rock!
MOREEE PLEASE
Lex's reaction to the beginning was perfect and is exactly why I liked the intro the first time I heard it.
It is a good message brad... I'm with you.
I’d love to see what they think of so far away its so different lol
A7X is best experienced at FULL volume.
"It's too PoPpY" I lost it.
Saw them play this live. Stage was dark right, right as the main hit a guy “hangs” himself right above the band and hangs thru the whole song. Wicked intense and a hell of a way to start the show! Awesomeness
Basically "you" made your soul weak by listening to the masses , and now you've made it easy for darkness to steal... live your reactions this is the 2nd 1 I've watched and I subbed immediately.
Speaking from experience, she gets on his nerves but deep down he loves it and couldn’t live without it.
One of my favorites of A7x, another is from the same record named “Welcome to the Family.” Lex, if you want to get lit af….listen to that song ASAP! Saw them in concert at the Cajundome in Lafayette (LA) when they were touring for the “Nightmare” album. They put on one of the best stage performances that I’ve ever seen.
Dude, me and my little bro were at that same concert! Ended up seeing them 3 more times after that…
Nice, that show was sick!
Buried Alive should definitely be your next A7X song!
A little piece of heaven 🤘
Next A7X song you gotta do is “save me” one of their best masterpieces between instrumentation and lyrical content IMO
My favorite of theirs 👍🏼
That is definitely a xylophone at the beginning. The music store i taught guitar at for 16 years had one. I used to play this intro on it all the time.
love the reaction whenu realized the solo was about to happen
I love all the reactions. Could you do corrosion of conformity Clean my Wounds. Lex will LOVE it
Love that you guys are from st. louis, i grew up in the 618, Carbondale IL not far from all. MIDWEST SWANNNNNG YA'LLLL!!!!
Ha! Brad is like “okay” while Lex is JAMMIN OVER THERE. Like. Loving it.
I think she has a new band.
Avenged Sevenfold - Hail to the King
The lead guitar in this song is practically a solo all the way through.
"they build you up then drop you off a cliff" way true
Gotta listen to the stage!!
Oh awesome A7X!!!!
The stage by Avenge is a must, has such a hidden meaning
Judas Priest - Painkiller. Please I want to see your reaction to Rob Halford’s singing! Judas Priest is a little more out there but they are a metal classic nonetheless.
Lex flows with the music
The song is about depression. It talks about the voices telling fictions and self-assassination. Nobody to call and everybody to fear.
This makes me feel like you guys would like Ice Nine Kills. That band is killer! Grave Mistake and IT is the End are awesome to dive into
I feel like A7X is the a modernized Iron Maiden, which is my all time favorite band.
Brad: "You gotta stop enjoying the song so much and just enjoy the song".
the end of the music video legit makes me cry every time..
you are how i feel everyday about these guys its like the first time every time for me
I would have enjoyed taking a college class with Brad. To go over our individual thoughts on lectures and see how the material makes sense in relation to our individual worldviews. One of those dudes who inspire you to think. Keep doing what you guys are doing.
Addiction is literal hell. This is written from the POV of the tormenters, the demons. It's an expression of how inescapable it all seems. This whole album is about the downward spiral of The Rev, and how in the end he felt he could not escape. And so the picture is literal hell. The demons dance all around you and mock and torment you.
Notice the bridge, "they took for granted your soul." It's an indictment on the bandmates for not finding him in that hell and getting him out. It's a horribly sad song, but it's a warning to be on guard, watch out for your friends. You are your brothers keeper. #foREVer
You have to react to Critical Acclaim. The late amazing drummer, the Rev, lays down some killer vocals. Lex will love this one!!
I love this band
Another good one to react to would be any song from Live in the LBC.
buried alive, sieze the day, afterlife, a little piece of heaven, unholy confessions.
You guys should listen to Dream Theater! the drummer played on this album (Nightmare, 2010) after A7X's drummer (Jimmy The Rev) died.
I recommend Fatal Tragedy, part of a conceptual album about a guy who gets to regression therapy to find out the meaning of the dreams that torment him.
The lyrics are great for Brad and the band are insanely virtuosos and mix metal with prog rock and orchestra, even ragtime music for Lex who loves solos.
Their original drummer, Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan lost his battle with addiction and this song depicts his nightmare. It can be interpreted many ways. I played it for our high school Sunday school class, yes even with the f word, and let them interpret it and discussed how many choices we have everyday that could lead to a nightmare. Such an amazing band!
I like how when there is an instrumental section Lex gets excited and looks at Brad but he's just like... I need words...
Hey Guys! Another great reaction but most of all i love your interaction. You´re so funny to watch :D A7X are probably my fav band. It would be great to watch you reating to "Buried Alive" (in my opinion their masterpiece) or "The Stage" (strong video and message and a great composition as well). Cheers! Love ya :)
I think her analyzing the musicality and you analyzing the lyrics works well. That way we get a broader opinion. This band is in so many ways amazing, its easy to miss their talent.
Hell yeah! A7X kicks ass
The visions & nightmares are real, I pray everyday & night I never go back to the insanity ☠️☠️☠️
After 13 years I still get them...as a reminder
The bell sounds at the beginning are from a toy glockenspeil that Shadows had at home. They tried using a professional version, but didn't like the sound as much as from the toy.
Puts a smile on my face to see Brad appreciate my favorite band 🤘🤘
For Brad, try out Fiction. It's the Rev's, the drummer of Avenged, final song... The band says he didn't commit suicide, accidently overdoes was the official cause of death, but to me Fiction is a good-bye unlike any other 😭
One of my favs lol
Great reaction. If you want to see how creative this band can be check out "a little piece of heaven" If you wanna headbang check out something like "Beast in the Harlott" or "Critical Acclaim"
Lol she is right I was weird about how he sounded but it grows more u hear him more it grows. But yeah the instruments are out of this world. My number one rock band. They way they change sound so much it’s great.
Avenged sevenfold "hail to the king" is one of my favorites. Lex will love it
synyster gates brought back solos to modern rock after the whole grunge phase. hands down one of my favorite guitarists.
Lmao her reaction is priceless
Shepherd of Fire is my favorite. The Stage is also a good one.
You need to listen to Buried Alive by ASF. When the guitar kicks in in the middle, the riff is so sick gives me chills
If you guys love the orchestral part of this you guys will LOOOOOVE The Wicked End. One of my all time favorite songs by them
See, as a lifetime heavy metal & prog rock fan, Bat Country was the very first A7X song I ever heard and I instantly loved it. I soon became a huge fan. The complicated and intricate time changes and raw power of it caught me off guard. If you want to experience the birth and growth of a metal band first hand, listen to the first 3 or 4 A7X albums in succession. Its a pure display of a rough and raw 1st try, with screamed vocals and more punk-like, simplistic, garage band vibe. Second album your already getting cues of what's to come, bits of trial singing and a bit more intricate composing and by #3 they hit you with stuff like Bat Country, Beast and the Harlot and Sieze the Day, a huge popular radio hit for them. Great Band
