  • OK so today we took off the rear hub assembly from our 2004 Ford Explorer and we were going to replace the hub we could not use our press to press out the hub because we couldn’t fit it in the machine so we cut it out with our torches. I hope the video is helpful and makes you decide to take it to the repair shop and have it replaced have a great day thank you very much.

Would it be easier just to replace the whole assembly??

Always easier but not cheaper..... Unfortunately these have the same problem on just about every one of them so the likelihood of you getting a good one is not very good sorry I wish I had better news for you

I just took my 06 Mountaineer in for rear wheel bearings and they will only do it by replacing the entire assembly (hub, bearing, knuckle) which is sold that way by Ford and probably some aftermarket outfits.
