However, if you are driving a CDL (over 26k or over 15 passenger) vehicle with air brakes, such as a semi truck, that requires a CDL with an air brake endorsement. If the vehicle is under 26k weight rating, it's under CDL. Any truck trailer combination up to 26k combined is under CDL. Also under CDL is a truck, such as a chip truck with a weight rating of 26k or less towing a chipper or small trailer of 10k or less. Most people don't know about the later category being under CDL, but I've done my research and it is.
