Don't feel bad man....I didn't tighten one of the clamps enough and my cold side hose popped off while testing it and the car shut off. Thankfully I had my socket set in the car to re re-attach it
Happened to my fk7 after I had just installed the gtx2860r. I was doing a 3rd gear WOT pull for datalog and I heard a loud pop, I thought I blew my motor but it was just a cold side coupler that came out.
A lot of times home installs don’t go to plan, you just gotta learn from the experience and get back under the hood and do some more research and find the solution. At the end of the day it’s your car and you don’t need to feel bad because of what other people say. Keep your head up Cam! I know you’ll get it fixed man.

Always a good day when Cameron posts a video. The best teacher is a failure, don't become discouraged🤟🏽. I also experienced issues when installing new parts, but it's part of the process; gotta love it. It only makes the installation more rewarding when the bugs are sorted out. Keep up the 🔥 vids.
You should always use T-bolt clamps on boost hoses. Those clamps will loosen over time. Some people use hair spray between the joints to hold the pipes. Hope this info helps.
Good effort there and thanks for the vid. The aftermarket modding community really does need to quit it with the charge pipes though. A stock charge pipe is absolutely adequate while the turbo is still stock. I've noticed the charge pipe upgrades start getting really popular in the past five years or so. It's a scam.
This made me to have a flash back when I went ahead and installed an angel halo front lights for my 2015 BMW 328i, and it was a nightmare. Yes, it was not a charge pipe like what you were doing (I'm super impressed about how well you've went through the installation process by the way) and doesn't require too much disassembly, but man I had to take the entire weekend just to install it. I could have hired someone to do it, but they would charge me 180 bucks for it. I'm like, "I can do this!" It was fun project though not going to lie! You are doing a great job Cam! Keep it up!

lol bro, I feel this! My charge pipes were always popping off! Lol hated that shit. Anytime I would lose boost, I knew the NPT on the pipe blew off or a coupler blew off. Thankfully it wasn’t as bad to change bc you didn’t have all the plastic under the car, so it was easily accessible.
@@Dragonfly_Jones yeah I can't remember the name of the upper IC pipe I had for that car . But the fitment was horrible lol. I had to grind the shit out of the ends to get it right or it was boost leak city.
Smoke test> hair spray xtra hold for every time you remove the charge pipes. It's an oldschool method for sealing dry leaks. Also clamps have to be dead nuts straight. If you have it off it'll leak. If you're doing intercooler/pipping/turbo swap smoke test is highly recommended. You also have non t-clamps. Wyrm clamps fail.
I had mine pop off 3 time after installing, testing it down the road. Definetly test near your home so you can limp back, or have a tool handy. Had the hotside and cold side pop off with 25psi tune on my SI. Didnt shut off, but struggled, smelled awful.
magnetic sockets are a life saver when you got a bolt in a tight spot that is known for dropping in the engine bay. and for the rubber couplers, i like to get some clean engine oil on my finger and smear it around the inside to lubricate it , makes install easy

Working on modern cars definitely invest in some 1/4 in tools, much easier to get to fasteners with smaller tools. Good job working with what you have and in that heat couldn’t be me😅.
Replacing the throttle body coupler is the biggest benefit of that kit. By far the highest failure point of the intercooler piping. I went with the 27Won Boost Tubes because I wasn't comfortable installing that many pipes lol. The boost tubes replace the throttle body coupler and the hot and cold pipes off the end takes only. Second guessing if I should have done the PRL kit
I didnt do the hot side either because for one the clamp was not in a place i could get to. Also the pipe looked the exact same size as the prl pipe. That being said i left hot side oem lol.
Happened to me in my 2017 crv, luckily I had a tool bag with me, fixed it in a grocery store parking lot with all these people looking at me as they passed by.

Everyone, and I mean everyone who's new to doing charge pipes. Pops a coupler or had a clamp shift on them. It happens lol. Especially when you're seeing 20+psi. That's a decent amount of pressure. If things were not aligned perfectly or tightened down just right. Pop. I blew a few couplers on my MK7 after changing out my charge pipes. Several times. Took a few tries and some hair spray on the outer edge of the pipes to help keep it there. Issue free since. Don't beat yourself up over it lol

Installed a PRL cai on my 10th gen a few weeks ago and I kept smelling something. Pulled off the plastic on the opposite side of where the filter goes and a massive dead rat fell out lol.

Idk if you’ve reached out to John yet but he recommended wrench masters out in St Pete after I was having issues with my head. Honda ended up helping me out but the guys at wrench masters I’ve heard do really good work

I'll tell you the full story next meet I see ya at but Vega recommended taking my car to Wrench Masters when Honda was trying to charge me WAY more than what it should have been. Everything I watch everyone wants the Cobra intake I just ordered the conversion kit to take mine from a short ram intake to the Cobra I take but mine being a Canadian civic I have to also do the USDM relocate kit for the washer fluid tank to put it on the passengers side, so that the Cobra air box and filter will fit as in cnanadian civics the washer tank is on the drivers side. you dont really need aftermarket charge pipes for pulls on the fwy.. they really only have issues if you are lets say.. ON TRACK and consistently full throttle for 20-25 mins straight doing 8 laps.. its really necessary... just sayin..
Does anyone have an opinion on how much power the stock charge pipe setup is good for? I have the PRL intake and intercooler and the phearable stage 2 tune. So probably around 375-380 whp but I still have the stock charge pipe. Thoughts?
Im pretty sure you can still use the stock charge pipes even on a flex fuel tune. Probably around 450whp is when you want upgraded charge pipes. But im no professional, thats just my guess

Just get a tune. Nothing else

I just did my intercooler I didn't think the cost and installation of charge pipes were worth it with a stock turbo.

I would perform a boost leak test and use t-bolt clamps. Your turbo would be more pronounced if you had a boost leak from intercooler piping
Make sure you remove the oil filler cap when you do it.

You should have slapt in the Acuity Cable Bushings while you had the intake out. Well worth the money.

You can use a small amount of assembly lube to lubricate the silicone hoses.
Those ducts in the front bumper on the bottom are not active aero. They are for brake cooling.

@@Camhill182 Turbo inlet is tricky you need an extension + swivel to get to one of the bolt.

@@Slowcarfastbeans 36k for a Type R with almost 100k miles is a VERY bad deal. Car was probably abused for almost all 100k miles too. I say get a new BRZ in the highest trim and abuse it yourself.
