Also, the episode The Doctor's Wife is about the TARDIS
Not River, who is (was? what does "'til death do us part" mean for a time traveller?) literally and legally his wife (though the fact Rory didn't know what he was consenting too means he didn't actually consent but whatever)
@@SuperHeroStoriesUnlimited the 4th Doctor banished Sutekh and in the comics it was found the he landed in the void then in the 60th “Wild Blue Yonder” the Tardis Found itself on the Edge of the Universe, After that moment the TARDIS was making a Horrible Groaning noise til the episode
So are we all gonna ignore the fact that Sutekh ripped the time vortex open?
I was just going to bring that up. I mean, what's the point of saving the universe when you've torn holes in time and space to do it?
Tbh I think that was just to visualise what Sutekh was doing bringing death to death destroying this time line idk bc the dust of death is still there so.
It's fiiiiiiiiine
@@dreaorealAh but the timeline wasn't "destroyed" the damage of Sutekh's dust of death was undone in the same timeline.
Are we going to ignore that the vortex looks just like in Matt Smith's era?
I've seen so many clips of all the times something has happened to the tardis now edited with sutekh lol
Its so funny frr
the threatening presence of Sutekh was absent in this episode, it should feel like the characters are completely powerless when they are in the room with him and he is in a position of absolute control. the impression he left on the audience in pyramids of mars was enough to last decades.
I disagree. The protagonists felt pretty damn powerless right up to the point when the Doctor LITERALLY took Sutekh for walkies.
@@TheBermudaMan yeah I was trying not to laugh when the doctor put a lead/leash on him and took him for walkies in the time vortex
Really? I was pretty underwhelmed with Pyramids. The most we saw from his power was him hurting Four with a green light.... As soon as Sutekh got free, Four trapped him in the tunnel. He barely did anything. All we heard was a lot of this and that about what he COULD do, but he barely did anything besides mind control some people and talk menacingly.
In Empire of Death he killed the universe in minutes. Idk how someone can claim that this version is weaker.
I don't think Sutekh really worked without his humanoid form.
@@Thief555WWJD I agree
Leashing the God of Death and dragging his ass through the time vortex might the most baller thing the Doctor has ever done
This episode sucked monkey nuts.
I know right? I don't know why people find this defeat unsatisfying, to be able to say the Doctor did this is 100x more badass than "The Oncoming Storm" which was already pretty badass
@Sidus666 Because it makes Sutekh, someone who has psychokinetic abilities and the power to mind control people on a whim, look like a moron for just letting it happen lol.
It's a very god-like story, which is the theme of the series

@@piercelindenberg6842 It wouldn't be logical to bring him back again. He achieved his goal, he killed the universe. Also, because he tends to be stuck in place or unable to physically act himself anytime he appears, a big part of his popularity is his voice actor Gabriel Woolfe, who is 91 years old. Let's say they let him rest for three or five years, I doubt they'd ask Gabriel back then.
they'll probably bring him back with a new VA, and say that the vortex permanently altered him, and that he's stuck at the beginning of the universe

I would be worried, if the Tardis duplicated, then so did Sutekh.
HOL UP
Luckily it didn't. This episode proves that it's been the same TARDIS.
The 15th doctor's prize was duplicating the TARDIS, Sutekh is not a part of the TARDIS, he must've seen that 15 was carrying on with adventures so jumped onto the duplicated TARDIS.
@@BlakeGamer-qy6veIts not explicitly explained but considering the reason sutekh latched onto the tardis was to create his apostle of death across time and space he would go onto the 15th tardis as he was the only one who was travelling whilst 14th's tardus stayed on earth in the present.

@@dmitryandyk2731 That’s an Olympic level stretch imo… in that scene, rose absorbed the essence of the tardis matrix and says “How can I let go? I bring life.”
The doctor is trying to tell her that the whole of the vortex is running through her head and it’s killing her. She is misunderstanding what she’s doing because of her tiny human mind and creating a fixed point through Jack. Yeah i love how russel is bringing the time vortexes because the new one kinda has his old one vibes with a bit of matt smiths one, and now its showing how the tine vortex varies sometimes
Especially since we didn't get too many in-story clips of the time vortex during 11 and 12. When the tardis transitioned out of the vortex in one shot from Space Babies, I jumped out of my seat so excited
One major issue, how the hell did Sutekh survive the TARDIS blowing up/being erased from time during Matt's run, Amy literally had to remember both the Doctor and TARDIS back into existence she had no knowledge of Sutekh. Also, why weren't the TARDIS' Cloisters ringing nonstop with something as evil as Sutekh attached to it?

Sutekh was the big bad, the one that scared even the toy maker and all it took was a rope and and a drop off in the time vortex. I think we now have a solution for anything else that comes along in the future.
And all it took to defeat the master was everyone saying the doctors name, and all it took to defeat the silence was the doctor getting married, and all it took to defeat the toymaker was a game of catch The doctor always wins in weird ways so don’t know why your complaining now
@@thebasicviewer9690 Because Sutekh was meant to be the worst thing the Doctor had ever faced. Lasing the game is what finished the Toymaker. I don't mind that the story ended in a basic way, just maybe don't make Sutekh a god that can destroy worlds only to have him defeated in such a silly way.
@@thebasicviewer9690 Explain how the Doctor defeated the Silence by getting married.
Explain the problem with the Doctor defeating the Toymaker in this way, considering the Toymaker can't cheat to win (use any godlike abilities) or deny the price of losing the game.
And yes, the Doctor defeating the Master the way you mentioned is despicable nonsense, but it's the Master. Sutekh should be the worst of the worst threats to the Doctor, and seriously, your defense to "prevent" someone from complaining is to cite more flaws
@paulobrasil33 The Doctor did not defeat the Silence by getting married. He defeated the Silence by faking his death, thereby securing the fixed point in time. The wedding was just the Doctor's way of revealing to River that she is facing the teselecta, with him inside, assuring her a way to kill him (apparently to the universe) without killing him for real.
@@mwd5001 Defeating stuff that can destroy worlds in a silly way is basically Doctor Who.
How is it possible for that little rope to hold such a large creature?
It’s an intelligent rope. Like the gloves.
Goblin technology, the Doctor learned it from the first episode
I just realized this means the TARDIS can dematerialize with its doors open
I thought it couldn’t like in “The Husband’s of River Song”? I understand that in that episode the TARDIS couldn’t dematerialize due to it registering a life form both inside and outside plus it didn’t even take off until the doors were shut, but wouldn’t that apply here as well?
Why did Sutekh not run towards the Doctor before he got into the Tardis instead of just standing there growling???
Because the bad guy needs to lose.
or transport him somewhere like he had just done from a planet across the galaxy? or transport the intelligent rope?
Because reasons and how dare you question the absolute shit scriptwriting??
Dude had no opposable thumbs
same reason the Daleks miss most of their shots I would imagine
My main issue with Sutekh is that he is extremely hyped up to be this great evil, an all powerful, unbeatable foe. The Toymaker, a being who goes against all logic and reason in this universe was SCARED of Sutekh. And then, for his defeat, he doesn't really seem all that powerful, he does NOTHING while they leash him and get into the TARDIS even though we saw that he is capable of easily stopping them. This season left me with the impression that RTD doesn't seem to know how to finish a conflict with creatures that are so powerful like Sutekh or the Toymaker, 'cause both of their defeats seemed a bit... lacking
Same thing has happened in the past tbh with his other stories, especially the Master ones. It feels like he’s very good at set-up but completely falters at the pay-off. I feel he should get some help with the endings since he has most other things figured out.
That’s always been his weakness as a writer and show runner. Amazing build up with a dues ex machina ending cuz he doesn’t know how to write a satisfying or logical ending.
Another instance of Dr Who plot armor. What do I mean by that? Pay attention to how long Sutek just SITS THERE doing nothing but roaring while Ruby attaches a leash to him and runs to the other end of the room while the Doctor is whistling repeatedly. Cosmic powers aside, he could have bit Ruby’s head clean off the moment she went to attach the leash to him!
This is like Daleks sitting around talking and yelling “EXTERMINATE” while they let the Doctor and his companions do and say whatever they want when they could have zapped them to death countless times throughout the series!
The Doctor is only able to beat bad guys because they sit around letting him talk and do things without interference while they look menacing. Like paper tigers.
That’s been a problem plaguing the show since the 1960s
2:24 NEVER!!! EVER!!! TELL ME THE RULES!!!!!

As per usual Murray Gold crushed it! He’s not allowed to leave ever again!
Am I the only one who finds it ridiculous that Sutekh, a supposed God, who flew on the outside of the Tardis through the time vortices all this time died to being attached to a rope and doing the exact same? I know Tardis shields at a certain range and all that stuff and him having a real body I think but still.
It’s absolutely ridiculous :)
Well, he only survived it the first time because he sort of merged with the Tardis and therefore had it as some sort of stabilizer.
This time he was clearly cut of (the snapping rope even visualises that). So here he didn't have anything to support him.
Edit: how tf did my autocorreckt turn "merged" into "Mercedes"?! 🤣
And the times the Tardis exploded, torn apart etc. Makes no sense for RTDs fan fiction 😂

I think the reason why the time vortex didn't kill him for all those years was because the tardis shields were protecting him. When he gets unleashed, he's no longer protected by the Shields and burns up. Makes sense to me
Odd series. first we have RTD saying kids think the sonic screwdriver is a gun, and then he gives a 13 year old gun powered Segway?
And the sonic screwdriver looked nothing like a gun... It looked ike a wand or ... you know... like a screwdriver!
RTD has a weird compulsion to give theatrically embellished explanations for boring choices. Like Davros in the Children In Need special last year - he looks different cause it's the youngest we've ever seen him and they didn't wanna waste time on makeup for a comedy short... but then RTD has to give this wild, tortured rationale that it's offensive to have a bad guy in a wheelchair nowadays.
@@alastormedial Yet most people in wheelchairs were offended by taking Davros out of the chair, and the idea that all super villains are in wheelchairs was a myth because we can only think of three, But then he casts a Transvestite as super villain (God of music) yet he wants to be pro-trans ?? I don't really don't mind a pre-accident Davros it would be an interesting story to tell but he doesn't create the Dalaks till after the accident. Did they? cool.
Another version of that theme was also used when the 10th Doctor runs to save River in the library, right after he says „One last run“.
Actually, that's just a part of The Doctor's Theme which is a theme that has been used since the previous reboot (2005) in many different episodes, mainly during Eccleston's and Tennant's (first) era, although the music has been used in a couple 11, 12, and 13 episodes aswell! :)

Personal Sutekh theory: He latched on to the TARDIS when Sarah Jane saw his image in Pyramids of Mars. New question, how the door engaged?
Sutekh's a god, he's not dead, just lost his body. The Mara's descended from him, it can do that, no reason he can't do it too.

Lesson from the Endless of the DC Universe: you can't be all-death without being half-life.
So how is it that the TARDIS was able to enter the Time vortex with the doors open? In the husbands of River Song there was a point where the TARDIS was unable to take off when Hydroflax's head was in the TARDIS and robot body outside the TARDIS registered him as a lifeform both inside and outside the TARDIS which prevented the door from properly engaging and couldn't "seal the real time envelope" and thus couldn't take off. Here the TARDIS is able to take off into the Vortex with the doors wide open.
Boy I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder
I don't think it matters that the doors are open? This isn't like hydroflax where his body is split in and out of the TARDIS.
@@mastersalamander3048 Youre right about this not being a Hydroflax situation, but I'm pretty sure the Tardis has to remain 'sealed' to travel through time.
That aside, theres no way that rope shouldve been able to hold Sutehk, or the Doctor been able to drag said rope into the Tardis.
I was genuinely hoping for a more clever approach to his defeat. The 'Death killing Death' was neat but they shouldve done that instead of saying it. Having his own power turned on him wouldve been a great way to weaken him, then send him into the Time Vortex.
@mastersalamander3048 The highlight here is the effects of the door not engaging properly. Not being able to "seal the real time envelope" which resulted in the engines of the TARDIS interfering with themselves.
If the doors are purposely left open, then they couldn't be considered engaged now, could they? Therefore, the same result should happen.
And in the classic who with the First Doctor always making sure the door stayed closed.

Am i the only one to notice it's a rendition of Matt Smith's "Don't tell me the rules" playing while they are in Matt Smith's Time Vortex
'Walkies!'
thats what I thought as well
Yeah I was afraid of this, the big demon getting beaten by a comedic shtick. In this case it's the giant dog on a leash. Curing Death with more Death?
@@_MyNameIsAJ_Can you stop replying to every single piece of valid criticism please. It's okay to be critical of stuff.
@@_MyNameIsAJ_ He's a GIANT DOG on a Leash, if it's not comedic it's an absurdity just like when the Legends of Tomorrow defeated a Demon named Malus by becoming a giant stuffed animal! But I'm glad you don't find that funny, just don't see it as good writting either!
@@_MyNameIsAJ_ Okay, I'm just going to accept that people like you, cannot accept the concept of Truth, because you have a biased view of perfection, and are possibly real young in this age.
@@_MyNameIsAJ_ Oh if you can't handle the problems I have with the 15th Doctor don't get me started on the 12th.
@@_MyNameIsAJ_ THAT'S IT! The 12th Doctor was more of a known than the rest of the Doctors, and he had other roles in Doctor Who before The Doctor which made it weird, YEAH IT ALSO DIDN'T HELP WITH COLIN BAKER!!! His first Companion Clara Oswald somehow got all the praise in the world from him and to me that spat on the memory of others he traveled with! The one time I did think he was on top he imediately brought it back down by kissing up to Clara again! She even got her face in the Theme song once! If you like the "Sonic Sunglasses" you need your head examined. Wanna talk about Heaven Sent and Hell Bent? Only reason I can think of that Moffat wanted The Doctor torutured like that for a billion years was to put him back on top of the misery wagon over Jack Harkness, and he commited murder and tried to break all the laws of time he once upheld to save Clara Oswald, Sorry Adric. Bill Potts was dumber than a bucket of hair, she's the only companion that entered the TARDIS and said it was like a Kitchen! SO COME ON TELL ME MORE OF YOUR NARROW OPINONS OR SHUT THE HELL UP!!!
Was that the eye of harmony that blasted the energy out of the tardis?
Great story but the mum reveal was a let down
nah it wasn't tbh
Agreed, it was far too anticlimactic.
The reveal itself and the reunion was incredible but they built her up far too much and why did the memory change if she was just ordinary? And why did it snow every time Ruby thought of ot or was in danger? Why was that night so raw it spilled through time?
@@thomaspaterson1354100% agree perfect way to put it
We gonna ignore that's a bungie cord
I love the 15th theme plays when hes dragging sutekh
Where's RSPCA thanks? Animal abusers to cruelty as usual.
So why did the vortex kill him this time and not the first time around???
Because
Ill explain later
