Leg covers for scooters - Which is best?

- Winter is here but I'm still on my scooter as usual. How do we fight the cold and what leg cover to chose for your scootering needs. I explore both options comparing my solution on my SYM Symphony ST 200 with a bespoke leg cover attached to a SYM JET X 125.

I am not a scooter guy but tempted (50+ motorbikes, 50 years).
Excellent reviews, very complete.
Both systems have their merits.
I have found it is impossible to buy what you want, (of anything), only buy as close as you can and modify.
Both these systems have improvement possibilities.
The 1st you could increase the weights, add velcro tabs at the back, to the scooter for example. Much of this can be glued on with contact adhesive, if used properly.
Again, excellent review/comparison. Thanks
I should stop watching your channel, this kind of content inspired me to go Bucharest-Snagov and back at 3 degrees in the rain on a Lambretta V50 Special. Felt like I rode from Stockholm to Helsinki.
=))) you only live once right?
@@RideWithAlex right. except in that case it s more along the lines of "you almost die a few times" :))))
Hi Alex!
there is a 3rd solution that stands between the 2 you proposed. If you want the implemented leg cover but there is none made specific for your bike (like my beloved Zontes M125), you can purchase a universal leg cover that can be attached to scooter and you don't have to put it on and off all the time.
I love your channel! Keep up the good work!
That second leg cover it makes bike aerodynamic,is all closed!😂
WOW Alex?! Another great video & fair comments to consider for both products, it’s a win / win all the way around. Great ride test for us to see for ourselves, doesn’t get any better. Rola (Oregon / USA)
Thank you! :D
Thank you for the review, I'm currently starting a second job as a courier and was thinking that the one that attaches to the scooter would probably not be as convenient to use when getting on and off a lot of the time. This review really helps, especially since you have had experience using it as a courier.

Good morning Alex. The cover that goes on the scooter is very good, but I also consider it a bit dangerous because it binds you to the machine. For this reason, I preferred to have the full-body cover. In order not to be hit by the wind, one must choose a solid full-body blanket. Greetings from GREECE
Good point!
I usually get by with a two layers, a warm underlayer and mountain winter trekking jumpsuit and boots on top .. It is a bit hassle to get them on and off at work/home but this is my 10th winter and it is ok for now. I did not know at all about your version of cover.. I will investigate around for different models. The big leg cover seams perfect for winter touring.
To say.. That jet x 125 looks like 300 maxi scooter, impressive machinery for the capacity.
Thank you Alex for giving us ideas... If I may to give you one idea back.. Try handlebar mittens, they really work magic and in combination with the heated grips is super comfy.
I really hate those handle bar mittens they are not for me 😂
1) I read the title as leg lovers and was yes finally scooter ranking by legroom!
2) is that hoe the JetX looks from the side? I didn't know it looked that badass TBH!
Imagine having the bespoke leg cover on a Vespa GTS or a Gilera Nexus that have their cooling radiator in the front while their vents are on the sides of the front shield. Your legs and even body get warm as if it was summer as there are leg covers that can cover all your body up to the neck + considering the heat that goes out from the radiator = awesomeness during cold days. Considering that we are almost in 2024 and in the era of technology where almost everything is possible, all scooters should have the radiator placement in the front as mandatory with opening/closing flaps in front of your legs or knees for colder days, heated grips, heated seats in the padding (even as optionals from the factory to look OEM, as many cars have nowadays all sorts of overloading extras, but hey... who am I, I'm just a dreamer 🤷♀). I still think the scooter/motorcycle industries are years behind the automotive industry in terms of available extras. I'd rather pay having, let's say, heated floor for the feet so that your legs would stay nice and warm under the leg cover during winter (I don't think this is impossible to do, even if costs would raise and maybe it sounds crazy, but from crazy stuff we have so many extras as standard today).
Personally, considering my only 40 minutes a day usage of my scooter, I use in the city a warm, yet stylish and nice winter jacket from Wellenstein that keeps me warm, regardless if I'm standstill or at 100 km/h (wind won't get through so I recommend everyone such brand), nice boots, and I also use 3 different coloured pairs of winter trousers from Decathlon that I swap and use with polar thinner trousers ones underneath => no cold felt whatsoever during my short trips to work or to other leisure activities across Bucharest (like, in 20 minutes I can get from one end to the other one of the city 🤷♀). Uuum... and a pair of winter gloves that are ok. If things get really cold, like under 0 degrees, I have handlebar gloves that are "coldproof" so to say haha... but considering that I don't do any food delivery as I used to do, I don't wear them as before as they ruin a bit the looks of my PCX haha. Also, I don't use a tall windscreen as I don't like how it looks afterwards and I forgive my scooter when it's wet outside not to get it too dirty. It's just me 😊. When it's dry, regardless of the outside temperature, I ride it. Maybe I need a cheap and rough scooter for ugly weather so that I won't care about it at all.
Have clean roads everyone!
Dodging Rain drops! Return of the scooter jedy master! 1.29' Popa or batman? I have a New bagster cover from Olx, just tryed it once! Hard to go on and off!
Hi Al. Not for me those, I think I will stick with waterproof trousers. but thanks for the show.
Nice review, Alex! One question - are those covers a good (effective way) to keep you clean from the sprinkles and dirt on the road? (also from other vehicles?)
Yes they are.
11:14 instead of heated grips, you can put grip covers and it will be warmer, I have a glass that immediately protects my hands from the wind
I hate grip covers :(
@@RideWithAlexBut your windshield has integrated handguards😂. Or you're reffering to those textile gaiters which attach to handlebars?
@@1zanglang the textile ones, that go over the handle bar.
Waterproof suit for cyclists from Dechatlon 😜, they are cheap, wear quickly and are easy to replace
Yes, but saying that you disclose never been driven in real cold.. 😉
I had never heard of these before seeing your videos. I am quite tall, 188cm and I need to move my knees out of the way if the handlebars turn too much. I have adjusted them and added 2" risers but they will still hit my legs - I wonder if a leg blanket would make this difficult to move my knees out (wider) and could that be dangerous...
I am intrigued enough to try one out.
Well, (just) a matter of circumstances one is in, I suppose. Intended use, driving profile, scooter and leg dimensions aso. There is no item for everyone. As a all-season driver I am most confident about the large, permanently mounted leg covers.
Well for us in Dubai apposite, winter is the bikes season, our motorcycles are on holiday at summer because of highe temperatures & humidity.
Unfortunately here winter has taken it's grasp on the temperature with a vengeance. Best I've seen in the past 2 weeks is 5 degrees :/
It’s sunny and 75 degrees Fahrenheit today in Southern California, last week it was 87 degrees……🤪🤣🤣
I envy you :))
Hi Alex. The windscreen for Jet X is nice. Where is it possible to buy?
Easyparts.com
Hey I had the same question. I don't see the jet x model in the website. Is a windscreen from another model compatible with the jet x?
Mr. Alex when is next road trip with donney?
At the moment it's winter so no trips planned.
I need (the second cover) an original for the ADX 125. Can't find any on the web. Do you maybe know a site ?
The aftermarket for the adx is inexistent at the moment, the model is too new for now.
Please tell me where to get service manual for cruisym 300.. Thank you
I don't know, give it a Google.
I've tried both methods too. The apron blew around like yours... useless. The full leg cover I have now let's air in from the front a bit, even with the straps tight. The strap that goes round your back slips down under your bum and for the sides I had to put weights into it to stop it flapping... roll on summer...
Wouldn't a simple pair of zip on/off rain or snow pants be easier? I'm not a bike rider so I'm really asking. I'm on and off tractors constantly in the Winter and they seem like an easy answer for you too.
They could do the job well enough, that is also an option.
@@RideWithAlex thanks for the reply. I'm looking (at 57 years old) into getting either a bike or possibly a scooter, so will likely have a bunch of stupid questions. You have, by far, the best channel I have seen on Utube. No marketing. You make it as if I'm riding along with you and we are just having a normal conversation. Not some motocross epic continent trip, or all the essential crap and trinkets you MUST buy, etc. Thank you very much.
Jet x with traction control? Didn't know that
Yes the 2023 model has TCS
@@RideWithAlex is there any notable difference with or without? I have one without TCS and I never felt I need it on 125cc scooter. But surely it's nice to have it on rainy days for less experience drivers
@@user-ot4fd3sk7s if you're just a little carefull when it's slippery outside then you don't need TCS, but like you say, it's nice to have.
Leg covers? Real motorcyclists shower while driving...😂👍
😂😂😂😂😂
Heheheh! In the video picture you look like a priest! Anyway, good review!
:))
