The buds were awsome I bought this album on cassette . I had been meaning to re record them on to MP3 the darling buds . The primitives great music . 28/1/2024❤❤❤ Sydney Australia 🦘🦘🦘
Either ten years too late or ten years too early for 1988. You can see the influences: Blondie, Warhol, Velvet Underground, The Smiths. So close to greatness, it's tantalising. Still sounds very fresh (even if the dancing makes Bananarama look like Cyd Charisse).
I grew up in this era and Keren Woodward WAS my Cyd Charisse and I won't have you disrespect her! It doesn't matter if she danced like a cucumber on a chicken skewer, she is still almost certainly the most beautiful woman I have seen in my life.
The girl can dance! Haha, Saw them live at The Bordlerline in Londona few months back...well her and a bunch of musicians. It was good fun but not the same as those early gigs. They were the bollox.
+Gordon Fitterer Exactly mate. You love one you love them all. Fucking brilliant songwriters. Where's Harley these days? What a waste of a talent not to be rockin' it still. Heard he's a nutritionist.
+Tim Coe - myUSP if you really like the Darling Buds you should if you haven't already done so check out the Primitives another Great Band from that Era never a dull song from them also
Fame is aleatory. If the Darling Buds had made these songs in 1979 instead of 1989, they would be lauded by the half-arsed music writers in the national press to this day.
Yup - Andrea was the greatest in the 'Blonde' bands (honourable mentions to: Tracy Tracy of The Primitives; Wendy James of Transvision Vamp and a shout of for the indie B-listers such as Johny Johnson of The Siddeleys and Alex Taylor of The Shop Assistants/Motorcycle Boy). I heard Andrea ended up as a drama teacher?
That whole Blonde female led band of the late 80’s is overlooked. I’d say Voice Of The Beehive were easily up there at the top: Here’s their most well known song/video recently remastered ua-cam.com/video/tUH789G3f-k/v-deo.html But they had so many other strong tracks, 3 albums & sheer character to back them up.
I only ever saw the Darling Buds once, at ULU sometime in late 87 or early 88, and then only because The Wonder Stuff were one of the support bands. Good band though.
+Christopher Luxford I saw them at ULU and The Wonder Stuff were on my favourite bands. Maybe not then then if I didn't remember them. Maybe a different ULU night. Remember it was fucking great though.
They were ok. Kiss of death signing to a major label (CBS), culturally they didn't really fit any genre. Not cool enough for the indie kids and simply didn't sell enough records..to sell out.
In other words people are tastless shit. It's slagdonna and whitney houston if your woman or any shit male band or singer. They were simply too good for the retarded wanker audience like ALL the best 80s acts were without querstion. And the indie kids AREN'T cool, certainly not if half the shit termed it is anything to go by! Yet people like the b52s and talking heads get an audience, and minogue and slagdonna, bon jovi, beastie boys, wet wet wet, lisa stansfield, bros, rap etc. Oh okay!
ANOTHER TIMELESS CLASSIC! 80"S MUSIC RULES!! the dj
Great mix of early Blondie and The Primitives, great song this is!
Kills me that a band as good as this never made it big; but then their obscurity is what we indie-folk cherish!

The chubby Debbie Harry. I loved this back in the 80s.
well DH was out of it on drugs thats the only reason she was thin!
I still would have back in the day.
@@lordprotector3367 still looking good today.
Heard the darling buds in a record store, had to go back and buy it
That coda has to be the best I've ever heard, so hypnotic.
Yeah whole outro after that ultra satisfying chord drop at 2:33 is great.
Yup. Good outro like The Smithereens "House We Used To Live In"
Wow I've not heard this in 20 + years. Forgot about this band . . . no idea how. Brilliant.
Extremely captivating eyes. Drawn into like I want to be there face to face.
Great song, bursting with melody and emotion....I want to go to that special place.....
TELL ME WHEN U R GOING AND I'LL GO WITH U HAVE TO JUKE THE WIFE L O L 🤣 😜 🤪
Boy life was fun in the ‘80s!
brilliant summer track
I love the Darling Buds! Thanks for all the great music!
One of those bands whose name I dimly remembered, but that’s about it. Was never them at the time, but they sound a lot better than I remember
pretty welsh lass, always liked this group, still have the cd from 1991.
top performance tonight in Manchester. Hope to see again if manage to fit in a tour
Good song for a summer soundtrack!
Love these guys, should have been huge!
Was there from the early days ❤ class
Town and country club Kentish Town … long time ago now…. Great gig…. Feeling old now
Still sounds epic. Great production. Amazing album POP SAID. Wished they were still gigging like SLF.
Great song I recorded this off the ITV Chart Show that was on on Saturday lunchtimes

I would say ten years too early.
Love me some buds ❤

I love her black dress.

Yes I saw The Primitives at Portsmouth Guildhall. Good, not on the same level as The DB for me.

During that era Buds & Wonder Stuff shared a producer (Pat Collier, ex-Vibrators).
Is this a different mix? it's different to the album version.
Andrea and Harley really had it going back then, it's too bad they had such a rough going with Sony that it soured the whole experience for them.
Andrea also happens to have been influenced by Debbie, too!

why am i just finding out about them now?
✅✅
She looks like she's dancing at gunpoint. Nevertheless, I love this song and group.
I agree
Is it just me or do others think of her as a young Debbie H ?
All the blonde-led alternative bands from Britain at this time got compared to Blondie and Debbie Harry.
Wow
I hear a little bit of the smiths.
More Kim Wilde than Debbie Harry
Aunque es algo lamentable (no achacable al grupo, sino a lo discográfica... y al horterísimo machista de la época), el tema es mítico.
