Headed up to Merimbula earlier this week for a session at Michies Jetty and it turned into an Australian Salmon fest. While I managed 4 good fish, a young man there was showing us all up with upwards of 20 catches and another guys landed a couple on a fly rod. It was a terrific morning with a seal even making an appearance. Enjoy!

I must say, haven't seen an Aussie beach that doesn't look like this, even in the big cities. Love the battle with Salmon, always a good time and have setup some fishing with the young man when he and his family return for their next holiday!

Thanks, after a dink fest 2 weeks ago, this past week had some good sized fish, which is always nice!
I think we learned 2 great lessons today !!
1) that incoming tide
2) when Lee needs to go shopping - GRAB THOSE RODS and Bait

The tide is the tricky one, the timing isn't always right for me to get out, but its so important. Thanks so much, it is a gorgeous spot and should fish there more and yes, grab those rods and save myself from shopping LOL

Mate my Son is over the moon with the mention on your video, he was so happy as all the way on our drive up he was saying "Dad, all i want to do is catch one Aussie salmon" well he got that and I'll never hear the end of it, for me it was like winning the lotto seeing him so happy. We will be heading out the on the june long weekend so if you have a chance please come out and we can catch up with you. Cheers Mate
So glad you guys had a good time down here and I bet it was a very proud Dad morning! I was not expecting to see a seal and paddle boarder racing today. Ill check that off my list. Nice day catching those Salmon. Love to see those releases in that clear water 🌊

🦭 so freaking cool!! Started out with a beauty…love hearing that drag going. Man oh man….battle after battle!!! It’s like the wife dropped you off at the gym….getting a workout 😆 Had to be an awesome battle on the fly rod like u said! Great trip Larry!!

Never been to Merimbula, look like such a beautiful spot. Cant bet having your line ripped off, well done on the Salmon - some great fish.
Bermagui to Mallacoota, might be the most gorgeous stretch in Australia. If you ever get the chance, its worth the drive to visit for a holiday.
Really nice fish Larry! Reminds me of the carp you were catching in Deniliquin the way those salmon were fighting!

Great to hear the young bloke was getting plenty, i would have been the same, never wanting to leave.
You definitely don't see fly fisherman hitting the salt much, but they definitely do well, i know a bloke who regularly hits the salt with his fly gear.
I have seen him post pictures of flattys and Bream a fair bit, a salmon would be a crazy fight on the fly fishing gear, i have no real interest in learning it though...

Thanks Mick, fun session of fishing and watching! The young guy had a blast and they are coming back for the June long weekend, but I'll be in Deni for a few days, so I'll miss them on this time. Tried fly fishing when I was young, like 11-12 years of age with my pops, but after he passed, never tried again. Looks fun, but a lot of work LOL
That was cool seeing that seal so close to shore. And it didn't scare the salmon away, so that's good!!
Those salmons are nice and chunky and look like good fighters!

Love fish, but freezer is full, so I don't keep anything unless a neighbor asks for some. Cheers!
