I think you flew on the older A380 in SIA's fleet (probably SKI, SKJ or SKK) which is fitted with their previous cabin configuration and they don't seem to clean it very often. For me, it was a great economy experience on this configuration (very comfortable albeit being a little dirty) as I fly in and out of AKL a few times with them. The new configuration on SKU to SKZ, often deployed to Europe, are much more cleaner, more modern and comfortable.

I think you could have sat on an old configuration of SQ's A380, since the IFE is the older version and there are still economy class seats on the upper deck. SQ's A380s will slowly be refitted to the 471-pax configuration, with economy class seats only on the main deck and new cabin products. (like the IFE and seats onboard their A359/B78X) As for the cleanliness of the aircraft, I think it was a rush for the ground crew at Sydney to do the interior cleaning of the A380, given the short turnaround time and the size of the aircraft itself.
But, I do agree the old-configured SQ A380s are dirtier than their newer counterparts. I personally sat the older A380 to HKG (75A) and a reconfigured A380 to PVG (43A) and the difference is huge. To me, I feel that the only striking difference in the A380s is the presence of the economy class seats on the upper deck of the old version. It is like a secluded economy class zone and the window seats come with stowage. It is a pity that these seats will be gone soon!

I'm actually kind of disappointed how Singapore Airlines treat their A380s. I mean, look at the dirty wings, the scratches on the window and after all, the cleanliness of the cabin. The A380 is such a majestic and modern airplane and deserves to be treated better!

I love Singapore’s A380 ... particularly the upper deck for the reasons you point out. What’s wrong with the windows? I’ve never noticed a problem with them.
I disagree with you about the amenity kit ... I appreciate the tooth brush and flight socks. Whereas I have so many eye shades from amenity kits, i really don’t need any more. It’s just wasteful

FlightExperience Earplugs are fair enough though, seeing you’re only meant to use them once.
I don't know I think eye shades are very good and practical so you can get some sleep and not be bothered by sunlight or screens.
Dejan Jordan I’m not saying they’re a bad idea just that they’re not single use items. Once you have eye shades, they’re light and easily transported, so you don’t need multiple others.
Love that sunset. I remember flying on BA16 at one time (exact same route, leaves only 20min after SQ222) and watching the sunset in midair was one of the highlights

Yes the seat surrounds need a good clean !! No matter where you are siting on an A380 there is nothing that betters the take off!! Mind you the flaps on the wings look like they need a wash as well . SQ provide a very good service at all levels on their flights! Well done and I enjoyed the flight with you!!

Economy Class on the upper deck is only available on some Singapore Airlines A380 aircrafts.
Some of them have all Business Class upper decks

I did an A380 upper-deck economy cabin with Emirates (Dubai to Bangkok). I thought the windows in the upper deck were smaller than on the lower, and seemed to be angled slightly upwards! Then I swapped my seat for an aisle seat, and that was good - all the advantages of the aisle seat, A380 spaciousness, and not too far from the window.
I wasn't sure about those storage cubbies - I could see myself forgetting my iPad or something like that.

I prefer an aisle seat. Gives you more freedom to move around without having to disturb others. Very handy if you needed the toilet!

Although the cleanliness is bad I guess they are prioritising some other aircrafts over others. I do agree the price is overpriced but I think you are really fortunate to fly on SQ A380. I have not flown yet :(

I flew from london to sydney with sinapore airlines in economy for the first time. I found the whole experiance realy good. By far the best flight I have been on.
Well, you can eliminate the cabin refurbishment I think. SQ has already began the refurbishment of the A380s but it’s way too slow..
Honestly i don't care what kind of that matters, importantly make sure please put 300% safety when they fly till the right destination..

A Miller ok first of all the pizzas are frozen when they get them, they heat them up in a portable stove near the lavatory or in the front of the plane. That’s when they give the food out to passengers. That’s what would happen if you had pizza on a flight

Perhaps they don't care anymore as the A380 is being phased out. It is very sad as these amazing engineering marvels , which are so quiet and comfortable are loved by the travelers and crew ,but unpopular with airline bosses
I have always been a regular passenger on SQ and have noticed their service standards have dropped over the years. Now they have faulty screens, cold stewardesses and there was another time I had asked for a can of coke and they said no more stock. Its just a soft drink not expensive wine mind u. They could have just offered me another choice of soft drink instead of replying curtly.

As we can't say often enough to people who say we are rich people or how we manage to fly this often. Flying isn't as expensive as you might think. You just have to research a lot and find the best dates.
Just search for flights that aren't during school vacations, trust me you'll be amazed

Flew them from HKT-DOH or even on a night flight MUC-DOH and didn't get one.

FlightExperience Oh yeah, ME3 carriers can be a bit inconsistent but nowadays, ask the crew for amenity kit, and they’ll give it to you. But I agree, airlines should take the initiative to have amenities prepared instead of having you ask for it.
They don't hand out eye masks anymore, perhaps not many people really need them. But you can ask for them from the friendly crew. Ground crew must have missed a spot or two during turnaround.
Okay I forgot to mention this but are you freaking kidding me 7 out of 10 4 legroom that is practically non existent, that was too generous, way too generous... I am 1.90 cm I would not have been able to sit normally can you imagine this on a very long flight...

A day before new year we are on a flight with this aircraft to singapore from frankfurt. We have seats on upper deck, 74D + E... Would you recommend us to choose extra legroom seats (80D + E are still available, plus 85USD per seat)??? Sincerely, Chris & Sai

I am a Dubai resident, however as much as possible I ALWAYS fly on Singapore Airlines unless I'm heading west or southwards... TBH if Singapore would have a mini hub in Dubai NONE of the other airlines including Emirates would ever get a booking from me... I am shocked and surprised this is Singapore Airlines! Garuda, Thai are much better and more hygienic. Hmm will think twice before booking a ticket with SQ.
I wouldn't fly SIA this is a big disapointment!! The crew maybe ok and the service is good, but I never experienced a dirty cabin like this so far!! Not to mention all that scratch on the window. They charge 7 euros for seat reservation and you get this... Shame!
