I can feel how hungry you are at the end of the videos and almost smell the food. Nothing like a day on a beautiful stream and then come back to camp and pig out. Oh yeah..and a couple adult beverages never hurt anybody either. Great stuff young feller!
Ha ha, that same bear came to pay me a visit last July, Love that sweet spot, it's freaking awesome definitely one of me fav goto's in CO. Next time hike upstream a mile and half further where the stream splits, stay to the right.
I love how you don’t get suckered into bad casting spots. I get trout fever sometimes and tell myself no one fishes this run from this angle. I got this. Then I’m roll casting in between. Tress and branches. Outcome=flies in the tress. 😂 Dude you pick great seams to start pools too I’ve noticed. Surgically pick them apart. Best fly fishing video dude on UA-cam. This looks like an amazing trip.
After watching you for a few videos there’s no question you know what you’re doing when it comes to fly fishing. Like the guy commented earlier you pick your angles and position yourself perfectly for your casts. Awesome content I’m glad I found your channel. Keep posting these fishing videos they’re awesome.
Hiking into a creek with the fam on the front range in Colorado this Sunday that doesn’t see a lot of pressure, chasing wild browns just like this. If I’m lucky I’ll have half your success! Thanks for the inspiration, Drew. Keep ‘em coming.
There are so many great things about your videos but what I like the most is your secrecy as to where you are. I will be fishing that stream next week and I'm sure I'll have it to myself and I hope I do as well as you did. Thanks again Drew ;
I truly feel like those that work to find these gifts will appreciate and protect them. We tend to value the things we work for and earn! I'm super happy others appreciate that also!
Enjoy your trips and watching you slay those trout😁.. Following my neck surgery, still no fishing or hunting for 10 weeks. Keep ypur videos coming. They are my only escape. Thanks a bunch
Not growing up in the fly fishing community...My dad a single father raising 2 boys in the ghetto...I just recently (last few years ) learned who they were. My hope is to live a long, full life...like they have...wonderful and happy people that are truly inspirational!
Drew, I think I’ve said it before: you’ve become the John Gierach of the Digital Media age. Thanks for another great video. It’s getting me primed for my October Colorado trip.
Drew, love your videos! You truly capture the "good stuff" we all appreciate about fly fishing! Thanks for sharing your love of fishing. It motivates me and I'm sure, many others to get out there on the stream.
All the Brown Trout seem to have a Black Spot on their cheeks! Awesome scenery there Drew! I always wonder of you get lonely out there alone. I would love to share experiences like these with a Buddy or two. Safety in numbers as well. Keep it up and stay safe!
I don't but I've gotten use to passing the time alone being a stay at home dad in a small rural community in south AR. I do have a couple friends that fly fish and it's definitely nice when they can tag along. Safety in numbers for sure...but I won't stay home waiting lol!
Enjoy your videos a lot. Watching your videos has motivated me to get a fly rod and gear. We hit CO every few years for family vacations, and will be fishing trout streams here in NE IA/ SW WI in the near future. Thanks for sharing your story.
Yea, the algorithm isn't my friend lol. You might turn the notifications on or check back every Mon and Thur for a new video. Got my trip sched thru Nov and more trips planned!
Hey Drew, There is a spot just West of there that not too many people fish and there are some monsters in there. If you're ever in this area again, let me know and I'll take you in there. The trail used to be good but not anymore due to low traffic and difficult terrain.
Wow the fish couldn’t stay away huh ha no but wow what an amazing lil creek If I’m right you said u were in Idaho?! That’s were I met my wife and that’s where our first born was born in Twin Falls Idaho
Wasn't in Idaho yet. I put where I'm at in the description of each video. The trip started in NM...CO, ID and ended in WY. Haha, spent the night in the Walmart parking lot in Twin Falls waiting for the Nissan dealership to open after my truck threw the overheating code when I was driving to SLC!
Some ten nice browns in a beautiful river in that nice cloudy rainy day. It’s odd that no other native American species of trout appeared in what looks a pristine environment, considering that rainbows and cutthroats are tougher than their European relative.
Great vid! Looks like a bit different resolution on the camera on this one...water's more silky, still lovin' the action. Just shows that while waters are ignored by the masses, fish get fat and happy on their own.
I have in the past but focused on moving water this year. I like streams more...I guess...b/c I love to see what's around the corner. The hike to a lake is fun but I get bored if the backdrop doesn't change quickly lol!
Wow, beautiful river and fish. All 14 chapters have been great so far! Can't wait to see the rest. Question: when you hike down into the river, do you tie a ribbon or mark the spot so you have no problem getting back to camp/car at the end? I have gotten turned around a couple of times and spent hours hiking to find my car. Bush league, I guess
I sometimes do...in the unbelievable video u can see it briefly just before I see that first small brown rise. I keep a small orange tag with me to mark where I need to exit the stream or pick a super obvious land mark to use a a guide!
Just wondering if there is any concern about a bear tearing open your truck looking for food, or did you take measures against something like this happening?
No I'm not concerned...I went with a hard side shell for that very reason. The windows are the weakest parts but only so much you can do and I feel confident a hard shell is security enough.
I have been wondering about something, do you have a sat phone with you? I am planning to do the same thing next season, I am shopping for a truck also since I am a little older, I plan on having a personal locator beacon and a Sat phone. Makes sense to be going well off the beaten path.
I don't have the Sat phone but can definitely see the advantage. I went with a SPOT but I believe garmin makes something that has both, 2way communication and PLB.
Another great video Drew! Looks like you got into some pretty chunky Browns!!...what are some of your most memorable fish from the trip so far? Where? Weight? Location? Story? Thanks Drew!
The video will have to tell the story...I remember the destinations more...the roads closed to fires, the ash falling into camp one day, the burn in my legs hiking to a stream that's about 2 shares away. Although...Idaho was completely unexpected beautiful westslope cutthroat surrounded my the most lush forest I've ever fished. But I honestly don't remember a specific fish!
Hard to say really. Colorado isn't new to me so I didn't have the same...what will I find feeling like I did in Idaho! That was all new water and state so the excitement and anxiety that comes with not knowing was definitely heightened! Add in a ton of forest fires and it was both frustrating and exhilarating!
I don't...drives me crazy when it snags a tree and then tries to hog tie me. I just place it between my back and backpack...but I also lose and then go find it many times which I've shown and will show more in the series lol! But that's also why I have a cheap net!
It is...orvis recon 8.5ft 4wt. I got it for my road trip bc I knew I'd be fishing some tight streams with heavy flow and wanted something a little shorter than my 10ft 4wt.
@@ryantherock7664 love it...fast enough to throw small conehead streamers (will be shown in the ID portion)...but not too fast so it still mends effortlessly. Pick up is pretty good...not as strong as my h3 understandably and has backbone to move fish thru current...also will show in Idaho! Imo, great value for the performance it has!
Half way through the video you hit a stretch of water that had the perfect flow. You know there has to be fish there, as we saw there was. Was the water a little off color or was it me? As always I enjoy the video. Dinner sure smells good. Looking forward to next up. 👍👍👍👍
That was a great section. It was high and off color. I got there right at the end of run off which might explain the lack of traffic when I got there in the part just before this one.
Drew, I wish you would name the type of Trout these are when you catch them. Like Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Golden Trout. I think I know, but you fish these streams all the time and know. Great vids! I love stream fishing.
What you don’t’ keep a few of your catches to eat? Why not? Are you allergic to fishes? I am allergic to flies specially the moskito flies as they seem to like so much my blood. I catch moskitoes then tie them to a hook and feed them to the fishes and that gives me great pleasure! Enjoy your day! 😁😁😁
Awesome video like always! You've inspired and motivated me my friend, went exploring 11 mile canyon in Colorado today and tagged you on IG. Had fun in a well known spot but it was new to me and I was away from everyone, working my way up to a couple days in the bush!

Nice to see a good angler fishing and not posing for the expensive tackle company's. Good on you drew
Indeed an amazing stream! It is always fun to see catch those brown trouts. Some were pretty big. Thank you for sharing.

Man, I’m lovin’ these videos. On the big screen, it really is like being there. Wish there were more than two per week.
Thank u! I definitely hope to share more than 2/week in the future. More trips = more vids and that's goal!
Still gotta fish to make vids😆
We love it, Drew! These videos are like a bi-weekly streaming service show haha.
