@@peterboswell4584 hey Peter! Yes the 25’s are quite rough to ride on! lol amazing what a few mm of extra rubber does!! Ride on and ride safe too Peter 🔥🔥🔥
Cycling folks are a pretty friendly lot I reckon. Lo Quay's lemon Kurd muffins are pretty spot on. I'm a cartographer too but into touring as much too slow and old for the competitive racing.
First comment. Really doing a good job. Just started cycling again after years of family commitments. Want to start doing competitive racing and even long distance bike packing races.
welcome back to cycling Michael! I was off riding for 4 years due to nerve injury and it was quite a long and painful comeback! still coming back tbh! There's heaps of competitive racing for masters - check out this link: www.wcmasterscycling.asn.au
Specs and pricing on those wheels is terrible and outdated. I'm running 25's cos it's all i got atm. Pumped to 70 psi. Will go larger when they're done.
Should try running 28's - I've got a pair of 28's I can let go for cheap if you're in Perth! I think that the whole hype of wider is better is going a little overboard, especially with No.6's crazy wide wheels lol... check the ETRTO standards so you can safely use a tyre that's made for a given internal width. Based off tyre standards, I think that the 19-23mm internal width is still very current. Anything else outside of that isn't great right now. The optimal is probably 23mm internal. www.continental-tires.com/products/b2c/tire-knowledge/tire-rim-combinations-etrto-standards/
@@Velographer if they're GP5's i'd be interested but i'm in Melb. Agree with your comments on internal width. Feels like they're pushing gravel wheels onto roadies.

would love to ride with you mate!!! I'll make sure to have footage of you dropping me in a race!!
i still have 23's, as well as rim brakes, old school & enjoy heaps.
Ride what you love mate :D That's the most important thing! Tech and equipment are cool, but they'll never replace the pure joy of just riding.
Great. Video your so curtesy
Ps I started back in mid 80,s on 19 and now ride 28 which r very cushy
@@dantolo817 ha! I remember the 19s though I was born in ‘83. The 19s were the choice tyre in the mid 90s! I’m riding 30’s now.
I usually end up climbing up those stairs. Surprised I don't see any people practising stair climbing there; working on their fitness.
Those stairs are proper steep and long enough for stair climbing! True! Reminds me of a teeeeny portion of jacob's ladder but more scenic :D haha

70psi is great too! supple enough a ride :)
@@Velographer i've found it to be the sweet spot. Any higher it's too harsh and under 60 too sloppy.
@@DanTuber totally agree! haha do you remember when everyone was pumping to 100psi?

Can I have your old wheels 😂 ( I’m broke 😭
haha :D at least you asked! It's a demo set from Ascent and I believe they'll be selling them off at some point for a lot less than the RRP!
@ yeah I’m just looking for new wheels my current rims are all cracked from the heat but if it rides it’s fine 🤣
@@AzulFN7 what are you currently on? disc or rim? i do have a brand new training wheelset I don't mind parting with.
@@Velographer ahh rim brakes only started cycling a year ago so don’t feel like I need a really expensive bike it’s mostly for maintenance but yeah
@@AzulFN7drop me a message on IG. I might have some around.
