Magnificent work rooted in Armenian themes very influenced by Khachaturian but distinctly original. There is a more lyric feel to Babajanian's music than Khachaturian's but they are Armenian brothers "in the skin." It is a shame that Khachaturian's music is not played very much any more. He was a great composer and so popular during his lifetime. Babajanian's music needs to be appreciated for its drama and unique harmonic voice.
Leo Catalano -- In the grand romantic tradition (I think)...."Distinctly original," yet recalling Rakhmaninov, Prokofiev and Addinsel l BRAVO from Oaxaca !
Some music researchers even feel that the music of Babajanian has more Armenian traits than Khachaturian's. Anyway, being a composition student of the great Aram and under pressure from the control of the Communist Party, it was difficult for Arno to break from Khachaturian's influence straight away.
@@TheodoreServin okay. If you want to look at the piece proper as beginning with the entrance of the piano, then that's a valid point. I did not listen all the way to that point, I just heard the beginning orchestral measures and thought this is in C-sharp minor. Then, I went to the end and heard the conclusion, and said it ends an E Major.
The great composer and pianist binding east and west together brilliantly!
Another obscure marvel by a composer I was not aware of...a great delight. Bravo, Arno. Thanks!
A very enjoyable Armenian piano concerto, thank you :)
I love the melodies!
Loved it! Thank you for having introduced me to this great composer!
Lelz, thanks for crossing this out of my to-do list! :)
so nice to see the celebs of obscure classical music in each others comment sections

@@steveegallo3384 I agree completely with everything you say here. Babajanian is distinctly original!
@@leoinsf -- In that event, let us not agree to disagree......

Woooow
Sounds fantastic!
Thanks for share it
Very explosive! Thank you for posting!
Thanks
Interesting start!
reminds me of both Khachaturian and Rachmaninov, but with pure Armenian tones
ah you beat me to it ! 😂
The key is C-sharp minor, ending in the relative major, E.
I thought it was in E major to begin with (at least the key of the main theme).

@@JAMESLEVEE Isn't amazing that the use of relative minor keys can add so much love and interest in the music?
Hey where do I find the sheet music for this?
Armenian music is superior.
Dear Bartje , you apparently don't know, but all his music is plagiarism of my Azerbaijani music.
Sincerely.
No it isn’t, show some actual evidence cause this is an empty claim otherwise
