  • Want to show off your patriotic spirit this summer? Serve these festive Star-Spangled Cookies made with M&M’S® Red, White & Blue Milk Chocolate candies.
    Prep Time: 15 minutes
    Cook Time: 15 minutes
    Total Time: 30 minutes (plus 30-45 minutes chilling time)
    Makes: 16 servings
    Ingredients:
    1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    3 packages (1.48 oz. each) M&M’S® Red, White and Blue Milk Chocolate candies, divided
    1 small tube of each red, white and blue icing
    Instructions:
    1. In bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. Using electric mixer, beat butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg until blended. Beat in vanilla.
    2. Slowly add flour mixture until fully incorporated. Chop 1 package of M&M’S® Red, White and Blue Milk Chocolate candies; fold into dough. Shape dough into large disk and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 30-45 minutes.
    3. Preheat oven to 350 F. Position racks in top and bottom thirds of oven. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough into 1/4-inch thickness. Using 4-inch star cookie cutter, cut out 16 cookies; transfer to 2 parchment paper-lined baking sheets, rerolling scraps as needed.
    4. Bake on top and bottom racks, rotating and switching pans halfway through, for 12 to 14 minutes or until lightly golden just around edges. Let cool completely on rack. Decorate cookies with icing and remaining M&M’S® Red, White and Blue Milk Chocolate candies.
    Tip: Substitute melted red, white and blue candy melts for red, white and blue icing if desired.
