- In this video, I will be sharing how I care & cultivate this particular tropical plant commonly known as Water Jasmine (Wrightia Religiosa)
This particular Jasmine was grown using seeds - I have tried a couple of times propagating them using cuttings but failed miserably many times over.
However once the plant had established itself over the years in a slow growth - it never failed to give out blooms on it's seasonal basis.
Here I will be sharing the factors of lighting, watering and potting to keep them in check so as not to overgrow the plant as I want them to be in a bonsai shape factor.
Tips on leaves pruning
Tips on roots exposure
And few other pointers concerning these Jasmine characteristics.

I have 3 pots aways blooming. I can collect daily for my prayers.
Amazing to know that these bloom daily for you. Truly remarkable fragrance isn't it?
thank yu very much, i have only the same as yours, but on the ground and i would like to put it now in a pot so i can start working towards a bonsai, can you maybe give me some clues, thank you lovely video
You need to uproot it carefully and trim down the plant as it will start to drop its leaves and may get into shock
Once replanted in a pot
Keep it in bright shade and water it lightly so that the plant rrcovers
@@TropicalGarden should i trim before uprooting ?
If its too long n leggy then you should
I inherited a water jasmine bonsai. It is in the house under a grow light for the winter. The leaves are lime green instead of deep green. Can you give some idea what is wrong and how I can correct? (I do spray Neem Oil 3x a week). Thank you.
Few tips for you
This is a tropical plant hence it would be challenging to keep it indoors also during winter.
So as long as its alive during winter under grow light its still a big deal.
Once its passed spring - out it outdoors for it to generate and grow to dark green.
No need to spray too much neem oil if there aren't any infections.
The oils can suffocate the leaves from its breathing cycle
Birdie, typically there are three reasons for chlorosis in W. Religiosa. From my experience it could be one or more of the following:
1) Roots are staying wet/too much water.
This is common with this species due to their aggressive root growth. Check to see if it needs a repot and monitor watering needs.
2) Nitrogen deficiency.
Religiosa loves nitrogen, root application of liquid fertilizer and see what happens.
3) Iron deficiency.
This happens to mine in the winter. Foliar applications of chelated iron fix it up.
Do these grow little fruits? I have what I think is a water jasmine but it grows what looks like little limes
They do grow seedpods where the 2 filament kind of pods stick out together similar like a frangipani like seedpods and these eventually turn brown and split releasing all the air borne seeds also similar like desert rose seedpod.
Their fruits are never juicy or pulp
More like skin n seed.
I have this plant in my garden for almost 3 years and it is about 3 feet tall. But for 3 years it has only flowered twice producing only 2 tiny flowers. Is this normal? I've tried putting fertilizer to encourage flowering and the result was that 2 tiny flowers. Its frustrating...any tips? Thanks
2 tiny flowers are not normal.
Perhaps trim of the excess branches, strip off the huge leaves if there are any n try to keep the compact.
Also repot them, perhaps the rootball is too tight and none of the nutrients can get into the soil medium.
Good bright sunlight is also another factor - lacking which, these won't bloom.
Do check on my description box where I put more details on about them in my blog n check n tally n see you if missed out anything.
Considering 3 feet is tall compared to mine.

Thanks
I think it needs direct not warm sunlight. It may need humidity perhaps
where to get seeds? :)
Try checking in the local online store. However I must say that I rarely found any vendors selling these seeds based on my observation
👍👍👍👍
Thanks
