I love how you characterized dukes past self as full of pride. He still has a lot of it, but it defined him over the years and gave him room to grow. Well done indeed!
"And all my siblings are dead." Quotes aside, it was so interesting seeing character development for an engine who hasn't seen the spotlight since the 90's. Seems to me people want Duke to come back yet they don't seem to make their wishes come true through much fan fiction. Anyway this story was really good, it feels like you did the most research into this and a really engaging story with lots of railway trivia to boot makes the best Thomas stories ever in my book. Duke getting reunited with his family really tugged at my heartstrings and the music was well timed to fit the atmosphere of the episode. With this soft story coming before a halloween special, I wonder what you have planned this Halloween, I bet it will be pretty dark considering your previous work.
Also I'd like to add: all the engines didn't have their cast iron saddle tanks until the 1880s. However, I obviously couldn't find any models so there are some historical issues XD.
Come to think of it, I thought Duke was a bit spirited in his youth myself. And, well, I thought it was cool seeing him with his siblings on their line. But, when Sir Handel and Peter Sam went to cheer up their dear Granpuff, my heart melted, and it did so even more when the siblings arrived. Aww!
The Little Western indeed . I bet Thomas remember his passed away siblings from the time after he was bulid and the time before he came to Sodor in 1915.
I was surprised that those engines are still around, I originally thought Prince was the sole survivor, also quite nice that Bertram is now a part of the family
Great episode I must say , including other railways witch the Thomas one were based on , amazing and great that you thought of the 150th birthday of the Talyllyn railway too
Possibly my favourite episode form you! No ones ever mentioned about dukes history pre mid sodor or his family! Very well done the script was very well written!
I remember seeing one or two of Duke’s classmates at The Ffestiniog Railway in real life, when I visited in 2008. I loved the backstory and of how The Siblings made up in the end. It was nice of how Duke was like Skarloey, Sir Handel and Peter Sam when he was young. Interesting of how he used his sad backstory to mould himself into the character he became later in life. And don’t worry about The Ffestiniog looking not like it does in real life, it is understandable considering that everyone had a limitation on Trainz sets back then.
Duke is one of my favorite characters. I always wanted him back in Thomas series, since he was only appearance in season 4, in season 5 only picture of Duke
That was a wonderfully thought out episode! I've never even thought about dukes brothers and sisters. And dukes new model and face masks look amazing! The music, the plot, and that little funny bit with Thomas made the episode amazing. And the touch back on the search for smudger at the end was amazing. I love how you included Bertram. Your best episode yet! Keep up the good work!
Well, Thomas is right, unless... the rumblings I've heard about a fund coming around to have a new E2 built in the future since Thomas is an E2. Somewhere on DA I heard it. And unless you want to have Timothy be cannon (with tons of editing to his story) he could be Thomas' ghost brother.
1:10 in this scene thomas say “and all my siblings are ded..... i think” well the e2 class engines have been scrapped for a while but thomas said i think because hes not sure if timothy the number 0 engine counts as his alive brother or a ghost.
Oh my gosh, I love Duke. He's so dynamic, and you presented him incredibly well! This is why he needs to return. One question though, why did you use the new model of Duke in some scenes, and the old one in others? Sometimes even changing just within shots?
The new narrow gauge models are a much larger gauge then the old 2006 ones. Therefore, it would look completely strange if Duke was 2 times the size of his siblings. Therefore, I did it like Season 5 where I use both large scale and small scale.
At 0:34, I think you meant to say Sesquicentennial, and if you don't know what that means, that is a 150th anniversary. Also all of Thomas' siblings have been scrapped from February 1961 to April 1963. There has been a rumor that another LB&SCR E2 will be built, with a larger coal bunker. (These last two sentences are according to Wikipedia.
I loved this episode, it was funny when Duke was talking to his two brothers and then when the others appeared he said " oh, you have got to be joking! "
This is really great episode. Never expected Duke to have that many siblings, much less being that troublesome. Nice job of adding Talyllyn and Dolgoch for cameos. Small suggestion in the future: Think you can change pitches for separate characters, seeing as you're voicing all of them now?
In addition to the 6 year old comment, it is beautiful to not only see Duke start out as immature but prideful as Matt said back then, but also make amends with the biggest mistake he made. It really hit close to home, making this episode one of my favourites for sure.
Prince: looking for someone. Duke: yes bertram I... wait a minute.. you’re not Bertram.. oh my goodness.. it can’t be. Prince: Hello Duke Duke: Prince... good gracious I don’t believe it
I find it odd that duke is the youngest to his siblings but to the mid sodor engines like Peter Sam and sir Handel he’s like a grandpa because of them calling him grandPUFF
3:29 something I’ve only just realised is the coaches that welsh pony is pulling are the same coaches that Tomas1edward2henry3 used for the culdee fell railway coaches back before he had the actual CFR coaches
1:09 Thomas "and all my siblings are dead ....... I think" LOL All you're siblings are dead Thomas, but Timothy is not just dead he's a dead demon who comes back and haunts you.
Duke's siblings being able to forgive him for his arrogant behaviour may help me with some painful memories that have recently returned to the forefront of my mind.
Can relate to Duke here as I just graduated high school and there’s people there I miss, heck this even came out when I had just switched to a new school in 7th Grade where the people from there are who I miss the most and haven’t seen most of them in ages, didn’t realize at the time I’d end up later going through the same thing Duke has here.

Lol may be Thomas should ask the fat controller to be sure but also imagine him finding out that he was right abought his sibling

Thomas: and all my siblings are dead I think?
Timothy: no
Random shitty Lawson Billinton designed E2 ocs : Nah we're here basically everywhere....
remember thomas. timothy is dead. He rammed himself of a bridge
@@MinerMan2999 I hate halloween. but I like christmas though. also I like thomas's line in this TEOS episode.
1:09 Thomas "and all my siblings are dead ....... I think" xD
Why is that funny?
Maybe Thomas was thinking about his silver, number "0" brother, Timothy.
gameoholic1994 No, Timothy is a ghost, ergo he's dead.
Ryan Brown But yet, he comes back to haunt Sodor, so in a way, he's still alive[?]
gameoholic1994 No, his spirit is just trapped in the living world.
Also I'd like to add: all the engines didn't have their cast iron saddle tanks until the 1880s. However, I obviously couldn't find any models so there are some historical issues XD.
COOL! its ok, but nice to know!
no problem not a nit picker or rivet counter, enjoyed the episode !!!!!!

good job with the video t1e2h3
I love the line Thomas said, "And all my siblings are dead...I think." Hilarious line of all!

"I didn't hear the rest of the conversation. I was too ashamed"
An excellent plot, and very impressive overall. You know, I'd love to see something like this for Duncan.
9:38 I love dukes reaction when he sees the rest of his brothers
And sister
‘More Like his Arse!’
‘Excuse me, Little Giant!’
My favorite moment.

Duke: i haven't seen my brothers in way over a centries
Thomas: and all my siblings are died, i think
The S-Team duke loves it when a plan comes together
Steam engines have great memories they can remember stuff from LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO!

i love duke overall in TEOS. the sides of his character that we never saw, such as his temper, are incredible.
Good Job T1E2H3! Nice use of the new Duke Model. Also, Mountaineer reminds me of my home state West Virginia.
Duke: I haven’t seen my siblings in well over a century

7:13 What A Minute, You're Not Bertram!
Great episode! I loved Sudrian Afro's Post Train theme at the ten minute mark. It really fits the tone of the reunion.
This is a really good episode! Loved the sibling reunion! I'm super exited for your Halloween episodes!!
10:07 Ivo Hugh, Fred and Luke, I certainly was not expecting that
