We took the Pentax 67 out in the streets of New York. Had such a good time shooting only Black and White film. That Kodak TMAX is something serious! I hope you all enjoy this one.

The black and white video is giving 90’s vibes 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Was hoping for something close haha
You created an incredible series of monochrome images! You have a remarkable talent for capturing the hearts and souls of the subjects. Your work is deeply rooted in the authentic essence of film. Keep up the excellent work!
I really appreciate that Donald.
Love the black and white
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
The light leak is part of the beauty of film photography.. don't beat yourself over it.. its the soul and authenticity we all love to see.. I actually saw a beauty 16x24 frame on the wall and instantly knew it was a film photo -- gorgeous with that colorful light leak in the picture.. I guess that's dope of the photographer to have brave it out in displaying it and it really worked.. film is authentic...
You’re absolutely right 🙌🏾
Dope! Love that all black and white. The subtle genius
I appreciate it Cam!
might be your best work yet, Mike...thank you for this
Thanks so much for supporting
watching Snowfall and i was like nahhhh MIKE that's crazy
Haha it got real for a second
Love the B&W and the BTS lunch convo!! Tri-X!
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Some of my best photographs were taken with my old, 1980’s Pentax 35mm. Your video makes me want to dig it out the closet and add it back to my kit.
i love that.
I love how you dont use a generic "camera" sound for the photos...I could recognize that 67 shutter snap anywhere 🔥 love that camera
Thank you 🙏🏾 that Pentax 67 is a different kind of beast haha
Thank you for posting. Love the 67!!
Thank you so much. I used the 90mm
Loved seeing the 67 out on the street, I used to use it for street shooting with the 45mm lens. There’s a great 3D printed grip which fits on the right hand side of the camera which makes it so much easier to hold all day. Beautiful pics, loved the portrait of the young girl, keep it up! Also tmax 400 looks amazing pushed to 1600, helps with the shutter speed on the big ol pentax
thanks!!
ok but the opening shot is beautiful had to add that to my shot list folder
I appreciate it bro
Brand new sub. This looked really fun.
Holy stacks of film! I remember back when film was going to be dead.
Thanks so much for the Sub Chris. Welcome to the family 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Mike Gray just dropped time to go on break lol 🙌🙌🙌
Let’s do it haha 🙏🏾
Great photos and great videos, Thank you for sharing your day in NY
Thanks a lot David!
Ilford FP4! Nice contrast and classic (fine) grain.
Gotta give it a try
Watching this reminds me of the dats I went everywhere with my Spotmatic back in the 1960's and '70's
that's so cool
Next time you’re in NY you have to check out this garden in Yonkers. You’ll have a blast taking shots there, promise you
I will do 🙌🏾
Bro my face was Ugly the whole video gang.
This was so peaceful and chill man, you got some real Gems.
i appreciate you bro. the ugly face is always a good sign lol
Black and white is something different 😤😤
No lie told
I like Ilford HP5. The image of the kids facing away from the lens is classic. Dope as always Mike.
Thanks bro
Bruh... 2:09 ?!!! Great shot man. Her whole interaction w/ you was fire. Great photos man ! Liked this video + I'm subscribed. Love it !
Thanks so much!
6:05 and 6:10 were insane shots
Thanks a lot!
Great video. NYC... my hometown. Miss it so much. Definitely shoot more B+W film. Ilford FP4 for the win! Delta 400 is dope too. Looks nice when you push it to 800 too. Street with the Pentax 67 is fun. Hope you get to do it again.
I appreciate it
Also, right after the KEH break, man were those some great portraits. Those two young men on the stoop, or the guy who had to admit he was "hanging out" and more? Great stuff!
Thanks Chris!
Top Pentax 67 B&W snaps, mate. Hasselbald 503CX + Carl Zeiss 80mm f.4+ Ilford Kentmere.
i love it!
Great video. Those stoop shots are really cool. That’d be a cool series to put together. Anyway, great work; keep it goin! Subscribed. 😎
Thanks a lot. Welcome to the family bro!
Great images, Mike! Nice job with that Pentax--it's a beast. FWIW it's always best to avoid direct sunlight on the film when loading any 120/220 film (@1:30), I see fogging along the edges in a few of the images (@5:17, 5:22)
Thanks for the info! I learned that the hard way haha. Thanks for the tip!
i love the shot at 5:12
Thank you
6:05 awesome portrait
Thanks Chris
Great portraits!
Thank you so much
Rollei 400s Retro is my fave BW film
Gotta give it a try
ayee shout out to photodom
indeed
What focusing screen do you have in your Pentax 67? The two common ones I have seen are the center micro prism and gridded matte. For shooting anything with subject off center, such like street photography I think the gridded screen may work better. Little things like that can make a big difference on how much you can enjoy the shoot, I think.
I had a plan going to nyc later this month. I thought about going with my Pentax 67. I’m so glad you did it and shared your experience. Thank you! It really helps with my plan. I was thinking bringing the 90mm, 75mm and 55mm, but it maybe more of a challenge if I just bring one lens, either the 75mm or 55mm. My trip just got postponed, I definitely have more time thinking about it now. Mamiya 7 with the 65mm or 43mm maybe interesting, Fujica GW690 can be cool, or shooting 35mm panorama with the Pentax 67 can be fun. So many choices.
:11 is a dope frame capture, looks like holding a cigar but its the film haha
beautiful shot at 2:03 & 5:15
I appreciate you haha 🙏🏾
Masterpiece. Again. Every frame. Congrats for the whole composition.
Thanks a lot man.
Great stuff!! Glad to see you in these NYC streets.
thanks for the help while i was there bro!
Queen has that favorite aunty energy!
She does haha
BW super! Thanks Mike
Thank YOU.
What a cigar broo jajajaj Good stuff!
Hahahaha my guy! Lol
Great Video. But man I'm so late. I recently just finish the Snowfall series. I was like that looks like the Mike Gray brother. Man great scenes for you. That role was the part that change Franks storyline.
I appreciate the support Antonio!
I'm hitting Dublin City for some street tomorrow, thinking about which camera to bring, now I might bring the Big 67 along. Greetings from Ireland.
Bring it!
Very nice Mike.
Thanks David
This is awesome street and portrait work!
I like Foma 200, but yea the contrast isn't quite as good, but mainly because it is cheaper for me.
Thanks Alex!
Nice Work! I would love to bring my 67ii to NY for street photos.
Thanks so much!
Hate to say it but Cinestill BWxx is my favorite b/w film... Clean af and contrasty, great detail and the grain almost disappears... tho I have not shot other stocks to compare side by side. Just loved the results I have achieved with it.
Trust me, I get it. I love BWxx as well. Great film stock
Nice video Mike!
Thanks!
Man I love this so much
Thank you for watching 🙌🏾
Ilford Delta 3200 owns my soul lol
Gonna give that a go next!
thought it was a cigar in the thumbnail 😭
😂😂😂
Me too
love this video I'm a long time subscriber, U were on my block MR. EDDIE lives too doors down from me!
That's so dope!
& thank you for the support for these last few years.
Beautiful shots and interactions man. Somehow I still haven't shot TMax, usually just go with Ilford stocks, but this made me want to shoot portraits with some Tmax on my RB67. Really appreciate your work!
Thanks so much!
Love this, you are the best🙏
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Portrait at 6:06. Feels almost like a large format photo.
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Great video. It is very interesting to see you in a city interacting. I do wonder about light leakages that happened when you loaded the camera in full sunlight - leak at left edge of frame at 5:25 of the video? Cheers from Canada
It was because I opened the back while filming was still loaded unfortunately. We got that issue handled thankfully 🙌🏾
I notice when you come to NYC you mostly hit up BK
You gotta come link with some Uptown photographers too, man
There are so many gems up here, and more human to human interactions to be had in Harlem, The Heights, and The BX
Let me know if you're open to that 🙏🏾
Also, Ilford films have my heart for the black and white
Delta 100 is top of the list
FP4 is almost neck and neck
When I’m in NYC in August I will make sure to pull up that way.
Scaring me using that behemoth without a strap mister
Hahahaha
I liked this. I noticed your light leaks were in different places on each frame. That means it's unlikely to be the camera, the camera would produce the same places each time. Which is good. I have a short film show on UA-cam now, it's a start. Just type my name in if you're interested. It's in Black and white also. Kind regards Jake Everyman.
Thanks a lot man. Yes, luckily the light leaks were from me opening the back prematurely smh lol
That's the right way to make a mistake, not break your camera. Btw my favourite film was always Tri X original. There's a story that when Don McCullin heard it was being discontinued he ordered 240 rolls of it . He's the guy that a Nikon F took a bullet for in Vietnam. You can find a picture of that camera on UA-cam. He's in his 80s now and still taking pictures. I hope I live that long and stay that active. Best wishes Jake E.
Sunny 16? Light meter? Great shots...
Thanks. I used the internal light meter in the Pentax
will never understand why bloggers always load their 120 cams straight in the fullest full sunlight
Yea my mistake lol
Soooo, did you go back to the airport to get the film?
The film is long gone lol
You need to get way closer with that 45 i think your quite used to using a 90 so your distance to the subject is quite far
I wanted that composition ;)
I just stumbled across Mike’s IMDB. MF is a giant !
Haha I appreciate you.
@@MikeGrayFilm We will talk soon . Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s incredibly inspiring, engaging, and just downright dope tbh. ✌🏻
what's up good guy?
HP5 :)
Tuchè haha
Considering the price of film, that had to sting! 😕
It did. Very much so :(
Every time I'm in the da city, you're not. Every time I'm in LA, you're not. Man you killin' me. When's the next time you'll be in ATL since you on KEH jock?🤣🤣🤣 Just messing with you. I'll be in da city later this month for a few days. Got to get you to DC bruh so we can shoot. Git at'me.
Hahaha I’m weak! 😂😂😂 text me man!
@@MikeGrayFilm will do.
Starting a trend here: Pentax 67 + Street ! ;-) ..... great shots as always. Thankx for the video !
Thanks so much!
