Every time he pauses, hes asking you to groom him as well. You cant have him do all the work because then itll feel like hes just inferior and not worthy of grooming. He may refuse to have you groom him, or quickly change his mind and groom you once again, but giving him that option really makes a difference. (Also, rewarding grooming with treats is a good way to confirm good behavior)

I had been thinking that they were eating something, but now it seems more likely that they just that chewing when grooming even if there actually is nothing to eat. Why?
Nobody can tell me we aren't smarter monkey. Like, I have psoriasis so i have a lot of dead, flakey skin especially on my back where i cant reach easily so my girlfriend was sorta "picking" it for once to help get that itch off and so i wouldnt have dead skin everywhere. Turns out, I absolutely love it. She asked me why i like it so much because honestly its better thank back scratches, and i couldnt answer her. It feels therapeutic almost.
