Probably, but for broadcast TV shows, air time was fixed. Especially for this episode, where they didn't want useless filler to pad the run time, every second needed to be reviewed to see if it was worth it or not. We got the point that Geordy and Picard are still friendly with each other, now to the plot. If TNG was made for streaming, it might had stayed.
That's how I feel watching a lot of these, especially all the Enterprise outtakes where by design those characters are the most human and relatable. Like, just leave those moments in!!!
Can we all agree that's the best series finale? Period. It's always hard to wrap up a series, but it both ended the series and opened the possibilities of what may come. The adventure continues, while putting a ribbon on the series.
Everything after "How about Jean-Luc?" and before "Can I give you a hand?" is different from what was broadcast. The broadcast version was PICARD: How about Jean-Luc? LAFORGE: I don't think I could get used to that. PICARD: Good Lord, Geordi. Well, how long has it been? LAFORGE: Nine years. PICARD: No, no, no. Since you last called me Captain? Since we were all together on the Enterprise? LAFORGE: Close to twenty-five years. PICARD: Twenty-five years. Well, time has been good to you. LAFORGE: A little too good to me in some places [pats belly]. Can I give you a hand here? But in this outtake, Stewart forgot his next line after "I don't think I could get used to that" and said "Time has used you well." So Burton laughed and went with "Used me a little too well," and then they cut.
Now I know there’s constantly going to be the usual “overstating how good something we like is” But yes it was a solid ending. I’m sure glad Picard ended his career here and didn’t get into any weird other stuff involving time travel and warp rifts😉
Guessing Geordi went to a rejuvenation clinic and got a whole natural overhaul! They'd'a took out some wrinkles, did a hair repair, change of blood; added a good 30 or 40 years to his life! They also replaced his spleen and colon, I'm guessing. Whaddaya think?
They could’ve kept this in and I’d have been none the wiser.
Same here! They could slip in way more of the "mistakes" and save a take or two. I think it would add a more natural scene.
Yeah, I don't see why they cut it. I think anyone would have sounded the same if they were told by a former boss that.
It also would have fit the theme of the episode. That the others think he's slipping.

"cut that out. too normal. too human"

When you flub the line, but keep a straight face so that your partner cracks up. XD
Those of us who saw this episode on release date as kids know this feeling all too well.
half of Levar's old person costume is just him keeping his brow furrowed
I haven't seen this episode in a long time, and I had to go look up what the actual line was, because this seemed totally normal 😂
🤣 From this point forth I shall use this when greeting people I haven't seen in a while.
I watched three times before I finally saw it.
Seamless editing is why I always hit like even while the first ad is playing!
0:32 aw, there it is!
Thanks, I wasn't sure 😂

One of the best series finales of any show on television. Beyond Star Trek, beyond sci-fi, but of all television.

Remember.. Levar Burton is filled with rage.😅
They say that time…is a user

Great Scotty!
Can I keep the mask?
You look great, Geordi!
Not sure about Geordie's cover of Tubthumping...
Shields are down, but they're up again, never gonna beam me down!
How _dare_ you put that song in my head.
@@Triknor You can try and get rid of it.
First, you take a whisky drink, then you take a lager drink...
Just a couple of good friends.
Which line was the outtake? Him patting his gut or the “some other damn thing”?
his line of "little too well"
Feels so in character that it doesn't even feel like a mistake@@unknownwatcher1123
"Time has used you well".
Or "captain picard to the bridge" instead of laforge to bridge.
"Captain Picard to the bridge" was said when Picard was being summoned to the bridge.
"captain picard to the bridge"???
