I played DCS with a mouse and a keyboard for the first month or so, on a 5 y/o system with a GTX 1070, an HDD and 16gb RAM. Multiplayer was a no-go, but single player worked just fine.

@@thejetfighter Honestly my system's not that much newer than yours. Intel i5 and a GTX 1070 are stock from when I bought it. I started on an HDD and it was playable, albeit with pretty long load times. I upgraded from the HDD to a 2TB SSD and that made a HUGE difference. 16gb RAM was plenty for SP, and I could play MP on a map like Caucasus with 30-40fps no problem. I increased from 16gb RAM to 32 to be able to run MP on the Syria map, and I can get 50-60fps, even with a mix of high & ultra settings. I can get 80-90fps on SP so long as I don't go hog-wild with AI assets. With just a modest GPU upgrade you should be okay, I would think.
@@thejetfighter theres really nothing in DCS from that game. Half of the models in Flanker 2.0 still reside and are in use in DCS World, including Crimea. If you track the coastline all the way up, you could map the entirety of Crimea and compare it with Flanker 2.0. You will see the exact same map - lines, polygons...all the same in both. Even the models like the Tu-95 and Su-17 Fitter are still in game. Hell, half of the buildings and villiages too.
strike fighter is not online, and its lite simulator, the radar and how missile works and the sounds of it are bad, i played a lot of sf2 but when i found Lock on fc2 i saw i was playing a kids game xD
If you don't mind WW2, the best of the old games is probably *Combat Flight Simulator 3* with mods. You can find videos of it on UA-cam. It looks incredible!
Actually, it is installed on my PC and it runs ok, not great but at least ok. But that is a REAL simulator. The learning curve will take its time. Falcon BMS it's the real option to DCS if you like hard core simulations. Thanks for watching :-D

I'm planning to buy a stick and throttle, but i'm afraid i won't be able to play Over G Fighters (xbox 360 game i play on xenia emulator on pc) because i think it won't work with stick and throttle.
There are MODs to make the F-14 playable in Flaming Cliffs 2. Also IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 has a MOD called B.A.T. that makes the F-14 playable. And for the XBox game on PC there's the original Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas One (XBOX Series X/S & XOne and PC) on Amazon amzn.to/3tw0Yfh Off course that would make the need of making an investment on that Hotas (around 70$).

My video card burned out, although it gave only 25 fps online, and 40 fps in single. Now I'm sitting on integrated graphics, and I don't have the opportunity to buy a new video card at the moment. Actually, I've tried flight sims on my phone, and many of them are really good. But I'm messy with the touch screen controls, I would need to train myself for this way of play. I guess I'm old school :-D

@@thejetfighter Well you're gonna need a 500GB of SSD (or 256gb if you're playing on low graphics, no other maps) and a GPU upgrade then you're good. My i3-6100 and RX560 4GB can still fly in a medium settings in singleplayer, adjust lower settings a bit then it'll run fine in some multiplayer map.

You have to install the 1-MOD. It is available at the official MOD maker of the game who also is the same people that manages the last FC2 online server. vk.com/topic-36610072_41156928 Even though the page is in Russian, the MOD is mostly in English and the people behind it can understand English if you have any questions.
I agree with you but Lock on FC2 lacks many features including lacking a considerable single player support plus less games, I would suggest going for Strike fighters instead
Just play War Thunder at this point? It can easily be ran on a shitiest of computers. And if you hate multiplayer you can just play singleplayer missions, a leftover from the time War Thunder was called "Wings Of Prey". If even that isn't an option i would concentrate on surviving my dude. Drop the games.
I'm always focused on surviving :-D I just installed War Thunder and it does run on my PC after some graphic configs done. But the Pay to Win model doesn't appeal to me. I'm going to give a try anyway thou.

Actually the "father" of DCS is Lock-on Modern Aircombat or LOMAC.
thats...what the video says. Technically speaking, Flanker 2.0 is the father of LOMAC/DCS. All LockOn Flaming Cliffs 1/2 are were just paid addons.

This game is great fun. Barely any issues. Loved to play it online this year. Its a pity the multiplayer scenarios are usually terrible
I runs flawlessly in today's PCs. The multiplayer is were this game shines. There's still one server on-line, I play there from time to time. :-D
