The news hit me straight through the heart! He & Randy Rhoads are the reasons I play guitar today. Last time I saw Van Halen was in 2012 and I still felt like a kid in awe watching him kill it on stage.
Thank you Jake to share your Van Halen stories with us. I had the chance to see them live in Mtl in 1995 (Balance tour), I was a broken student at that time, but buying a pair of tickets for that show was the best expense I ever made. I am not half as good as a player as you are, but believe me I will end this shitty week by blasting the 2-3 VH riff that I am able to play decently.
Jake, it is a blessing how many people have been connected via the internet that have never met, but we all rally around, celebrate, practice, inspire and execute things due to this man!! I have made so many connections via Links, Forms, Chats, Live Feeds, Chat Rooms, videos, emails & text messages around his past, present, Live Performances, Albums, Articles & Equipment. Please hang in there and know we'll all here for eachother and we can all contribute to his legacy & future with our actions & continuing to fly that VH Flag everyday by playing & honoring his masterful music - Kurt5150
Jake...good stuff...i been jamming to OU812...AFU..sucker in a 3 piece..source of infection...mine all mine......damn that shit rocks!!!....rock on my brother!!!!
I knew your “homage” was coming....and loved the stories interspersed with your fav Van Halen tunes ..... yep... I still want you to play with me live someday.... would be a HUGE ... honor and joy.... not even your incredible playing... but the raw, honest YOU that is one- of-a-kind..... one of my best memories was bringing you to the kids at the inner city at risk school...... you impacted us all...❤️
When you said (Bullshit!), it brought me back to the day a friend of mine came up and told me DLR was not with VH anymore. I immediately got pissed and almost decided to kick his ass but he swore it was true. Back then it took a bit to actually verify because no internet, but sure enough. I was really sad. I was extra sad hearing this news coupled with all the other Bullshit going on in the world. When you actually shed tears for someone you never met, it’s then that you realize impact they had on your life. I felt that way when Randy Rhodes died, and during the last Rush tour that I was fortunate enough to attend. I was around 16 when VH1 came out. I didn’t even know that eruption was a guitar at first. That’s how crazy ahead of time Eddie was. Probably like people first hearing Hendrix back in the sixties. The beautiful part I hang onto is that his music will never die. He will always be recognized as one of the greatest guitar players of all time, if not the greatest. Rock on man!

Such a shame to loose someone like Eddie
R.I.P
I was same in high school but this was in the late 90's. I was only kid with a VH sticker on my car
I still can't believe it. It seems almost inexplicable!
