Running a LQ9 with a decent size cam, stock heads with springs and stock valves. Running the eldelbrock carb intake with 850 holley carb and msd controller. Turbo 400 trans with 205 cast iron transfer case and rockwell 2.5ton axles.
This is, of course, excluding the LSX376 and 454 iron block crate engines since we're referring to motors in production cars....if the car came with an 'LS' engine, it came with an aluminum block
+Drew H god dammit, you're right.. I've been in the world of LQ and LY for so long that I guess he just use LS as a euphemism for those motors. that being said I've always been pretty content with a 350 dollar 4.8 that "has a tap"..
LS2 is an aluminum block 6.0, in fact anything with an "LS" in front of it is an aluminum block. LQ9 is the iron block 6.0 with an entirely different cam, intake, valve train, head, and tune.
If im not mistaken, these motors came out of escalades and other large suv's!? My dad has one in his tube chassis crawler/rock bouncer, but it doesn't sound like this, I know my dads has mufflers but sounds no where near as good as this thing!
+ROCKWELLOFFROAD.COM why on earth do guys carb these LS motors? you can yank trans motor and ECU out of a rig and everything all work together. everything will work together and support a thousand horsepower. I'm not really big in the mud seen but I am in the street singing and nobody is carbing their LS motors, everybody's putting turbos on them.
+Ted Dow Because it was and still is, the cheapest way to stab in a LS. I think the MSD box is around $200 as well the intake. So rather then put a PCM in along with the rather expensive FI fuel system they took the cheap and easy way out. I don't blame them, most guys above the age of 35 can work on a carb, or know someone who can.
You know, the truck is cool and all but it is kind of depressing seeing a truck that expensive in mud that a cheap used four wheel could easily go through
What do you mean a truck that expensive? You can pick up one of those trucks around my area with a dead trans for $1000 all day long. Not an expensive truck.
Sweet sounding Engine!! Pulling hard and steady, no flutter or misfire, no overheating, Rock Solid!!!
This man ain't making ruts,He is making ditch's
Great truck, great driver, it's good to see someone that knows how to drive mud
I agree!! Thanks for the comment

First to view no way . Gotta love those 6.0 this one sounds healthy tho does not sound like a stocker

Them Rockwell's definitely help though

Never seen a necks truck with bead locks. Impressive.
Damn nice setup, get up on top of the mud like it's supposed to.

Please bring it over to my farm! My neighbors would love me!
That's a mean machine!
Love the LQ9!!!
Proper gearing and lockers make this rig tic!
this is a beautiful rig

Dope rims
Let's go!! Chevy power!! Better than Ford and Dodge COMBINED!!!
FIIIIINALLY, another badass truck sans V treads! Awesome truck!
will you post cam spec
What gearing
That truck is a beast
Do you guys change the transfer case so a different one or...?
Size of the cam?
Anyone have the full build details on this truck? What trans he’s running, what motor work is done and what transfer case?

ttarver24 LS2 6.0s are all aluminum..lq9 6.0s are iron blocks

not all ls motors are all aluminum.
Ted Dow yes they are...if it has 'LS' in the name, it's an aluminum block...anything else like LQ, LT is not

I would daily this truck if it was legal

im guessing 400-450hp with the mods they said that sounds about right for a 6.0

part of the axle assembly. look up Rockwell differential.
