Hammers and Frogspawns are no longer in the genus euphyllia. That’s also probably the reason they don’t get along with torches. Hammers and frogspawns are now fimbriaphyllia
Yeah, over a year ago my hammers destroyed some torches. They recovered though 100%, took a while. I still like frogspawn the most, even though torches have the best colors
@@TheIncredibleHieb it’s hard with this topic since if you would place a hammer in the fungia genus that would be a misclassification. But if it’s believed to be something else and then reclassified I would say that’s different.
I have two little torches and I adore them both and I was able to get both of them for steals - $50 for the teensy one and $60 for the other. None of them are fancy morphs and I don't care because to me all that matters is that I personally really adore them.❤
One of the corals that brought me into this hobby. After I bleached my first one (temp), I can’t own another. May try in a few months or year, but I would never spend $200+ on a coral again. If I were to get a torch, I’d have to get it for less than $50. Stunning corals, bad memories.
I almost bought a clown tang a few weeks ago but didn't know that much about them as a specific fish went away did some research decided against it ,the next day you released the first video about the experience you have had with this sod and I am so glad I didn't buy it even though they are really pretty
In my experience, I have found that although generally more expensive, Indo torch varieties are far more forgiving, fast-growing, and generally easier than Aussie torches.
I agree with you on the clown tang! At a local retail shop they had one in their 400 gallon tank and it ravaged every fish in there and they could not get it out. It would avoid traps like the plague!
Just lost my one and only torch head last week to I'm guessing brown jelly. It started melting overnight and a dip didn't save it. It was doing great before hand. ☹️
I bought a hammer coral and a torch coral at the same time and the hammer is slowly deteriorating and the torch is taking off. Not sure what the issue is.
I bought a golden torch 3 months ago. From two heads now it has 5! The only problem is that he loose the color and the tentacles getting more purple!Any suggestion?parameters good
Had a really nice green with pink tips torch that was 3 heads with one splitting, had it for a few weeks and got brown jelly... It was heart breaking seeing it just decompose within days and couldn't stop it, which then eventually killed all my hammers, won't be spending bit money or a torch again 😔
Yes, my Torches are thriving , were as every toadstool ,cabbage leather I've added wilts and dies, nah start with soft corals everybody says, my torch is growing faster than my GSP and that's been in the tank longer.
I have over dosed Mag and panicked only to realize nothing bad happened. I was off the chart my Salifert test wouldn’t even show the numbers. But i do usually try to stay around 1400
Nah I can tell you with certainty the number one way to prevent bacterial infections with torch’s is a proper amount of UV filtration in your system in my torch system I usually run about 26watts worth of uv in that system to kill off any bacteria or rather get it to low enough concentrations to never be able to infect the torch’s I’ve never had a issue except for one torch that for some reason just didn’t like life and ejected its polyp
I think I killed my most recent torch with too much flow and then too little. I had my powerhead on random like everyone always says but I think the peaks and valleys were too much for it. I was using a nero 3 in my IM 25 Lagoon and at 75-80% that can be near 1500gph which might be too much for a shallow 2 foot tank.... I don't know I only have the one power head. I am hoping to sell it and get a gyre-style powerhead soon. I wish I had seen this video sooner! Between this and the one on feeding I am subbing haha thanks!

This is so classic :D
Corals beeing missclassified and the hobby beeing really slow to catch on once properly classified.
@@TheIncredibleHieb reclassified not misclassified. Hobbyists are technically misclassifying them.
@@Entety303 well if they are reclassified they weren't classified right before. Maybe to best knowledge, but not right.

try a micronesian usually you can get them for 50-100 I paid a 100 for mine, got two heads.
A video on my favourite corals 🙌. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. 👍

Your euphyllia look great Ryan. Very true about proper flow, par and stability. 👌

I love these care vids, they all i watch from you lol
YES! Been waiting for these videos again. Welcome back!
Good and clear video! Awesome
Love these type of videos
Great video and great information thanks for sharing

You can guarantee when brown jelly hits it's be a Dragon Soul or something expensive, never seems to be the cheaper ones 🙄
thanks for torching on this subject!

Can you do one on flower pot corals?
Yes
Loved this video 👌🏼🙏🏻
Hammers and Frogspawns are actually in the genus fimbriaphyllia, not euphyllia.

something that has never worked in the history of aquarium keeping lol
Great Review!!
I've heard magnesium can have a big effect on Euphylia and especially torches, what do you believe to be a healthy magnesium level?
1450-1550
1500 or more. Fleshy corals in general loooove high mag leveks
I have over dosed Mag and panicked only to realize nothing bad happened. I was off the chart my Salifert test wouldn’t even show the numbers. But i do usually try to stay around 1400
tried a few times with torches but each one has eventually died :( the last straw was a £200 dragon soul that died within a month, so frustrating.
the secret to torches is good flow, higher magnesium and feeding
Good show
My frimbrias are okay but im too worried to get any torches because of t bjd😅
Currently dealing with Brown Jelly
What are the darker green with white tips called

Are those flat worms @4:15 on the green torch with pink tips
It does look like it, that video was taken in a shop in Australia I think about 4 years ago so I probably don’t need to let them know 😂
after nearly 20 years Im still struggling to to get it in my head hammers and frogspawns are not euphyllias lol
I have a question the video is in my page can somebody help me !?
Do you ship to America?
I bought 2 heads of indo gold at the weekend, I’ve got a sore sphincter from the price 😂
I have a holy grail, it’s my favorite
Why do the title sounds like its a question intended to Reef Dork. 🤣🤣
What about 50 par!?!?
I just started my youtube channel i got a shark and a bunch of fish but one day i want to make vids of adding corals and stuff
😂Promise, no clown tang.
Rather Torches and Hammers and Frogspawn. 😁
👍

Ugh, I'm getting very tired of these ambiguous answers. I guess I'll have to look elsewhere for advice on whether I should get a clown tang.
You 100% should… great fish… no regrets 🤣

200£ can’t buy a hg torch…you need at least 500£
I cant keep them alive. so NO NO NO
