I'm such a total beginner that I had no idea you could make your tank pay for itself! Thank you. I think my favourite has to be the green star polyps.
new to the channel , super excited to have located Prestige Reef. not to mention found through the REEF DORK channel! great info
leaving extra frag plugs around for them to grow onto is genius!
Love your vids!
Purple star polyps are the bomb on back of tank! Only the bright neon centers show and look light lights on wall. I just keep losing baby mushrooms and have had almost all the high end! I also lost almost all high end zoas about 5k worth I had invested when I was sick and hospitized and frag tank wasnt quite ready. I had soooo many sitting on sand bed being mowed over by snails. Great video!
zoas are totally crazy with pricing. i have a specimen i was wanting 10 years ago that was a crazy price and last year i found a rock with at least 100 heads for $20
My problem is that i get too attached to my corals lol. I have a green kenya tree but I can't bring myself to cut and sell the babies because I'm so happy I have a coral successfully dropping heads and I don't want to get rid of my first, my smallest, or my biggest baby leathers.
I love zenia and did buy it from you
Very accurate in my experience. I still think Utter Chaos is the nices Zoa ever despite price dropping.
I have a GSP and a little Zoa that has been about the same size for a couple months.
Out of all the corals displayed above I love Clove polyps, but I have never had a lot of luck with them.
This is awesome. I had no idea this existed and I don't even know how I dropped into this rabbit hole. Praise the Sea Gods!
I'm an old experienced mental newB and a sucker for Lighter color almost white and long Pulsing Xenia, Clover Polyps, GSP and Ricordea Mushrooms. My filefish loves Zoa's so I have no idea if I like them 🤣
1. Zoas 6:10
2. Mushrooms 4:18
3. Clove Polyps 3:33
4. Green Star Polyps 2:38
5. Pulsing Xenia 1:19
But for the ones of us that already didn’t see it as a money pit and did already do fragging now have realised that with the amount of ppl that have shut down lately the market is absolutely flooded and now it’s even harder to sell anything to the point of doing it is pointless as I’m just about giving them away now
That’s really interesting to hear
Yes I agree.
I’m in a good position as looking to upgrade my 200L to something like a Red Sea 425 and there are loads of people shutting down. They start the price high and it just drops over a few weeks.
@@Toby26Jarvis it’s definitely a buyers market now not a sellers
@@reefcubedan2680 how are hobbyists shutting down making it hard to sell frags? Tank shutdowns are normally full colonies and maybe some frags. I don’t think you can blame that for you not being able to sell anything. The proper thing to blame would be the fact the economy is in the shitter and people don’t spend as much on luxury items. It’s gonna be a rough couple years so buckle down. This is when you should be in acquisition mode and building your stock for when the economy recovers.
Not in Oklahoma , coral frags are as scarce as horse feathers .
I think your selection Ryan was spot on.. unfortunately some of these beginner corals are starting to flood the market.
Tipp: scale up to 4k, UA-cam compression in Full HD is unfortunately awefull since a few years.
What is the best beginner coral
I suggest investing in Dutch tulips.
Some people made huge amounts out of Dutch tulips… you just need to know when to get out 😉
Always great advice but I’m just in it for the love of the hobby ,that’s also why I’m very poor 😉
Ihave the coveted reef dork utter chaos i want 99 pound per polyp
awesom
if you breed coral in moderate to high volume you should have the goal to use your collection for replenishing reefs in the oceans they came frm
really hope we make harvesting coral illegal without a permit bc it's very hard to reintroduce desirable coral to the wild :D . the harvesting method should be very minicule and supervised, only obtainable by collectives of scientists & growers with intent to replenish real reefs as well as enhance their own hobbies
Its only profitable if people want to by some frags. I have "expensive" zoas and even at half of what the LRS is selling I can't sell any and the colony that LRS was started with mine. Even 5$ GSP can't sell so imagine my high end master torch
What's the best way to make a small fortune by fragging your corals?
Start with a larger fortune.
You have no idea how helpful it is that you are watching my videos and commenting…. UA-cam’s analytic loves it 👍
I’ve made about 10000 from just zoa sells alone this year
:)
Cespitularia are even more profitable than xenia.
😁🤘
I find it sad that this hobby has been overtaken by people like this guy with his fluorescent corals that have little to do with what corals look like in nature.
A row of discs with 1" bright, unnatural colors?
No thanks.
😴
