This is an incredible set! I see a lot of great jams on UA-cam that are one song, which I appreciate, but performing a whole set live like this is awesome. Your transitions are excellent. Would love to see another!
Great work. Not easy to manage all those devices working together! Synth lines could use more syncopation, maybe some call and response between different elements, but whatever this is dope.
Hi, very Nice song . I would like to buy my first synth : the behringer neutron . Do you use a sequencer with the neutron ? If yes, witch ? Sorry for my bad english, i´m french.
Yes, you'll need a way to sequence the neutron externally. It does not come with a sequencer. I usually use eurorack gear to sequence it, but you can make it work with any midi controller or midi connection to your computer.
Here's a link to my modulargrid: www.modulargrid.net/e/users/view/174032 These are all the modules I have and this performance just uses a subset of these
You know what? At a club I'd rather be listening to you playing a live set of bangers like this, with all its 'mistakes' and human soul left in it, than just a bunch of identikit DJs playing highly produced bassline house (or whatever this week's micro-genre is) all night, no variations allowed. We are musicians, not 'producers' making product, and we are making real electronic music. As BoBeats says - we are the counter-culture
Couldn't have said it better myself! I do think once we get this deep into the synth realm, we're making music for musicians... a much smaller set than the set of average club goers. It's awesome to listen to synth gigs, but there's not a huge audience for it yet, so DJs are the norm
@@RickHowell Yeah, I'm getting into the Electronic Music Open Mic scene here in the UK and it's fantastic... and that'll never be for more than us synth heads. But I definitely think that live sets of dancefloor-oriented house & techno can appeal to broader audiences - it's just breaking down those barriers, especially with promoters who hate taking risks. Which is a shame as I know from experience most people just want a good groove to dance to and won't discriminate between a live act and DJs. Saying that, I do find that a lot of people are actually put off by dance music being too samey and bored by DJs being too similar. I think that's something we as a group have already picked up on. Just as punks gave stale rock music a good kicking, maybe we are the people that are coming along to shake dance music out of it's own complacency?😁
HIYA RICK , Dude i just love your channel , your style of melodic tecno is TOP DRAWER ....ive watched all your vids and your standerd is right up there with the BEST , Ive finally after years of strife have got my channel up and have posted a few tracks , id be honered if youd take a quick peek as i make v melodic tech and electro myself and have a similar setup as yourself ,, thanks RICK AND KEEP CREATING BRO ,,🙂🙂😀
Love this! Big fan of the trancey synth lines and the tight rhythms. Great job Rick. 🎧🎚️🎛️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Did it need much mastering work after recording? The mix sounds really clean 👌
Thanks! And I'm not that great at mastering to be fair, so I didn't do too much haha. Pretty much just took a little off the high end since the 'shaker' sound running through the delay was a little too loud and brought everything up to 0dB
Brilliant sounds… your reply here is really helpful,… I thought the sound must have had some treatment, the level was perfect wow.. the music is superb.. I was close to buying a Neutron when it was released, I’d been following its development.. but .. blah.. 20ish months ago I got a MB2S and getting into modular etc.. but yeah the mix here sounds excellent.
Yes man ... live it so much...😊😊
as a drumbrute impact owner I love seeing people rock it!!! nice job man very hypnotic

This is awesome. Showing that you don't need a monster setup to to get an amazing sound :)
Really happy to find you at 2 minutes my spirits started soaring

Break @15:09 = nice! I especially like the throaty esoteric mellowtron choir kinda sound. It is the sound you open the track with. How was it made?
That's a pad I recorded on my laptop (using Vital) that I sampled into the Nebulae V2 for granulizing!
hella sick brah
Jesus this is sick. 20:00 onwards is 🔥
Man, thats cool. Do more.
Beautiful vibe.
Good Good Good 🙏🙏🙏

Awesome quality stuff!
Thanks man
Omg, that is really amazing! How did you manage to create that high-hats-like pattern sound that starts at 3:57?
That's just some noise through a bandpass filter haha. Modulating the VCF cutoff with Marbles, and using just some envelope to control a VCA
That's just genious!
Hey Rick, Awesome jam as usual! What pieces comprise your eurorack?

Good mix but why your hands moving ?
Thanks! And I'm playing this live, so I have to move my hands haha
Make your own live bangers and you'll understand why😉
