I have a 2015 Mazda 6 Grand Touring with all the bells and whistles. I hit 120,000 miles mark this week and the car still drives amazing!!! I am convinced I can drive my Mazda up to 300,000 miles easy! It is THE MOST RELIABLE VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED!! I also get 30 miles a gallon city and highway combined. The handling of Mazda 6 is legendary as well. Mazda 6 is truly THE BEST VEHICLE IN ITS CLASS, PERIOD!

Sadly, it is underrated. This is my second Mazda, chances are I will get another one in the future probably when the concept RX becomes a reality!!!
The 2018+ models already have the new design language(From a distance, the 2018+ Mazda6 and new Mazda3 look pretty similar), it just that the new platform for Mazda’s larger cars aren’t ready yet.(Which will bring the new Mazda3’s switchgear, infotainment, AWD, etc.) Other than that, there’s not much more Mazda could do with it.
Holy smokes, I have the xse Camry and Madza gives you so much more features and utility, hell even the Avalon doesn’t have power folding mirrors and it’s 4 grand more than the Camry!
I have the 2017 Mazda 6 Grand Touring. 31,000 miles so far. Not a single problem. It's a beautiful car. I think because it's made 100% in Japan, these are great cars. Even the 187 hp engine is plenty quick. Just got my wife a new CX-9, which has the 250 hp turbo engine. Her "dream car." It's a huge, 3-row-seating SUV and feels very quick with this engine. I imagine that engine (310 ft lbs of torque) in the Mazda 6 is VERY fast. Styling is great. Comfort is great. Features are great. The sport mode works, not that you even need it to merge or pass. Very fun to drive. I've never timed it, but it is very fast from 30 to 70 -- needed for highway merging. Again, I have the old, non-turbo engine. Fast when you want, you can feel the road, but also so quiet when cruising at all speeds that you can't even hear the engine. I sometimes can't tell if the engine is on when in park either--totally quiet when idling. Never feels like it might stall, like every American car I've ever owned did. It's solid. I'm struggling right now with whether to get another one when my lease ends, only because Mazda does not have the "prestige," which is unfair to Mazda. (My daughter doesn't like Mazda. She wants me to get a BMW.) Because Mazda doesn't have the "prestige," they have to offer something extra great to try to get market share. Mazda is punching _way_ above its weight (and price). Way above. Frankly, don't tell Mazda, but they should raise their prices and simply declare themselves in the luxury class. In what way is a Lexis any better than this car??? Can anyone tell me? The Mazda 6 Signature trim is a $55,000 (sticker price) car, just looking at what it offers vs. BMW 530i (the 4-cylinder BMW). It has and does everything. Same luxury inside. More power and probably better engine. The 6-speed transmission is proven. It's silky smooth--don't need 8 gears, apparently. It never breaks. This car is as nice as a BMW 5 series (4 cylinder version - Mazda turbo engine has more power), or nicer, certainly better looking than the BMW box style that continues to remain in the 1980s, and probably more reliable. For $35k, you can get either a brand new Mazda 6 signature or a BMW 530i with 30,000 miles. I know for a fact the new Mazda 6 would go at least 60,000 miles without any sort of problem whatsoever. On the other hand, I see BMW loaner cars all over the road. My wife had an old 80s Mazda that had about 200,000 miles and was still running when she sold it.
I liked when he played Chasing Cars to show off that Bose stereo system. Also...I came to this review because I drove a Mazda 6 and Mazda 3 and Mazda CX-5 last night because I need to buy a new car. All were really nice and solid and comfortable but I think I have decided to go back and get a 6 with that off white color leather! It’s really a nice car. This review helped me decide. Thanks Gold Pony!
mb13972 I have it and just keep some black seat covers available that I use most of the time. They look good. There are times when I’ve kept a towel on the seat too. Yes a small inconvenience but it’s my 4th Mazda and they look new when I trade them in every 3 years
Mazda is so underrated. I sold my Yamama R6 for a CX-5 after I got a dog and it was definitely the nicest and best priced crossover I looked at. Low price with a luxurious feel.
I bought this car in Mexico - Signature series 2020 - only $30,000 here with the same features. Awesome car, only weakness is the Info-Entertainment system which is too basic. However CarPlay solves this issue.
I have a 2019 Mazda 6 sport and I LOVE IT!! I've always been a Chrysler kinda person, and never ever looked twice at a Mazda until I stepped foot into one. I was shook!! For sure. Chrysler will always have a place in my auto heart lol but wow!! I'm very impressed with Mazda so many features that most luxury cars have and at a very reasonable price. Also just the way the car feels rides very quiet in both cabin and motor also the seats are very very comfortable. My mazda already has a lil over 18,000 miles on it as I like road tripping and my daily commute to work. Nonetheless no back issues or uncomfortable issues with the seats. My only complaints is I wish Mazda would step it up with the screen size of the infotainment system, it could be much larger and also not being able to access the touch screen while car is in motion. Other than that I give it a 4.5 out of a 5
Did u know that when u leave or forget the key fob in the trunk.. the trunk will not shut close completely.. it will pop right back open! How awesome to avoid accidental lock outs if dropping or forgetting your keys in the trunk.
I like my 17 touring 6. A huge disappointment is they went to cylinder deactivation on the non turbo model in 2018. Stupid idea and they had a massive recall over it. A 4cyl car so good on gas doesn’t need to run in 2cyl mode.
@@aadi8568 Have you seen the interior of the Honda Accord? The infotainment system is so smooth and has apple and android car play. And Toyota has the reliability I think but the interior is not as nice.
@@dav__made I was talking about mazda, not Toyota. That has a nice infotainment with Android Auto, and the swivel wheel makes it easy to control on the road, and prevents nasty fingerprints. And nothing in the class can beat the materials used in the Mazda6, it is the "poshest" cabin in the class by far, it rivals German brands such as Audi or bmw. And Mazda was definitely unreliable in the past (ford partnership) but now they split, the brand has been making reliable cars, they are the 2nd most reliable brand after Toyota/Lexus (I grouped them together as they were the same brand)
Currently driving 2017 Grand Touring, it’s my 4th one ....flawless performance on all of the ones I’ve driven. My lease is up in October..probably going to get another
I own a 2018 Mazda6, same trim as this video. When I was cross-shopping, I was expecting the worst because of the complaining online about infotainment. I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not the flashiest, but it actually works very well. The gauge cluster could be fancier, but the smaller screen on the right is color, looks very nice, and is a nicer implementation than simply a rectangle in between the gauges. Overall, I think people are getting too caught up with fancy graphics and large screens that look pretty for UA-cam videos and initial wow factor, but don’t actually perform or provide any real benefit or functionality. The problems with Subaru’s new infotainment(see savagegeese’s recent Outback Review) should show that there is more to good infotainment than simply putting in a huge screen and fancy graphics. Mazda’s system also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and what impressed me was the fact that center command and quick access buttons actually change their programming when AC is in use. So if my iPhone is plugged in and I hit the Nav button, it jumps to Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze depending what I last selected. Same with the music button. Even without CarPlay, the stock infotainment has no problems recognizing my playlists, contacts, etc and integrates them seamlessly. I didn’t even try CarPlay for at least two weeks after purchasing the car, because stock infotainment works that well.
I have a 2018 Signature trim, and the infotainment setup is the main let down on the car. While it works, and you get used to using it, graphics are from five years ago, and the interface is laggy.
Just traded in my 2007 Mazda 3 for this. Absolutely love it. It feels sturdy. The doors are nice and heavy. This car doesn't feel cheap at all and has a lot of go.
Traded a Chevy pickup in on a 2020 Touring edition (white with sand leather interior, gorgeous), and even without the turbo or the paddle shifters, it gets out of its own way nicely. The one thing I would like Mazda to fix is the smartphone USB connector under the lid of the console glovebox - it's a bit too high, and at an angle, so when you close the lid, the pressure will push the USB cord downward and break the USB connection. A right-angle USB cable fixes the problem.
Is a beautiful car but those gauges and the infotainment system needs an update asap!!!!, Really design, power and driving mechanics are there is just a shame their tech is lacking behind so bad from the competition.
If Mazda updates the 6 design, make it a RWD car, and put the Skyactiv-X engine in to give it 40 mpg, it will steal a lot of sales from BMW for sure. I would definitely buy one (I currently own the 2007 CX9 and it's time to get another car.)
I wish if Mazda provided a manual trans and AWD with torque vectoring facility .. I reckon this chasis if installed with RWD ..this would be one hell of a car
Why doesn't Mazda offer front and rear park assist as an optional package on all trims? Premium Pkg. on Volvo S60 gives you both of those necessary features, especially for city drivers and parallel parking. Otherwise this Grand Touring Reserve review was great. I'm almost sold!
Looked seriously at the Mazda6 (Signature) along with the Accord Touring 2.0L and the Camry XSE V6 last year. On my scorecard it came out a close second to the Honda. In terms of exterior styling it took first place. A beautiful car (imo.) The interior was especially attractive but its aging infotainment system (unchanged for 2020) didn't match the Honda. And while the placement of USB ports in the rear seat fold down console was unique, it meant that three passengers in the rear seat eliminated access to ANY USB ports. The Mazda also came up significantly short of the Honda in terms of both trunk space and rear seat legroom. All in all, the features and materials in the top trim Accord matched the Mazda. Most striking though was the performance of the Mazda6. I've owned several Mazdas and I like the brand. The engine specs for the 2.5L turbo suggested especially strong performance. But while stronger than the same engine in the much larger and heavier CX-9, it didn't match either the Accord or the Camry in terms of straight line acceleration. That surprising result came about, I think, from two factors. First, while the aging six speed AT was adequate in the Mazda, it didn't match the performance of the 10 speed transmission in the Honda or the eight speed unit in the Camry. More important, though, was the fact that Mazda obviously limited the power of the engine off the line to cope with the 310 ft lbs of torque the engine puts out. Again, the performance was adequate but nowhere near as strong as one would expect from the spec sheet. Nor as strong as either the Civic Type R derived Honda or the V6 Camry. Though 0-60 times aren't the be all and end all of performance, it's surprising that the Mazda6 is about a half second or more slower to 60 mph than either the Honda or the Camry. Of course, what Mazdas are known for is their handling. And the Mazda6 acquitted itself well on that score. But what had once been a major advantage compared to the Accord and the Camry has largely disappeared in the current generation of the Honda and the Toyota. Those rivals are simply far better than before and the Mazda's advantage is minor, at best. The Mazda6 is still an attractive alternative to some of its major rivals but Mazda's limited resources compared to other manufacturers means they're a step behind in terms of development. And that has meant the shrinking midsize sedan market hasn't been a primary focus for Mazda.
Key insight here, Bravo 👏. Mazda IMO has always been about quality, engaging driving experience, and proud "I'll do it my way and show you why it's the best/why I'm the best regardless of the hand I'm delt." I feel they are just now showing the beginning of their true potential. This appeals to me very much/why I can't help but believe in them. Its frustrating and fascinating to see them grow as a potential buyer. They check alot of my boxes and they are oooh so close on getting me to pull the trigger, but it's always "Not yet."😩😩😩😩😩😫😫. Fiendishly waiting on more news/reveal on the 2021 Mazda 6. Fingers Crossed! 🙏🙏 Please be the one!!
@@moeanthony9308 Yeah you're right, but like I said the 2020 is close, but frustrating not what I'm willing to settle for. The 2021 News along with I've seen happen to the new Mazda 3 steels my resolve to wait.
Not at all... have you ever get in a bmw? They are very simple and not that much luxurious at all... im looking at both and bmw lose on everything but performence and german drivability which is great... but mazda blow it off heavily on luxury
My issue is I want to get a 6 but I have a 19 3 and it looks and feels so much better on the inside than the outdated look of the 6. Mainly the info screen being plopped in there like an after thought and all of the buttons feel like mush (To include turn signal levers). Yes I know im comparing a redesign to a later model I know this. Its a personal preference for me and maybe others. These are the only things I do not like about the 6. They are also the reason I went with the 3 over the 6 when buying. When they get around to updating the 6 or maybe the rumors of the new RX-7/8 ill go for it
You neglected to mention that the turbocharged engine is optional with AWD on the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature trim levels and also if you use premium fuel, you'll be making 250hp versus 227hp...
I agree with most of your commentary. Man, but your choice of music sucked. You cannot expect to be able to demonstrate the full capacity and finer qualities of this Mazda6 Reserve's Bose radio and sound system with that song. The song lacked depth. It did not inherently come with a complete, comprehensive, and expansive representation of as many musical instruments in an expertly designed composition. Your choice of musical composition needed to effectively demonstrate varying dynamics that run the gamut from highs [treble] to lows [bass]. It needed to exemplify switches among orchestral sections like percussion, wind, and string, not to mention vocals if included. Your choice of music did not effectively demonstrate the beauty and technological capacity of the car's sound system. But as always, your analysis of these beauties on four wheels is always on point. You just gained another follower. I liked and subscribed.
The only Japanese brands I would give my full trust as of 2020: 1. Lexus/Toyota 2. Mazda since Skyactive engine They are proven to be reliable since they are car brands that equip their variant models with conventional AT instead of CVT (garbage and expensive to maintain if fails). Mazda has most of their lineup build in Japan with the exception some of the newer model of CX-30 are built in Mexico...
There’s no savings on 87 octane. Less horsepower, less engine power, and more gas consumption and engine knocking. 87 is for single cylinder like the lawn mower. Nice review though.
Ya I don’t like it either, rather have real petro with no ethanol myself, only 1 station sells it here in my area. 90 octane pure gasoline.. it costs the same as 93 octane with ethanol. It runs a lot smoother and gets as good mpg and power. I think they water it down then add ethanol until the octane gets high enough. Idk? Just guessing. Airplanes still get leaded 112 octane pure petro. They burn a lot of it to. The turbo engine burns the 85 octane stuff out west with good power but they do rattle the valve terrain.
Mazda should of put Goodyear Touring tires on the Mazda 6 that Nissan Maxima and Honda Accord sport has. Those Falken tires are ok for quietness but it hinders it from handling better
Great review as always. Considered the Mazda 6 a few months ago but had to pass. Interior and exterior styling, finish and ride is very good for the class. It also has pretty good acceleration and steering feel, however, I was looking for a little more handling and acceleration than what the 6 offered and had to go with the Genesis G70 3.3T RWD. Would love to see a trim level which is TRULY SPORT oriented with more like 300 HP and more athletic handling. I'll definitely check out the Mazda 6 again in 2 1/2 years when my current lease is up.
tim johnson Toyota will be using the Mazda inline 6 motor for the Lexus IS in its next generation. From what I have heard it might have some sort of hybrid tech from Toyota. So it could be a rebadged Lexus with a Mazda badge on it.
been thinking of a used g70 2.0t to replace my 2015 M 6. Brand new though, I dont think you can even compare the 2 cars. The g70 wins every day of the week. If you can afford the higher price, then the g70 is a no brainer ( and i am a huge fan of both brands) .
@@timgt5 The rumors were saying its going to underpin the next generation Toyota Mark X and or the next gen Lexus GS, time will tell, but I'm every excited about the prospects of a 4th gen Mazda 6.
The Mazdas (ezpecially the sedan) are fabulous. However, I miss the fog lights in the 2016 model. I also use to beat other vehicles in my Mazda 6 without the turbo. The turbo engine drinks more fuel. Oh, be careful, hit the accelerator too quickly and you will squeal your tires. Don't do this in front of a cop.
I have the 2014 model, yesterday was the yearly inspection and the control arms rubbers were already worn and must be changed, this after 5 year's. The Car makes cracking noise overall. I am rally good to my car and don't drive it like crazy and in Netherland we have very good roads. What I'm saying is, Mazda is an really nice looking car, but quality wise it is not that good. Always interesting to see the different specs for different markets. In Australia all Mazda 6's from the base to the top range get the larger brakes and the HUD is on all grades as well.
Octane numbers are displayed differently in the US and Europe. 87 in the US is basically 91 in Europe. Your 100 in Europe is basically 95 in the US. Feel free to look it up.
The styling hasn't changed much for about 7 years and looks like the last year they made the Pontiac 6. The interior looks classy but the computer screen display just sticks up and looks out of place. It needs to be inserted into the dash. The exterior looks tired and outdated 2 years ago.
Adjusting the steering column tilt and distance when the vehicle is in motion is an extremely stupid thing to do. You have effectively disengaged the steering of the car when you are doing so. (It says this in the car’s manual...)
cabin noise from wind and tires plus eating up brake rotors every 8000 miles is why i got rid of my mazda 6gt in a year and a half...never replaced or turned rotors in a vehicle before. also always felt like sinking in the leather seat always had to adjust rear view mirror because sit position never same and couldn't stand the white gauges esp @night

mb13972 I have it and just keep some black seat covers available that I use most of the time.
I bought this car in Mexico - Signature series 2020
- only $30,000 here with the same features.
Huh cool didn't know! 👍
I like my 17 touring 6. A huge disappointment is they went to cylinder deactivation on the non turbo model in 2018. Stupid idea and they had a massive recall over it. A 4cyl car so good on gas doesn’t need to run in 2cyl mode.
Dream set up for daily:
-Mazda 6 exterior
-Honda Accord Interior
-Toyota Camry engine reliability
But mazda has great interior and reliability anyways
This is the EXACT car I was going to ask you to review! Heck yeah 👍
Currently driving 2017 Grand Touring, it’s my 4th one ....flawless performance on all of the ones I’ve driven. My lease is up in October..probably going to get another
If their dash and infotainment could catch up to the 21st century it’d be a slam dunk. Mazda needs to pump some cash into their tech development.
@Bish Bish To be fair; it does not appear the 6 has received the full updated interior and infotainment like the 3 and the 30.
I totally agree with you and hopefully Mazda will listen to you.
They need to bring back the manual transmission in the Mazda6!
A right-angle USB cable fixes the problem.
first time watching one of your videos... you go so in depth, I'm amazed... definitely got yourself a new subscriber 👍
Appreciate it! 😁
What a suprise to see a review from a mazda from my home town.
That’s a hella nice piece of Car right there
I wish if Mazda provided a manual trans and AWD with torque vectoring facility .. I reckon this chasis if installed with RWD ..this would be one hell of a car
I love Mazda 6 just because it was manufactured in Japan !!!
How is mazda not a luxury brand yet
Tear Blood it’s not meant to be
They have rx9 mazda but they are illegal in the states check it out
Love my 2019 signature edition.
That's a review in itself. Wow
@@ShawnDavid91 Probably get a steal of deal with all thats happening.
@@moeanthony9308 Yeah you're right, but like I said the 2020 is close, but frustrating not what I'm willing to settle for. The 2021 News along with I've seen happen to the new Mazda 3 steels my resolve to wait.
@@ShawnDavid91 Hey Shawn thanks for response. What concerns you about Mazda 3?
I love how Mazda sounds 👍
Especially if you get a good aftermarket exhaust system on the 6 it sounds mean
Excellent car still! Great review as usual. One love.
why are the ads still showing up for this Mazda 6 if the decision has been given as a No to an 2023 upgrade?
The interior looks like BMW
For a fraction, of a fraction of the price :)
When they get around to updating the 6 or maybe the rumors of the new RX-7/8 ill go for it
Interior looks really awesome as you said....zoom zoom!! :)
If only that trim came with the option to NOT have the sunroof, and still keep the 17in wheels for a softer ride.
this is the best presentation i have seen, should have done a little more on the engine, thanks
You neglected to mention that the turbocharged engine is optional with AWD on the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature trim levels and also if you use premium fuel, you'll be making 250hp versus 227hp...
there is no AWD in mazda 6 bro..
@@saiprasad6964 don't know where you're from but the option will be available here
The Mazda 6 IS my "Dream Car"! I forget all about Mercedes & BMW!!!!
Yeah, I'm good wirh the sport model for that money. 👍🏻😉
Everyone says Mazda for the win.
So WHY IS NO ONE BUYING THEM!?
So what's the difference between this one and the other ones that you mentioned?!
Where can I see the pressure on the Mazda 6 2019 in the infotainment system separately for each tire?
Love it!
I just got the touring Saturday. Looking at the engine ..... where is the transmission fluid tank?!?! What the hell is DEF fluid?!
Hoping that you can do a mazda 3 2020 with the manual. Im looking to upgrade my 3 for this year.
I'll certainly try! 👍
The only Japanese brands I would give my full trust as of 2020:
1. Lexus/Toyota
2. Mazda since Skyactive engine
They are proven to be reliable since they are car brands that equip their variant models with conventional AT instead of CVT (garbage and expensive to maintain if fails).
Knock sensors were invented for a reason. When the sensor senses knock/predetination it retards timing to prevent engine damage.
Although I do agree with you. I wouldn't run anything less than premium in a turbo engine. I only run premium in my ecoboost
I love your reviews..
Thanks!
Mazda should of put Goodyear Touring tires on the Mazda 6 that Nissan Maxima and Honda Accord sport has. Those Falken tires are ok for quietness but it hinders it from handling better
After the first tires row you can put whatever you prefer.
I love the quiet smoothness though.
@@kevinW826 Mazda is the one developing the large car platform and inline 6, not Toyota.
Dee T I know. But it’s always a possibility since Mazda and Toyota are working together. Just look at the z4/supra and the brz/86.
The best for ever mazda till the end
I have the 2014 model, yesterday was the yearly inspection and the control arms rubbers were already worn and must be changed, this after 5 year's. The Car makes cracking noise overall. I am rally good to my car and don't drive it like crazy and in Netherland we have very good roads. What I'm saying is, Mazda is an really nice looking car, but quality wise it is not that good. Before the Mazda i had VW Polo, after 12 years, there was no such problem with Polo. All Car many factors gone bad (quality wise). All made bad Cars for to much money.
