1. Establish your AA pokes
2. BB when your opponent crouches
3. Use Break Attacks to pressure defensive opponents
4. Establish your AA after Break Attacks to discourage retaliation
5. Be careful of faster pokes in Neutral
6. Beat out fast highs with you Down+Horizontal Slash (2A)
7. Open up the opponent with Lows when defensive
8. Toss in throws against defensive opponent when at an advantage
9. When you're at disadvantage, please Block.
10. However, you can Guard Impact (GI) predictable retaliations
11. You can launch after a successful GI if you have enough advantage (+20 or more approx.)
12. Move safely with Step Guard (Step-G)!
*Additional Notes
- Throws in SoulCalibur are performed by pressing A+G or 4A+G. A+G throws are broken by pressing an action button (such as "A") + a direction other than back upon the throw. 4A+G throws are broken by pressing back + an action button upon the throw. Throw ranges vary between the characters. Characters like Nightmare have a large throw range whereas characters like Xianghua have small throw ranges. Characters such as Ivy or Astaroth in particular have strong command grabs requiring more complex inputs, with smaller throw escape windows.
- If you get knocked down, you can either just lie down on the ground (and block from the ground if attacked!) Or tech roll by pressing the Guard button + a direction right as you hit the ground. Beware of "Tech Traps", which are setups designed to hit you during a tech roll since tech rolls don't have complete invincibility. If the opponent uses tech traps, just lie on the ground and block what you can, if the opponent tries to immediately pressure or hit you on the ground a lot, back tech roll "ukemi" if you need to create space.
- Reversal Edges can be beaten by sidestepping then punishing like a linear Break Attack (or Nightmare's CE!). And before you ask, you can Reversal Edge a Reversal Edge.
- Nightmare's "AA" is actually i16, not i18 (Seong Mina's is i18)
*i10 Strikes: AA, 6B, etc.
- Cassandra
- Taki
- Xianghua
- Yoshimitsu
- Amy
- Azwel (Requires "Sword Mode")
*Slower than i12 AA's
- Astaroth (i20)
- Seong Mina (i18)
- Nightmare (i16)
- Siegfried (i16)
- Voldo (i14)
- Haohmaru (i14)
For Directional Notation
7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3
Each number represents the corresponding direction. 1 for "Down-Back", 9 for "Up-Forward", 5 for "Neutral" or no input, etc. Quarter-Circle Back = 214, Quarter-Circle Forward = 236, Half-Circle Back = 63214, Half-Circle Forward = 41236, etc.
For Input commands:

B = Vertical Attack
K = Kick
G = Guard Button
6G = Guard Impact
A+G = First Throw
4A+G = Second Throw
6B+G = Resist Impact

( ) = Held Input
: = Just Frame Input

So when do you think we're getting SCVII? This decade? Apologies if the mic is too soft. My normal mic (Blue Yeti), comes off as too sensitive for PS5 recordings.

I’ll be really sad when we get SCVII, since I’ll have to stop playing 2B in my favorite fighting game.
It's hard to believe SCVI has been out for nearly 5 years. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for SCVII.
Time has been flying on the game, and it still holds up great! The pandemic back in 2020 really stifled its momentum and potential growth. I think SCVII deserves a fair chance.
Rumor in Japan it’s being worked on. I fn hope so. 🤞
Good to see you back! Hopefully they release a non tekken 3d fighter in the fgc space sooner or later, preferably soul cal!
Likely after Tekken 8 *Crosses fingers*.
I think the priority should be to implement a strong single player mode, games today are so lacky on that department, a strong single player mode that allows you to explore the lore and develop your characters instead of another fighting game that feels like all the Soul Calibur games before but with less deffensive options.
Yes! Definitely. I loved SCII a couple decades ago and its Weapon Master mode. SCVI made a step in the right direction with its Libra of Souls RPG mode, but I'd love for it to be fleshed out a bit better in a SCVII!
it will come out after T8
Tekken 8 came out.
Thx for the tips..been banging this out with my cousin everyday, so looking for any tips…going to check out your other sc vids
You're welcome! Enjoy the game, it's a blast!
Welcome back, hopefully we get a new game soon
Indeed. *Crosses fingers*
I missed your content! Keep the FG scene alive!
Sweet 🤩 thanks for the tips 👍
No problem buddy! 👍
I'm thinking of getting it but how's the community on pc?
On Steam? Unfortunately it's quite modest, though a lot of niche FG's are like that.
Pc is the place most actual players play on since the connection online is much stronger.
I found more people on PS4. You also see more ragequiters in PC.
I've been looking into this game recently. Do you think it's a good fit for someone who plays 2D fighters way more than he should?
Hmm... Yeah, SCV & SCVI are decent fits for people that normally play 2D fighters. Lots of mechanics to adjust to however.
If memory serves, SC6 was a miracle. The devs threatened to end the series after the failure of SC5. I highly doubt there will be a new installment anytime soon if ever. Certain games are just dead.
Soul caliber 6 = 2B simulator. The game is dead cause I’m tired of fighting against 2B
If they make a SoulCalibur 7 they need to remake the whole thing. What I mean is that they need to repolished and redesign how you play that game and make it more like Tekken. I’m tired of pressing X to to block I’m not if that game game not being combo centric. They also gotta slow that shit down a little and add some more gameplay stuff like T7 did.
Just remodel and redesign the whole thing. And also? Add more characters for heavens sake. There are so many SoulCalibur characters it’s crazy.
A big NO to this comment.
@@SeventhheavenDK Facts. Just play Tekken
