The first helicopter I had contact was a Hughes 500C when I was 15 days old. I really love this thing. I became a pilot but I have never flown a 500. It's a dream I want to fulfill. This is a great chopper.
I remember flying as a kid in these things and just looking out the front window brings back memories! The smell of the fuel and everything, I would love to do this again
AB Helicopters Ltd. I like the high skid gear! My dad years ago had a Hughes 500C and before that, s Hughes 300C. The Hughes 500C was flown over power lines for weed control. And the Hughes 300C was used the same thing.
Hi there William, thank you for the comment - yes the 500 is a great bit of kit, very versatile! The 300 has its uses too, through not as many and obviously not as fast or as powerful as it’s older brother!!
Oh yeah!!!! Close to perfect video. It was nice seeing the guages and track. ( And the cockpit chatter) ..wish that Robbie hadn't photo bombed the liftoff.🤣😂. Nice video, great flying! Thanks for letting us sit in the "back seat"
gosh this heli is so col! ive never ever flown a helicopter before, im probably too young to do so, but i would love to one day, im sure its very hard, but i would love to spend time and learn,!
Another cool video I really enjoyed watching it!. Now I know what I wanna do at first when I travel to England 🏴. Definitely a flight with the MD500 🚁👍🏼‼️
Years ago I worked at a small county airport in Ohio, in my 6 years at that job I flow or went for a ride in 36 different type's of aircraft . three of them were helos ,the500 D was the most fun I ever had...... That saying a lot
I was just about to do my QXC when the lockdown came. Hopefully will have the rest of the course done by the end of the summer. Then the MD500 type rating is a goal.
@@ABHelicopters thanks, yes hopefully. I'm just flying the R22 at the moment but I am a fixed wing instructor who flies a range of types from the Cirrus to a 1943 T6 so I have always been pretty progressive with my flying. Naturally I don't expect to jump from the Robinson to the 500 in an easy step but I believe in setting goals. The obvious turbine would be the 66 of course but who wants to be obvious!
The 500 is a perfectly reasonable step from pistons to turbine world. Along with the Bell206, often, they are not substantially more expensive than a piston powered R44 , and given your experience on a range of fixed wing aircraft the additional gauges to monitor in a turbine helicopter (eg Turbine outlet temp, N1 , torque) should not increase your workload dramatically, especially in comparison to a T6!
Hi, I am from SLOVENIA and in our country nobody has MD500.E Can anyone help me or know where in the neighboring countries so Italy, Austria, Croatia, Hungary it would be possible to fly with it. thanxs Alex
At 3:38 who's doing the 150ft hovering auto in the 44? haha, bonus footage! Another great video and awesome to see you in front the camera, keep up the good work. Channel is going from strength to strength!

It’s a great ‘pilot’ machine - and I am sure it will live up to your expectations when you finally get your hands on one!
AB Helicopters,,, I’m ready to see more content on the MD-500
Hey there ! Hope you are well, it’s been a while since the last 500 video, hope to have a few up later this month
The tail number made me laugh! Great reference there haha
I remember flying as a kid in these things and just looking out the front window brings back memories! The smell of the fuel and everything, I would love to do this again
Superb flying you are an excellent pilot 🚁
Thanks but there is always something new to learn, something you can improve on with every flight !!

Like anything - if you put your mind to it and practice, it becomes much easier !!
The confined area landing is the most challenging but very small short correction on the controls
It was a very windy day
Another cool video I really enjoyed watching it!.
Now I know what I wanna do at first when I travel to England 🏴. Definitely a flight with the MD500 🚁👍🏼‼️
They are a great aircraft to fly - very responsive and lots of spare power !
Great flying by your student and I love every flight
8:30 I found myself puckering a bit seeing all the wind in the trees during the confined area landing. Wow, that's flying.
It was tight , certainly, but the 500 is a great , nimble and manoeuvrable machine which gives the pilots confidence to land in tight spaces
I'm glad I'm back in the MD-500
The 500, 600 & 900 N's are my favt. Simply b/c they have NOTAR
We need to get our hands on one!
As stated before, thanks for the entertainment. Hopefully one day, we will meet in person.

why do they both have their feet on the pedals? is that normal?
Yes, if you have two pilots onboard, especially if one is in training, it’s normal to ‘guard’ or ‘follow through’ on the controls
nice video well done a+ AB Helicopters Ltd
Thank you for the feedback - glad you enjoyed!
What’s the Big Piece Of Sheet Metal On Top Of the Instrument Panel For?
Do you mean the glare shield or the iPad mount ?

Never a dull moment at Denham! Thanks for the kind words though - as ever , any feedback or suggestions for improvements are welcome!
Is this an updated version of the Loach the US Army operated in the Vietnam war in '69?
Hi that model have auto pilot?
Hi there , no that particular 500 didn’t have any type of autopilot or SAS installed
My local field, I used to be on the "red" helicopter that flew out of there ;)
Which field ?
Ah - the hems one?
I would really like to get my heli ticket, this would be awsome, just need to commit.
Let us know if you have any questions and we can try and answer them before you dive in!
Me too - I've been up in one and I'm a natural (robinson R44) but this guy is lucky! MD 500!! I so hate him!!!! Some nice flying there :)
Andrew can you get me in on one of your flights so I can get back into it again for a few hours of dual

Hello Robert - how do you mean?
I want to get back in the 500
Would have been better if you wouldn’t of done split screen.
Thanks for the feedback ?
I want to come out and fly with you anytime
Too many damn commercials , quit watching after the second bunch
Sorry about that - we have adjusted the settings on UA-cam to reduce the number and duration!
One day we will get together
Did you like the new style of video - with the intro- or go back to the old style ?
Drop the talking head.
Thanks for the feedback- you might find it helpful to skip ahead to 2:53 or try another of our Md500 videos which don’t feature an introduction
Too many commercial interruptions. I left the video unwatched to the end.
Sorry to hear that! We will review the advertising policy on that video and we hope you can enjoy other videos we have
Too many unsafe maneuvers.
