Great to see you Andrew back again Flying the MD-500 and its best that you do because the R-22 and the R-44 or the turbine models are to be sold and get another 500
As light turbine helicopters go, this is one of the most simple and manoeuvreable , though many people learn on piston powered helicopters first due to the reduced cost
@@ABHelicopters aah hence why i think this training is relatively cheap. Awesome. Opens op a lot of opportunities. I am sure there is quite a speed difference when it comes to turbine helicopters?
@@WorivpuqloDMogh You might find the following video about the ppl of use- search : ‘How to be a helicopter pilot? Guide to the PPL’ As for the speed - it’s not quite as simple as turbine engine making the helicopter faster , but certainly turbine engines have a much better power to weight ratio, so the helicopters usually can go slightly quicker , but other aerodynamic factors , such as blade design, skids and airframe shape and size influence the top speed.
I have a tremendous desire to fly one of these every day of my life. I've been watching your videos for a while, but this one is truly my favorite. It's perfect for my visual vision board. =) Thanks for the upload!

Did my first flight in the Jet Ranger yesterday. One step closer to flying this dream machine. Please make more autorotation/rundown videos. I’ve been told that she falls like a brick!
Congrats on your first flight in the 206- great heli ! Will do- your right - it doesn’t auto as far as a Huey , say , but If you have any experience in the HU269/ Schweitzer 300, then you won’t have any surprises!
Long term its slightly cheaper - and doesn’t have the 2 year replacement of the TT Straps The following discussion board item may be of interest www.pprune.org/archive/index.php/t-277058.html
Thanks for the support and appreciation of the videos - unfortunately I haven’t had the opportunity to fly the 500 for a while, but hopefully you enjoy the EC135/145 videos
The pedals are used to control the direction you face when hovering , and to keep the helicopter flying ‘in trim’ - ie the direction of flight , at higher speeds. The stick between your legs controls the roll (side to side ) and pitch (nose up and down ) of the helicopter . The throttle we don’t need to adjust in normal flight as a hydro mechanical governor adjusts the fuel flow automatically
What Allison model is this? On the C-20B we use I never see such high and fast TOT spikes on startup. It's more slow and gradual to a a peak (650-700 usually) and then decreases. Are you using the battery to start perhaps?
I noticed he had some concerns on continuing to climb ' with the anti torque pedals in the neutral position the tail rotor has a medium positive pitch angle and in medium positive pitch the tail rotor thrust approximately equals the torque of the main rotor during Cruise flight so the helicopter maintains a constant heading in level flight
@@ABHelicopters I am flying the C20B in a round nose Delta model and feels great knowing that you have extra engine power to play with. I just dont know how does it fare in pointed nose Echo model which i believe a heavier fuselage than C
I haven’t noticed a huge difference between the D and the E with the modded nose to be honest , and I have limited experience with the older C18 engine

Hi Tim, thanks for the comment- unfortunately the audio is about a second and a half out of sync - (forward) of the video - what happens next is a forward movement of the cyclic - nose down - unloading of the rotor disk - which is avoided in a R44 ( or any teetering rotor head ) in fact the R44 has a note on the cyclic - ‘Low G pushovers prohibited’.
Depends where from - and where you are crossing - it is possible to go from a back garden to another back garden - without talking to anyone - as long as neither landing pads - or the route - takes you through controlled airspace
Sometimes - even if you don’t need too- we check in with air traffic control- perhaps asking for a basic service - just to get the local weather conditions or find out if there is much activity in the local area - flying wise
4 plus the pilot ? Or 4 including the pilot ? If so- consider the R44 (4 seats) or the Bell 206 Jetranger (5 seats) - EC120 (5 seats) or Bell 505 (5 seats) - Robinson R66 (5 seats)
Great video to familiarize thank you. Love the one screen graphics very helpful. You guys rock, happy holidays 🎉
Thank you! Likewise !
Fabulous video! So envious, the 500 is truly my most favourite helicopter in the world, would love to have a fly in one some day
It will be well worth the wait! It’s great fun to fly
I knew I was in the right place as soon as I saw the registration!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Nice engine sound!
Thank you !
I'm amazed how sensitive it is
Most people are- it’s very sensitive- only very slight movements required- thumb and forefinger!!!

That was a battery start , correct !
It is a c20b
What the two electronic flight instruments installed are? I can see a Garmin at the bootom and a combined flight director - hsi at the top
Aspin for the combined artificial horizon and HSI , and Garmin gps / radio / transponder for the bottom

Do you mind rephrasing this in simple language?
How is you tablet case mounted? Drilled into the dash or a clamp?
Love the rendition of the cockpit in this 500. The giant window unquartered gives a fantastic view. Is this an option on all models?
It was an STC from a company in the USA that unfortunately is no longer in production - it’s a great mod and really adds to the look of the aircraft
Where is the pittot tube on the hughes500?
Under the canopy / aircraft nose
WOW!

Does it have a governor?
Yes it has a power turbine governor

All depends on the age and the time remaining on the components - very approximately between £700k to 1.2million for a ‘good’ md500e
