Most likely tried to stuff their victory in your face with an unnecessary spike, like most everyone who dunks on Ganondorf despite his poor recovery. There's a slight chance they didn't know whether you'd be able to recover or not, but I imagine most people are more likely to underestimate Ganon's recovery rather than overestimate it.
