I did expect the Bassman to clean up, especially with that Staple pickup. Something you didn't mention about your '54RI M2M, 1957 and earlier Les Paul Customs utilize a 1-Piece solid mahogany body, the carved top is not a separate piece/pieces of wood. I find that design spec fascinating, the entire body requires its own manufacturing process since there is no top affixed after routing wiring channels like a Les Paul Standard.
Absolutely one of my all time favorite Les Paul guitars. I'd love to see a '54 RI Les Paul Custom in all natural, the idea of the 1-piece body including the carved mahogany top is just too special to cover up with an opaque finish.
These old amps and vintage guitars keep sounding better and better with age and guys doing it right like yourself sure know how to make them sing. Thanks for bringing such great examples and video breakdowns, these are reference tone to strive for ! Great Job Brother.
🤩 LOVE to turn a Tweed into that sweet overdrive spot, clean it up with the guitar volume, or playing softly. Especially when there is that raw power waiting behind every note. Great guitar. Great amp. Saw your gig video with a Vox and that guitar, would love to see (hear) it live with that amp!
I’ve really enjoyed your documentation of this great amp. I am looking to find one myself but am curious if the reissues from the 90’s get close to the vintage sound? Thanks
Wondering why you use the bright channel as I always use the normal on my Victoria Bandmaster with my R0 - I presume you find the normal a bit too dull?
I sold the amp, but they're nothing alike. The twin sister would never clean up close to the level of this amp. "Better" (more modern / polished) gain on the TS, this is more raw.
@ I get the raw explanation. It’s like they make you work a little harder on the guitar, between the right hand and the controls, to get the sound but the payoff is way more expressive and alive. A lot of sounds just in the volume and tone.
Who else didn't expect a bassman to clean up that well? ✋

I love that guitar. I comment every time I see it. A 54 reissue in white/black combo is the best. Staple and P-90 pick ups is the only way to fly.
It's a shame the combo is so rare, few get to try it but it's great!

Really appreciate the kind words!
I don’t know if I’d prefer the amp or the guitar, but I guess what I am most desirous of is the chops. Great playing and great sound!
@@shanetx81 kind words, thank you sir!
Thank you for documenting the sound of this awesome amp!
@@deadrituals my pleasure!
That sounds so good! Aural Ecstasy!
The noir lighting is very appropriate! Great video!
Trying something new 🙂
Sounds absolutely amazing! The tone you got on that JM song could have fooled me into thinking it was him. Great sounds.
@@eldoradoguitars6456 ❤️ thanks Mike! Hope you're doing well
I’m not a Mayer guy but that was a cool riff. What song is that?

@@parlance.electricco because I thought it sounded good 🤷♂️ they both sound great to me, just depends on what you're going for
sounds great , but for me the strat is the holy grail tone with these amps ...
It is a much more classic combo for sure
did you go thru a brick and mortar to order your M2M, I want one...

Regular Gibson P90 in the bridge?
Yessir
is the 54 maple topped or solid mahogany like the 57?
@@npr-ws9nq 54 spec is solid mahogany
How close can you get your twin sister to this amp. I figured that JTM topography of the twin sister might get in the ball park of the tweed.

Wasn't disappointed!!

Sweet gear all around. It's hard to buy good stuff today. I'm lucky I'm older, bought my 1979 Les Paul custom for $1600 used.
@@jeffsquires6620 definitely more of a grind to get things at reasonable prices today
