- Why Are Pretty Women Insecure? The Surprising Truth Behind Beauty and Self-Esteem
Today, we’re diving into a thought-provoking topic: the insecurities that can affect women who are considered physically attractive.
DISCLAIMER: Not all pretty women are insecure, but there’s an assumption that physical beauty automatically leads to high self-esteem and confidence. From my personal experience, it’s often the opposite.
We hear a lot about pretty privilege-the benefits of being aesthetically pleasing, like better treatment or more opportunities. But what about the flip side? What happens to women who are praised for their looks so much that they begin to question their worth beyond their beauty?
In this video, I explore:
The connection between beauty and self-worth
How societal pressures, like the male gaze and "thirst trapping," contribute to insecurities
Whether behaviors like seeking approval or wearing revealing clothing stem from deeper self-esteem issues
Let’s unpack these ideas and discuss my hypothesis: YES, insecurity can manifest in these ways.

Being beautiful or "pretty" isn't an accomplishment it's DNA
Precisely. Yet, we place so much value on something that isn’t earned.
Hell it’s not even always dna it’s social norms. What society deems beautiful is typically what individuals will deem beautiful.
@@TynishaTalks Yep
Beautifully said.
I really dislike how much censorship some content creators are pressured to use these days. Thank you for sharing your perspective in a respectful but REAL manner. Please continue to do so and don’t APOLOGIZE for coming at it this way! People are way too damn sensitive these days.
Lately, I have been pondering about this term “ Girls, girl” what I’ve observed is that in todays world, you can only be a girls girl as long as you share the same opinion/mindset as the collective. If you DARE to challenge the thought, action, etc, then you’re deemed a ‘ hater’ or something else very childish/immature. It’s very odd to me because the grown women that I run with are not like that. At all.
I love that "Five Why" questions! That is a really great exercise! 🌊🌊🌊
These are the honest conversations we need to have in 2025 between black women and men.The time for retreating to our comfy social media algos is over. We either get real with one another or we're doomed.
Agreed! Be honest with others but also ourselves 🙏🏽
@@TynishaTalksYes, I have so much to say, but I digress, lol. Look forward to more content.
Boooo! 😆
@ Lol, Im not the type to popoff in the comments section, lol. I just do quick hits.
The trap of being “pretty” as a woman is that nature has its trade-offs in various forms. From what I’ve observed, once you’re deemed socially attractive, that becomes your entire identity whether you accept it or not-a burden that doesn’t weigh as heavily on those who aren’t considered conventionally attractive, as they usually find other niches to distinguish themselves.
Even if you’re highly skilled at something, as an attractive woman, your looks will eventually overshadow those abilities in many cases. To make things more complex, physical beauty inevitably fades to some degree, and what we consider beautiful is far more common than we often acknowledge.
Additionally, just because you’re universally considered “pretty” doesn’t necessarily mean you’re everyone’s preferred type of attractive. Someone may recognize your beauty but not find you personally appealing for a variety of reasons.
The best thing you can do is appreciate nature’s blessings in whatever form you’ve received them and go where you’re celebrated(in good faith)-no matter how selfish that may sound. Variety exists to sustain and diversify the species, just as it does in all other forms of life, making the concept of beauty far less complicated than we tend to believe. 😏
Thisss! I really started embracing modesty when I realized that’s when I felt the most sexy.
Good luck in school Ty💟 You just taught me something about the “Why to root cause” technique
It’s interesting, right? Like I want to sip tea with my pinky up 😂
Thank you!! It helps me practice what I’m learning lol.

Agree! Class exudes confidence and warm energy.
Great message keeping it real ❤❤❤❤😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
I can definitely relate. Hearing such comments such as "pretty", "beautiful", made me feel like that is all the value I had which had an effect on my confidence, self-esteem. Either men felt I was incompetent or women were threatened.
How did you move past this mindset?
@TynishaTalks great question. I didn't because it still currently happen.
I've dealt with women like this, beautiful as hell but very insecure and self conscious. And I never understood until I had a talk with my daughter when she was 16 and was going through a situation and I asked her why and did I contribute by not giving her affirmation. And she said it was different coming from me because I'm her dad and that's what I'm supposed to say and she just didn't feel she was what boys liked. And low behold when I asked what do they like, she shows me chicks from Instagram and tik tok. Comparison has been an issue long before there was an internet;but social media makes it worse because it's in your face 24/7. I grew up in the 90s and while you had the females that dressed a lil extra, it's nothing compared to now. You got women that come out like they fiddna work the pole damn near naked.
And before some yall come with that " that's what yall like tho", no that's what we like to play with, and hell as you get older the less you like it to even play with. I like banana pudding, but that don't mean I want to eat banana pudding everyday for my nutrition.
Interesting! What affirmations did you/do you give her?
@@TynishaTalks nothing too much I always let her know she was beautiful and smart. And I had to let her know i was proud of her to reinforce when I had to be on her ass. One thing have learned is social media definitely has a strong influence on these kids now days. Gotta monitor their usage of it, a mistake I won't make with her younger sisters
@9:25
Unfortunately, within our community (the American Black Community), we are navigating so many difficulties on a daily basis that being asked to hold ourselves accountable over how we present ourselves or taking the time to voluntarily rid ourselves of emotional baggage does appear to be "a luxury" at best, and at worst it can be assessed as "acting white".
Forgive this extended comment.
We-Black Americans-simply want to live without having to feel indebted for existing. So, for some of us who may be aesthetically pleasing, being able to strut through a day or even a weekend without feeling that "bill come due" is just that. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Great topic of discussion. Great presentation.

Oh! I love your perspective here! ❤
@fazziland3932 Thank you
I had no idea that all of the really pretty girls that I spent thousands of dollars on, were insecure🤔

1:08 I seen all the videos about them, I’m all caught up with Tonight’s Conversation 😂🤣😂🤣
I think people should adopt Confucianism. The principle of minding your own business and rectifying your OWN conduct. If we all minded our own business that would solve a lot of issues. Trying to put billions of people into a single box of intentions is lazy. A single human being has a universe of complexities to them let alone an entire so society. This is why we show love to the people that are deemed sex workers and not just the “holy” and judgmental. It’s not our place to control each other. Let people come to their own senses and decide what’s for them. Good intentions don’t make everything right. I’m not single and I’m out of my cleavage phase but that was my choice. Nobody else would’ve nor could’ve made me change that. I still have a brilliant mind (so says everyone I know) outside of whatever I put on.
Of course! Everyone has a choice and humans are not a monolith. These are experiences from my journey, which is why I emphasized that I’m not projecting my viewpoints onto everyone else. With that in mind, there are a lot of women who can relate to these sentiments, even if they don’t admit it.
My philosophy will be balance: understanding that we have the freedom to make our own decisions while also understanding the impact of our decisions. And of course, building confidence and building a foundation of self love ✨
Thank you for watching and sharing your perspective!
This was beautifully written!

Such a great video!
I used to be puzzled when the women (who were obviously FINE) did the attention seeking behavior out in public. Didn't even occur to me that they were insecure...I was like she's fine as hell why is she trying so hard?! Lol Ty(Thank you or Tynisha), you're out here sharp shooting with this content 🎯💯💪🏽
I have to disagree w the idea that how you present yourself controls how men behave, if they are gonna act a fool, they do it regardless, and I dress quite modestly and very much keep to myself, and still get approached by YNs tryna use my body. They DO NOT care, if you're beautiful they are going to see you however they wanna see you and make up their own assumptions period
If the person has decent values, it shouldn’t impact how they behave. I 100% believe it impacts how they view you, though. I’d say that’s the case for most people.
To act like how you present has no influence on how men behave is complete BS! yes some men don't care, but it's the minority. If I dress like a doctor everyday, eventually someone is going to approach me for medical attention.
@@objectivelybiased8006 It’s not natural for men to not to practice self control. Why do we have to make sure men stay in control. That’s an insult to men and women. Men marry children in this world. They will and do grape modest women and children. If men were not psychopaths then we could walk about in whatever pleases us and not be controlled by men’s behavior.
Thanks for keeping it 1,000
Always 🙏🏽
Good topic type shytt
I can’t believe she wore that denim jacket without a shirt 😮
As a man it’s the same thing over here too. I get labeled as a hoe and a d bag a lot. It isn’t until people get to know me that they tell me how I’m so different then what they thought I’d be like
Experiencing the true effects of being considered physically appealing can include constant attention being judge on primarily appearance
For sure! Sucks when you want more focus to be placed on your “substance”.
Woooweee 👀
Good video
Glad you liked it! 😄
The WHOLE 10 😬😍🥰
1:32 All I’m going to say is…never mind forget what I was going to say.

Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
A lot of very attractive women I've met carried themselves well. I have noticed their is an inherent air of entitlement and lack of self-awareness and are used to men doing what they want, whether it is subtle or obvious.
I just call it out in a logical and rational way, and if they dont self reflect, move on. The majority of the time, after i addressed the issue, they moved on , got played, and admitted I was right😂. Free entertainment
I don’t see anything wrong with looking your best. However you can tell when someone is trying too hard. I hate to keep saying this but social media and the entertainment industry has buffed all of this. I think a lot of women who are involved in social media and entertainment are in a covert competition with each other.
Btw, you ever thought about being a talk show host Ty?
I have! I used to say I want to be the next Oprah. But more ethical 😅
@@TynishaTalks Nice! That actually might happen 1 day.
