If anyone is interested in making the book project bag the fabric is from the Rifle Paper Curio collection and the sewing pattern is the Beginner Bag by Kandou Patterns. 💕
Ooh thanks, Olivia!! Still loving my bag every day 🥰
I’m not sure this is a tutorial exactly but I’d love a video comparing different sock heels. I realize you don’t want to give away the secret sauce but which heels are deepest, best for self striping, that kind of thing!
Ooh great idea!
Yes!! I'd love a deep dive on sock heel varieties!
Oh, I’d love this! I have a deep I step, and am afraid to try anything other than a heel flap and gusset that I knit extra long
Me too! I am fairly new to knitting socks and I don’t know a thing about heels. When I have tried to pick up stitches, they have looked particularly bad. Also with respect to socks, I just had to scrap one because the floats became all bunched up at the turns with magic loop. A tutorial on how to prevent this from happening in color work socks would be amazing. I tried different things with catching floats at the end and it just ended up too tight and bunching up the socks, making it unwearable.
Have you considered dumping your waste tank and refilling the water at a Camping World? It's a retail chain store throughout California and they have septic facilities there for motorhomes. I think it might even be free....at least it was when I was kid (which ::cough, cough:: was a long time time ago).
As a native Californian, don’t forget about the rest of the state! 🙂 We are a big state with a lot to offer. You’ve definitely seen Southern California, when your schedule permits, come visit Central and Northern California. ❤
That’s what we’re doing this week! And we’ll be back too after Oregon ☺️
So glad you’re enjoying my neck of the woods! You picked a beautiful time to come through Arizona 😄 FYI that saguaro is pronounced Sah-war-oh. I agree that cacti are pretty darn cool! 😉
Ohhh thank you! I totally mistook it for a “y”. Makes so much more sense 😅
Would love to see a third video, even if it is every other week for a third video. Safe travels!
Thanks for the love for my enchanting state, New Mexico!
It truly is the land of enchantment!
Thank you so much for the New Mexico plug. Kent is right. It is an underrated state.
I hope you come back to NY after van life! I loved meeting up with you in different cozy coffee shops!!!🧶☕️🧦😊
Wow! You went to my local yarn shops in Tucson! How cool!
Starlight has a knit night at their store Friday. I don't think I am going but some friends and I are thinking about meeting up at a brewery or something Friday night. I think someone else is trying to put together a meet up on Sunday.
Oh fun! I’m thinking of the Friday night one at Starlight possibly.
I’d love to see what the heel from the socks looks like on when you finish a pair. 😊 So intriguing
I just finished two Vanilla is the New Black Socks! (from different pairs 🤭) so I’ll be able to share next week!
Loved the Q&A! My ears perked up when you mentioned New York, my favorite vlogs and podcasts are from that period 🙈 But until then I'm so excited about the 3rd video and more travels 🤩
I am a New Mexican born and raised. I'm glad to hear you loved it here.
Such a cool place!
So glad Toaster is enjoying this adventure. As a New Mexican it makes me really happy you appreciate the food, culture and beauty of the state.😊
Yay! You'll love Vermont.
YAY NEW MEXICO!!!!!! We loved having you here! Also that AZ cactus is. Sa-WAR -o😊
I just ordered my Knit-tea Natty yarn! I’ve knit 6 pairs of socks this month so I’m a little burnt out on them for now 🥲 I needed something new so I casted on the Sweet shop blanket by Laura Penrose! 💕
So much fun coming on your travels with you. Lovely to see Kent on the video today! I love Toaster and glad to hear he is enjoying lots of new walks and meeting lots of dogs and new people! Take care x
Woohoo, Montana!!
Yarn stores/studios have become my favorite vids. 🧶
Just received my Knit-Tea Natty Yummy plush yarn. It is soooo beautiful! Wish I ordered more lol 🇨🇦
So much fun traveling the states with you. Enjoyed having Kent as part of the episode. The hexi blanket is gorgeous! 💕
Not sure if your a Taco Bell person but Pacifica, CA has the only Taco Bell on a beach in the US also it’s a cantina. Pacifica also has a very cute yarn shop called The Royal Bee Yarn Co. the owner is also a yarn dyer.
Your hexie blanket is just getting more and more beautiful!! I’m really regretting not getting What Happens on Bourbon so I may have to order it.
It’s sooo good!
we have a cactus in our garden that is almost taller than the house. we had to put a wooden plank along the side to reinforce it because it is so skinny, so when it is really windy it looked like it was almost going to snap. i'm eagerly awaiting your review of the strong heel after being converted to the fish lips kiss heel by your sock knitting course.
Totally agree with Kent about New Mexico. It was not what I expected and one of my favorites of 49 we’ve visited.
Your comment about ice amused me. Here in NZ most people don't have ice and wouldn't offer it. Recently we had visitors from the US and they were surprised we didn't have ice on hand.
Leslie at KnitCalifornia just did a podcast on destashing your yarn, discord, and a great site to use, and sell your yarn . I love the variety of your podcasts Natalie. Thanks for taking us all along . Hugs to Toaster 🐾 and as always, Safe Travels 🙌🏻
I about shed a tear when you talked about missing ice. I am an ice girl myself and when I visited Egypt that was the one thing I missed soooo bad. Love the idea of adding more videos within the week, it makes my day to see a new episode is ready 😊. Happy to see both of you do the questions and answer section too. What a beautiful bond you two have. ❤
Loved seeing you ( and Kent) “ in the wild” for this video!
Yay for more videos (as you have time, of course); I’m loving traveling vicariously through you and Kent now! 😘
You did well on the pronunciation of Musselburgh - you got it spot on!
I love the heel created by Anneh Fletcher!!! Fit so well
Video request...i have always been curious how yarn dyers make self-striping yarn. If you go to a shop that dyes self-striping yarn, can you please video?
Could you show a tutorial for the strong heel??? I got the pattern vanilla is the new black because I also had some self striping yarn and thought it would be super cute! And I am STRUGGLING. I even emailed the designer with a pic (who got back to me so quick!! And was so nice and helpful!!) and even she was confused because I appeared to be doing it right but I have so many holes in my heel. I also tried another sock pattern with a strong heel M1L/R and those weren’t much better. Great video as always and can’t wait to see your next!! 💜💜
If you drive the coast in Oregon, there is a LYS in Bandon, Oregon called The Wool Company. Also check out Wild Rivers Wool Factory in Langlois. Visit Cape Blanco lighthouse just north of Port Orford. It’s a state park, and the most westerly point in the lower 48. Sometimes they do tours of the keepers house.
Loving all your videos!!! 🤩
Yay! Thank you!
So glad you got to Apricot! I live in Los Angeles and stop by Apricot whenever I go to San Diego. I started the Garti Cardi when you mentioned it a few podcasts ago and I'm so glad I did! I'm really enjoying it. I saw you sent your Suburban yarn home and I support your decision. Despite not being the most complicated pattern, it definitely has some challenging aspects. Totally understand not having the mental bandwidth when you're on the road. Love following your travels!
Aww fun! Thank you for saying that. I still hope to make the Garti Cardi at some point!
Hope you get the chance to come by The Knitting Tree LA!!
Loved the q&a with you & Kent. My KnitTEAnatty yarn is due to arrive on Saturday 💕
Thank you! Wahoooo
I'm in vail...half hour south. Waving to you.
I'm glad you're excited to come to Colorado! We have 4 national parks and plenty of mountains. Are you planning to visit any yarn stores when you come to CO?
Hi Natalie. Are you planning on going to the Puget Sound LYS Tour in May? May 15 - 19 I try to go every year. 21 stores are participating this year.
Maybe I'll see you at the Rose City Yarn Crawl. (I met you last July in Nashville at SSK.)I'll be there for sure. It's only a 3 hour drive from Seattle.
Barbara
#Question I am looking for a yarn advent to buy for next christmas to make the battenburg blanket. What yarn dyers do you recommend? I love watching your podcast! :)
Nom nom
Lovely weather. ? How many miles do you have on the van?
Safe travels.
It’s been lovely! Just hit 25,000 miles today!
🤩
Hello. I am so bummed! I’ve sent many many messages saying to come to birdhouse since last year. Didn’t even get to know you were here. 😢
Oh no :( We didn’t plan it or know we were going either until that day!
Will you ever be back through Tucson?
Hello from Colorado! #travelquestion Since Kent is into D&D does he ever visit local game stores on your travels? Also a recommendation for the Morrow Point boat tour in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. If you make it to Gunnison while you're in Colorado you are welcome to stop by our table top game store Storyweaver Games that opens in just 2 weeks, especially if you need some reliable internet. 🙂
We haven’t yet but that’s a great idea!! I think we’ll go to Estes Park so we’ll definitely be through Gunnison!
@@KnittyNatty that would actually be Grandby on the other side of Rocky Mountain National Park. Gunnison is on US Highway 50, in the central mountains of Colorado. It's a good 5-6 hours southwest of Estes Park.
? Hi Natalie: love your videos!
? I have the pattern for the musselburgh hat. I’m having a problem with the spreadsheet… I can’t put my numbers in the space to customize my hat. Did you have a problem? Any suggestions? Much appreciated. I did contact the designers but they said try the knitting community. Thanks & happy knitting
Val
What is the yarn holder thing you have around you in the thumbnail?
Random query - how does Kent store/display all his Junior Ranger badges?
Not yet! Right now they’re all going into a pouch in the van, but maybe we’ll do a display once we have the space again!
Who else moved to the Q&A first and is now starting the video over? Just me!? 😅
Sa-war-o
Are you guys going to go to the Bay Area Yarn Crawl in California March 15th- 23rd? @bayareayarncrawl for information.
