  • ITS FINALLY FINISHED!, In this episode you will see it running and driving :)
    / rrcrestoration
This episode begins with a part that a lot of people were really curious to see restored and that part is the engine. The Honda C90 engine is a pretty simple little engine to reassemble and if your interested in learning about engines and how they work i would highly recommend that you buy one of these engines and disassemble and reassemble it as you will learn a lot about the basics pf how engines work from it.
Anyway The first step in the building process is to assess all the parts make sure everything is within spec and is present before building then its a case of assembling it all in the correct order and of course dont forget to use lots of build oil when building as you dont want any metal to metal contact when you first fire up the engine again.
Once built up it was time to put it back in the frame. the aperture edges were masked up to prevent any paint chipping then the engine was jacked into place and bolted up. After this was done the sprocket and chain were fitted and tensioned up to there correct sag and then the rear spindle was torqued to spec like i said i would do in the last episode ;).
Then it was simply a case of working through the bike methodically fitting all the ancillary items like, chain guards, rear pegs, lights, casings, horn, finishing the wiring etc after these jobs were complete i turned my attention to the detail items that truly make this a top class restoration, like refitting all the oem stickers in there oem places.
Then came the fun and nerve racking part, would it fire into life? Im glad to say after a few kicks it roared into life and i could get a drive on it again and did the best filming i could in the weather and lighting conditions.
So i hope you've enjoyed this series of videos as much as i have filming them for you and as usual there will be plenty more videos to come on the Really Random Channel.
    See you all again soon

Absolutely beautiful job Sir. I had this Sport 90 model in 1966. My father bought it for me as a surprise for my 16th birthday. I rode it 300 miles the first day with my friend and his 150 Dream. What a day it was for the both of us!

These videos brought back so many happy memories of my first ever motorcycle back in 1978, a rusty seized Honda C90, got it running and painted it with a brush and used to get to college... and my first feeling of independence. Crashed it so many times pulling wheelies and trying to get my knee down...

I had a C90 when i was 23. I bought it with my first job. Then I sold it to a frien when I got the chance to go study abroad. He's widow still keeps it as a memento of him. Only recently came upon your channel and love it. I know this build is not new but having just watched it I must say your attention to detail and enthusiasm shines through. This wee bike is better than new. Been watching my way through your videos. Every one with professionalism and knowledge. Also appreciate the way you film your rebuilds. must take a bit of time. Loved the bike in the dark and shining a light over it. Honda marketing could learn a thing or two from you. Well done.

I rode a Honda Sport 90 back in 1967 and later a 160 Scrambler. I loved them both and I'm sure you are having a lot of fun on yours. If you ever rebuild a 305 Super Hawk or a Scrambler, I'm a buyer. I’ve been meaning to watch this series for months. As a young teenager in the early 70s we all knew that lad who had a placky Honda that wouldn’t quite pass its MOT. In fact most of them were lucky to pass the end of the street and that’s with the fact we were pushing them on public roads...honest. I never thought it would be a motorbike I’d get nostalgic for, but you have shown me it certainly is.
A brilliant series of videos, wonderfully constructed with all the information there we need. Everything about your production has been spot on.
The restoration itself is nothing short of amazing, even new they never looked so good. And the detail you went to to is absolutely phenomenal, each individual piece was the equivalent of many people’s 'restoration' videos.
All round a job you should be very proud of, well done.

Outstanding work, a real pleasure to watch having spent so much time maintaining and repairing my own machines in years gone by. I had C50's and C70's in my time but never a C90. You just couldn't kill one if you tried, I had one C50 that I repaired (back end, usual rot). I rode it for a couple of years, gave it to my Father- in- law to get to work on and then he bought a brand new one. The old one had gone round the clock and then some and never missed a beat. It ended up as a field bike for the son of a work colleague to ride on some land they owned. It went on and on. Great little machines. Well done Sir.

Im in Malaysia too. Notice his respect for tools, attention to small things and never stupid mods that have ruined so many old Hondas in Malaysia.

lol I've noticed a couple besides the brake cable. I would have put a washer before I put the cotter pin on the pegs. But all in all. Excellent job

The washers under the split pins are there in the before photo, but missing in the finished photo. I think there maybe one missing from under the kick stand split pin too.

Others have already said all I can say about your skills and dedication. I can only agree with all of it. One suggestion - I've learned that when you put new hand grips on the handlebars, instead of a lubricant, splash the grip with plenty of rubbing alcohol. It'll slip right on, then within minutes the stuff will dry and the grip is anchored in place. Keep up the great work.

Absolutely perfect. I don't know that I would have done anything different. Maybe polished the wheel hubs, but I can live with the media blasted look. Very very nice indeed... Thumbs Up!

Watching that informative restoration of your C90 Honda Cub was as entertaining and enlightening as actually getting to ride it. Museum quality piece. Thank You so much for sharing the "Bringing-Back-to-Life" of this Fabulous and historically important example of true mechanical genius. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.

Last time I rode one of these was 2-up in the mid eighties from Paignton to Dartmoor & back 'shrooming! Brought back some memories! Especially the last shots! Beautiful!
