He was in love, but things went apart. He found new love, and he's sorry for things not going the way he wanted to. He's apologising because he got the good side of the break up, he found new love, and went on tour. While the other person in the break up is the opposite. The wind made him fell to his knees and break down. But the the most heart breaking part is, that we know about their relationship that was never publicly confirmed but we know.
Weird to think back on just a few years back when he was getting his leg waxed by Zoella in a hotel room bathtub and now he’s performing on SNL. So intensely proud of this lanky noodle boy.
the way he shakes his head when he says “but i didn’t call cause it wouldn’t be fair” and “i know how it looked, that wasn’t the plan. i hope that one day you’ll understand” GOD IT MADE ME SO SAD i’ve watched like 5 times now and i cry EVERY TIME he does that because it’s just such raw sadness.
I still remember watching Troye as a youtuber and him announcing his EP on his youtube channel to his views now he out here singing on SNL owning the stage. Well done troye!
this is such an emotional song and we all can see that this one means a lot to him and that he was on the verge of tears. he is sorry for having the good side of the break up, because he found new love quickly, while "the other boy" got the worst part of it, broke down and suffered for months and months. he is sorry because he couldn't be by his side anymore, because the songs that were made for the boy in BN helped troye get through it during the tour, but did not help the other boy. This song is just so meaningful. a relationship that was never confirmed but that was so important for both of them that ended badly and troye still caring about "the other boy", for the pain that he caused him, because he's been such a big part of his life and it's impossible to stop caring for someone like that. i really hope that they get to "meet in the spring" and I hope that troye gets to say to _him_ that he is proud of him
I can't imagine how Connor is feeling...Troye is everywhere now. I'm sure he's proud that he has made it this far...he had helped him through his hopes and dreams I'm sure but can't help but be hurting u know well (we don't exactly know)...to know that the song is about him and he's singing it live to MANY people is insane.
I got here by accident, but have to say; this guy is a real artist! Everything fits, and his "my my my!" performance gave me real prince and lorde vibes, and i must say; IT TOTALLY WORKS! it's one of those things you didn't know you needed but totally do!
beautiful performance. every time he sings 'and baby I apologize' its so sincere. one time he looks directly into the camera saying it and ouch wow my heart. also this 3:11. you can tell he's directly talking to him. not sure how I would feel if I were Connor I hope he's okay lol. cause I for sure would fall right back in love again after this. gorgeous.
Im a small youtuber and I don't care about the money but getting videos monetized is like this feeling where you can finally make money off of what you love even if it's a dollar it just motivates and inspires me that what if one day I can make a living out of what I'm passionate about and I get to sing and write songs all my life instead of being a doctor or an engineer just like my parents are pressuring me to. I hit 10,000 views 3 months ago and youtube said my channel was still under review and they'll tell me in a week and it stayed that way for 3 months and now youtube says i need 4,000 hours FOUR THOUSAND HOURS i make 4-5 min videos How many videos should that be. This is so frustrating when i found out i felt like crying because it puts into perspective how small i am and how not good enough I may be and it's so sad. It slightly demotivates me and makes me think twice about my life-long held dreams. I don't know why youtube is becoming this sad place
At first I really wasn't sure how I felt about this song, but after seeing the visuals and just seeing his performance really helps me to connect with the song. His emotions are shown so clearly here and it really made the song great for me.

i swear im that moment i stopped hating Winston.(dont judge me tho cuz i know winston is on the right side trying to clean monty's name but im so hell bent hating on monty that i didn't even care that he was framed.)
This guy needs to put on a beard and a jacket and he will rock. In this SNL performance he practically just has a undergarment sort of clothing, so he looks nervous even though he is not. Humans are visual creatures that's why looks and perception matter to us so much.
So, here I am at 50 yrs of age, hating almost all music released today. This guy's got something. This song is amazing. Got to give it up for those that deserve it.
I know this is something that gets said, but there is a lot of great music still out there. A lot. It never stopped, and I don't think it would make sense for that legacy to have suddenly ended. It's just the digging that gets more exhausting with each year you get older. There's so much to sift through now, and the balance makes it easy to overlook still-abundant creativity. You wont find what you're looking for in most of the charts. As in 98% of them, probably. The commercialisation of the music industry has fundamentally changed. It really is easier to navigate music released before a certain period of time. The way music was disseminated in the past was different, as were the charts and what governed them. And certainly, in terms of rediscovering classics, eventually something is established as worth listening to, making it easier to find and appreciate. I'd also argue that sequential generations sing their lives; that pop music has always been a cultural record. That can be a barrier to cross-generational appeal, but who can fail to understand the grief and guilt and mixed emotions that come with leaving/losing someone you've loved. Some experiences are so universal that we find our very thoughts in a book from another continent written 600 or even 2000 years ago. I can't tell anybody to put in the uphill battle to discover that so much musical creativity still exists (and with so much to say about a world that feels just as challenging to live in these past few decades). It's time and effort and frustration, and that's not how we like to receive music as consumers in general. Music is, after all, usually a form of pleasure. But trying sometimes is worth it, because there's something so immense and good for the soul about connecting with art. It helps to discover something new every once in a while at, because it helps us to grow in a different way than the act of revisiting art. And Troye is a very talented pop artist. I'm younger than you, but I'm older than the majority of Troye's fanbase, and I think I wrote this as a manifesto for myself as much as anything.
I’m 67 & share his opinion. I remember seeing Troye on UA-cam when he was .?13-14? & his talent was evident then. I saw his performance on SNL when it was broadcast, & was so happy to see that he had matured into a splendid performer. His first song (My, my, my?) showed great energy & stage presence, but this one surprised me with the emotional depth for such a young man. I wish him great success in life & in music.

"the people danced to the sound of your heart, the world sang along to it falling apart" THAT. THAT is the most heartbreaking part of this song. can you imagine when *he* hears this? this whole song is an apology. its heartbreaking. i love it
The saddest part of this for me is that when they were dating I genuinely thought they were endgame and were gonna stay together forever and I’ve never been able to completely let go of that
Am I the only one who sees the sadness in his eyes? Like the attitude of this performance is soo different from My my my! performance....I agree both songs are different, but the way Troye feels in this song, makes me cry. P.s maybe I'm the only Tronnor shipper here
[Verse 1] I got the good side of things Left you with both of the rings My fingers danced and swayed in the breeze The change in the wind took you down to your knees I got the good side of you Send it out into the blue The people danced to the sound of your heart The world sang along to it falling apart [Chorus] But I sympathize, and I recognize And baby, I apologize That I got the good side The good side of things [Verse 2] I got the good side of life Travelled the universe twice So many thoughts I wanted to share But I didn't call because it wouldn't be fair Then I got the good side of new Found arms to fall right into I know how it looked, it wasn't the plan And some day I hope that you'll understand [Chorus] That I sympathize, and I recognize And baby, I apologize That I got the good side The good side of things [Bridge] I'm sure we'll meet in the spring And catch up on everything I'll say I'm proud of all that you've done You taught me the ropes, and you taught me to love [Chorus] But I sympathize, and I recognize And baby, I apologize That I got the good side The good side of things Sympathize, recognize Apologize That I got the good side The good side of things
It’s been 15 minutes and I’m still crying imagining Connor watching this alone at his house and crying and just wishing all never happened and oh god I’m so good at hurting myself
Yooo It was so sincere and personal and deep and omg Crying. HTF he didn't cry I don't know????!!!! When he placed his hand on his neck ,omggg Troye is amazing and it's so saddddd I'm ded.
i feel so uncontrollably emotional hearing troye perform this song. it breaks my heart everytime because the song reminds me of connors hurt as he wrote about the breakup in his book. im crying now
VERIFIED LYRICS: [Verse 1] I got the good side of things Left you with both of the rings My fingers danced and swayed in the breeze The change in the wind took you down to your knees I got the good side of you Send it out into the blue The people danced to the sound of your heart The world sang along to it falling apart [Chorus] But I sympathize, and I recognize And baby, I apologize That I got the good side The good side of things [Verse 2] I got the good side of life Travelled the universe twice So many thoughts I wanted to share But I didn't call because it wouldn't be fair Then I got the good side of new Found arms to fall right into I know how it looked, it wasn't the plan And some day I hope that you'll understand [Chorus] That I sympathize, and I recognize And baby, I apologize That I got the good side The good side of things [Bridge] I'm sure we'll meet in the spring And catch up on everything I'll say I'm proud of all that you've done You taught me the ropes, and you taught me to love [Chorus] But I sympathize, and I recognize And baby, I apologize That I got the good side The good side of things Sympathize, recognize Apologize That I got the good side The good side of things
MEANING OF THE LYRICS: In an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1Troye stated: “This song’s a little rough. It’s basically about a breakup that I went through a while ago. You know, in a breakup, I think just the sheer nature of it, is that someone is going to get it rough. And I happened to be on the good side of things - I got to go on tour, I got to go and see the world, I had this very therapeutic experience of singing songs about that breakup and watching people sing them back to me, and I met someone new fairly soon afterwards. It’s sort of a letter to that person to express apologies and sympathy and if I could change this at all, I would’ve. So I’m hoping that this song, a couple years down the line, is going to serve as a cathartic experience for the both of us to be like, ‘look, this is the way that things happened and whenever we’re ready to move on, let’s do that.’” (PS: He's so talking about Connor Franta)
SiriusFredTonks Eu falei isso, mas não sabia se você tava me zuando ou pedindo pra eu colocar "COME TO BRAZIL" de verdade no meu comentário, sorry about that!.
He held back tears, so sincere “baby, I apologise”. Love is sometimes just not enough, break up to pursue an opportunity, to move on. Troye didn’t break up because of new love “it was not part of the plan, I hope you will understand”. This song is so so deep 😢😢❤❤
When I first heard this on SNL I balled like a baby. It what you want to hear from your ex after a break up, just for closure. Such a touching a heartfelt song. Always make me cry when I listen to it.
I wonder if Troye read Connor's book are realized how badly Connor was affected. I also hope that Connor heard this song and realized that Troye is really sorry for whatever happened between them.
I'm crying. Literally. at 2:11, I saw tears on his right eye. Also at 3:16. And the last part. You can see the emotion, you can really feel it. Oh, Troye. :'(

"i am broken after being broken up with" "i hope you know i still admire you, i hope you know i still desire you" - connor franta
thebocaqueen oh my god no stop right there
WHY
my fragile heart
my heart :'(
Connor said this?
3 years later and this is still one of the best performances by a modern day pop star. So well done. 🌈
troye: did that
[Verse 1]
I got the good side of things
Left you with both of the rings
My fingers danced and swayed in the breeze
The change in the wind took you down to your knees
I got the good side of you
Send it out into the blue
The people danced to the sound of your heart
The world sang along to it falling apart
[Chorus]
But I sympathize, and I recognize
And baby, I apologize
That I got the good side
The good side of things
[Verse 2]
I got the good side of life
Travelled the universe twice
So many thoughts I wanted to share
But I didn't call because it wouldn't be fair
Then I got the good side of new
Found arms to fall right into
I know how it looked, it wasn't the plan
And some day I hope that you'll understand
[Chorus]
That I sympathize, and I recognize
And baby, I apologize
That I got the good side
The good side of things
[Bridge]
I'm sure we'll meet in the spring
And catch up on everything
I'll say I'm proud of all that you've done
You taught me the ropes, and you taught me to love
[Chorus]
But I sympathize, and I recognize
And baby, I apologize
That I got the good side
The good side of things
Sympathize, recognize
Apologize
That I got the good side
The good side of things
Thanks ❤️

MEANING OF THE LYRICS:
In an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1Troye stated:
“This song’s a little rough. So I’m hoping that this song, a couple years down the line, is going to serve as a cathartic experience for the both of us to be like, ‘look, this is the way that things happened and whenever we’re ready to move on, let’s do that.’”
(PS: He's so talking about Connor Franta)
He’s so much in love! It’s just so pure!!

kay angelica
Lol. Why?
He held back tears, so sincere “baby, I apologise”. Love is sometimes just not enough, break up to pursue an opportunity, to move on. Troye didn’t break up because of new love “it was not part of the plan, I hope you will understand”. This song is so so deep 😢😢❤❤
I'm a proud mom every time Troye uploads ❤ He has come so far ❤
I agree our son has come so far. Makes me cry. ❤️❤️
Bianca Di Angelo on the TØP I can relate (love ur profile pic!)
I'm not crying, you are
its.me.bonnieee you’re right
i love you more than i love myself
When I first heard this on SNL I balled like a baby. It what you want to hear from your ex after a break up, just for closure. Such a touching a heartfelt song. Always make me cry when I listen to it.
Jayse Leong same tho
Troye ❤ NOODLE
WE STAN A LEGEND
I love this song so much... And you can just tell this means so much to him, that he feels every word
Hearing the song over and over again, tearing right now, deeply moved by his voice and the lyrics of the song
Oh, Troye. :'(
troye is here serving looks and putting out amazing music and making my 2018 amazing, bless
