Milunka Savić was awarded (per Wikipedia): The French Légion d’Honneur (Legion of Honour) (twice), the Russian Cross of St. George, the British medal of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael, and the Serbian Miloš Obilić medal. She was the sole female recipient of the French Croix de Guerre 1914-1918 with the gold palm attribute for service in World War I.
There's nothing like being taught about your own history by a band of cool looking, hardcore Vikings, lol. And the craziest part is that they did their research, and everything is so unbelievable, and historically accurate. From the story itself, to the names of places (wich are not easy to pronounce for a non-native Serbian speaking people.) So my respect for that part. There are actually a lot of female Soldiers all around the world, not just nurses or medical personal, but acutal combat soldiers! But for some reasons, they have no lobby, hardly a recognition in the News....I was serving with female comrades, and for us, it was no difference. We were a team, to do a job. But in the end, only the men are in the news, which sucks. Sent by a Male
Yeah, Octave change is great. 1st, your energy & excitement for this (banger) is great. 2nd, We (Americans) do need to talk more abt WW1. I may take heat...Yes, US entered the war late (No denying). But (after Russia got out), Allies cldn't hv done what they were doing on Western Front & wht over 1 million American Doughboys were at same time. UK, France, Canada, ANZACS, India, S. Africa, Serbs, etc. ALL great troops who'd gone far & above what shld be expected of any Soldiers, but they were exhausted. USA does hv heroes in WW1. Hindenburg Line cldn't hv bn broken w/o bad a** Doughboys. Pls react to (Sabaton): The Lost Battalion, 82nd All the Way, Devil Dogs & Hellfighters. Sabaton has done more for USA in WW1 than any teacher I know.
It it easy to test how good she was with hand grenades. Put a bottle on the ground and brake it with stone from 40 meters, stone weight should be 500grams like grenades were in ww1. Once on frontlines french general visited famous Iron regiment and while talking he asked who is their best bomber and they said Milunka. He couldnt believe and told her if she can hit one bottle of french cognac 40m away he will give her the rest of the case. She did it easily.
The lyrics of the chorus confuse me - "Soldier with no will to kill, with a philanthropic heart" - that just doesn't seem a good description? Seems to me she was quite willing to do what was necessary; and even if it was true she felt that way, it doesn't define her. Apart from that, though, great song and video!
In my Eyes there is a diffence between the women empowerment thing (without getting into the politics etc. but you know what I mean), and giving a War Hero the recognition, respect she obviously deserve specially during that time.
