(side note) that drummer dude is the husband of Nigtwish lead singer Floor Jansen., taller that she is! They now have two kids groving up - perhaps they come classical singers or smthing...🤔😁
If you go back far enough (1999-2005) you will find Sabaton before they adopted their history themed music (Joakim even has hair!). The song Primo Victoria from their second album (which was actually released BEFORE their first album - Metalizer - due to issues with the label) began their history themes. Joakim and Par were both history buffs and felt the history theme made writing lyrics easier and more fun. You should check out some of their tour vlogs from their channel if you want to see just how crazy they can get.
17:25 Since Rommel came from the west instead of the east, they thought that the front has already collapsed, the country is occupied and they have been left forgotten. And when the German officer seemed pretty confident about ordering them to stand down, they figured "well, the war is probably already over". Even though the reality was that there were only about 50 tanks, trucks and motorcycles (less than 1000 dudes) that have broken through the whole French defense line.
It’s crazy to imagine what life was like before the internet, or even before reliable radio contact. The only information you can know is what you can see and hear with your own senses. When you see enemies rushing from the direction of your home, you have no way of knowing the truth. In those soldiers minds the war was lost, maybe their families back in Paris were dead, their whole world might’ve come crumbling down.
My first Sabaton concert was at Sweden Rock Festival 2005. Back then they didn't ware the cammo outfit, Joakim still had a lot of hair. But the next time i saw them (a year or so later) they hade put the camouflage pants on. I tried to upload a pic from back then but couldn't find away in the comments.
Mic stands are soldiers memorials - A rifle with bayonet in ground and helmet on butt with dog-tags hanging from trigger guard is how you used tp mark temporary graves
Aiming with the tank's cannon while moving on uneven terrain in the night. Dunno if they even had night vision in the tanks back then... yeah, not surprised the French got caught off guard by that. :o
I like your reaction to Sabaton History! Number one is about the Battle of Wizna - song 40:1 about the Polish resistance in September 1939. In some countries they write in schoolbooks that Poland was weak and lost quickly - it's not what the reality was. We fought strong but due to many historical events we were not well equipped and the lack of ammunition forced soldiers to surrender, 40:1 is a great song about the Polish war history - unexpectedly performed by the Swedish powermetal band which was immediately loved and respected by Poles :-) Thank you Sabaton!
Listening a live version of a song is same as watching a movie that someone recorded by phone in movie theater. Live concert like movie in theater, its only good when you are there.
The problem with today's society is everybody so goddamn thin skined. You can not fucking pick and choose what you want to remember in history is not like that history is not meant to be sugar coated history's meant to be remembered so that hopefully we don't forget and we don't make the same mistakes that we've made in the past. For good or for bad history needs to be remembered irregardless of whether you agree with it or not. That's better Damm auto correct and voice to text.
The interesting thing with the river meus it was a major strategic crossing location but also a somewhat symbolic one. Back in 1914 the first major operation between British forces and German was at this river and the question has been asked by historians about how much was this a strategic goal and a symbolic one in Rommel's mind
Nice reaction! A slight correction: The "division" in the title refers to the military unit of the same name. According to Wikipedia "A division is a large military unit or formation, usually consisting of between 10,000 to 25,000 soldiers. In most armies, a division is composed of several regiments or brigades; in turn, several divisions typically make up a corps."
Great reaction greetings from the Reich Mecklenburg Germany ;-) 🖤❤️💛 Fun fact: The Germans never had slavery or slave markets. What the British and French achieved in 100 years with enormous slavery, Germans did in 40 years with hard work. Yes the Germans had colonies but unlike the British and French the Germans invested in these colonies because they were a base to protect our trade. Which was absolutely unthinkable at the time as everyone else in Africa was just letting hell loose. You can also look at the comparison between the British Empire and the German Empire in terms of economy. We were almost on par with the British even though we didn't even had nearly as many colonies. In addition, the British colonies contributed much more to their economy than Great Britain itself. For us it was exactly the opposite... Germany contributed 70% of the economy. The German Empire was truly an absolute high. From 1871 to 1923, the Germans were also responsible for *90* percent of ALL scientific and medical advances in the world with incredible inventions like the car, motorcycle, camera, etc. Before the British started World War I because they were jealous of us, it was actually the best 40 years ever here in Germany. Of course, based on today's technology, less so, but for the time... Absolutely unbelievable. At this time the first health insurance company was even introduced here in Germany by Otto von Bismarck. They still don't exist in the US today. Furthermore, German workers under Wilhelm II were the best paid workers in Europe. Some German inventions: - Light bulbs (Heinrich Göbel 1854) - The Telephone (Johann Philip Reis 1859) - Dynamoelectric principle, tram, busbar, founder of modern electronics (Werner von Siemens 1866) - The 35mm camera (Oskar Barnack 1925) - Nuclear fission and atomic bomb (Otto Hahn - emigrated to the Americans during National Socialism - 1938) - The chip card or microprocessor card (Jürgen Dethloff and Helmut Gröttrub 1969) - Periodic Table (Julius Luther Meyer 1864) - Jeans (Levi Strauss 1873) - The record player, record - (Emil Berliner 1887) - Aspirin - which all great athletes use to relieve pain and which saved countless lives (Felix Hoffmann 1879) - Spark plug (Robert Bosch 1902) - Thermos flask (Reinhold Burger 1903) - the toothpaste (Ottomar Heinsius von Mayenburg) - The coffee filter (Melitta Bentz) - Cassette recorder (Fritz Pfleumer 1928) - Tea bags (Adolf Rambold 1929) - The jet engines, jet propulsion, first war rockets V1, V2 of the Nazis (Hans von Ohain 1929) - First Rocket General (Hans von Ohain) - The Helicopter (Heinrich Focke 1936) - The first car (Carl Benz - With Honorary Schnauzer - 1886) - First computer (Konrad Zuse 1941) - Fanta (Yes Fanta during Nazi era, Wolfgang Schetelig 1940) - The typewriter (Peter Mitterhofer - 1869) - NASA (actually the US bought thousands of German engineers to build NASA because they can't do it themselves) - The first printing press (which was probably the best invention of all time because now people could start printing books, Johannes Gutenberg - 1440) - Motorcycle (Gottlieb Daimler 1885) - Birth control pill (Schering AG 1961) - the trigger of the gold rush (Johann August Sutter was Swiss, but actually German since he was born in Germany, but Swiss and German are one blood anyway, who started the gold rush in America. Not an inventor, but cool fact - 1848) - Diesel engine (Rudolf Diesel 1897) - Adidas (Adolf Dassler 1949) - Puma (Rudolf Dassler 1948) Germany, the land of poets and thinkers. that's what they called it. Not anymore
Germans may have discovered fission, but I can’t say that they invented the atomic bomb. America surpassed them, with the help of a few German scientists. I’m also curious why you say America doesn’t have insurance companies, because oh boy do we. They may suck compared to the rest of the developed world, but we have them. The rest of what you said seems accurate, Germans were so prevalent in America as scientists that now most scientist characters will have a German accent, or at least Eastern European of some kind. Einstein’s likely the smartest person to ever live, few people know just how far beyond everyone else he was. Afterthoughts in his equations prove to align with new discoveries a century later.
When it is a live version you can watch the history version first. When you watch an official music video or a animated story video you can watch the history after. Those videos gives you what it is about but the live is harder. Just a suggestion

From his diary I’d say it’s at least partially symbolic

Dragonforce? YES😀!
Through the Fire And Flames is the ideal starting point for Dragonforce and highly recommended.
