Tell that to every bad day that's been utterly annihilated by a single listen-through of Ki. Not only is Dev producing music more prolifically than we've ever seen, but it's consistently new, interesting and unique. Since it's all vastly different, yeah, there's gonna be some stuff that some folks aren't into. But it's fucking gold if you ask me.
Whenever Devin comes up with something new, I have this (perhaps irrational) fear that he's going to run out of ideas or just fail to meet the high expectations. But every time he manages to amaze me. Brilliant tags, by the way (as always).
(in response to the description) dev you don't have to justify your genius to your laymen fans...we're blessed to have you as a music maker that makes our lives better. Honestly id be very happy if you had a "sellout" album so that even more laymen-like laymen could hear your music. No one deserves to give you shit for what you do and keep doing it!
DEAR MOTHER OF GOD!!! KINGDOM?!?!?! I've waited for you guys to re-record it since I heard it live at Tuska 2010! Love you guys! can't wait for Epicloud..
This preview sounds beautiful Dev, I can't wait for this record. Keep on doing what feels closest to you, they make the best and most honest sounding records!
Devin, take heart in the fact that there are some people out here that love everything you do before we even hear it. It sounds incredible, I can't wait
I cannot wait to hear this record. All your songs are catchy, Dev, but to write a full blown epic pop album, excites me a lot. The demos sort of sound like some crazy lovechild of Accelerated Evolution and Infinity.
My god, you never stop to amaze us Devin! I hear a little Ocean Machine, wall of sounds, and of course Anneke! This is going to be another goosebumps-all-over album, i can't wait :D
Unbelievable! I have a really good feeling about this one. Thank you Dev for working so hard these last few years... I remember talking to you in Baltimore about the upcoming By A Thread shows and you were working round the clock... the DVDs turned out amazingly!
Pretty proud to say this was recorded in my hometown. I photographed you guys at Soundwave in Perth this year as well :) So keen for the album Dev! Much love from Perth :)
Other Eyes Wise - Jo is gonna buy Epicloud as soon as it hits Europe! It's sound very promising from the few samples I've heard, and Devin deserves any credit to his soul and wallet that I can think of - you legend!
woha, I'm also very ecxited about Kindom. Such a great Song, but you now what? I'm ecxited as hell about the whole record. ..actually I'm every time when this genius bring's out a new record :) Dev is just such a nice, cool, chill guy. Really, really like him :)
Oh my gosh, I want to listen all of these songs now! every little snippet we get is so much of a tease, it is astounding. Especially the little part at 5:16 , I want to hear more of that. But I don't see how anyone could see this as a sellout, It is sounding as awesome (and complex, but that is not the point) as ever. Stop worrying Devin!
So glad to finally be able to watch this now! Was holding off until after the album came out. Really glad I did; this is a tremendous behind the scenes video. Great job by all!!
Dev, you'll never be a "sell out" purely because a guy like you with constantly changing ideas and that whole malarkey can get away with more commercial music without sounding lame.
Your way too concerned man, I guess it is literally impossible for you to not sound Devy. Its yet again from the small tid bids a nother great record from a humble and to me very soothing person Thumbs up for the Dev and his eternal well of creativity
This is maybe the album I was waiting for since Terria and Ocean Machine, that has that specific Devy sound I felt in love for, plus has that epic sound of Infinity at 2:30 .
There's not one artist who's every song or record I personally enjoy. For Dev, it's ZTO and Deco. In a way this "musical theatre" side is a bit overblown, for my taste of course. I'm also glad that many people like it. If I want chaos SYL works better for me, i enjoy rest of DTP, OM, AE. Addicted being my favourite, it's that Dev/AvG combo, which makes it stick out from all of those other fantastic records for me. And it's also that special record that really got me hooked to Devin's music.
Yes. "On the topic of his decision to re-record "Kingdom", a song from his PHYSICIST album, which came out in 2000 on Townsend's label, HevyDevy Records, Devin said, "We re-did 'Kingdom' because it's a live set staple, and so much better now than the PHYSICIST recording."
God Devin is amazing...unlike other bands who try to release albums that quick and end up recycling the same stuff over and over. He might be the only musician who can release an album every year or two and have each be another glorious gift to us mere mortals.
2:30 is a freaking supernova explosion. chord ring, followed by a really short *WHAM* and there it is, super-white light in the blackness of space. Mindblowing.
Dev, I would never think of you as a sell-out! The difference between you and true sell-outs is intention. You just write whatever there is in your head and roll with it. It's not like some corporate comittee forced you to make a more catchy album, now is it? Random is like random does, right? :)
hmmm obviously i can't make out much from this. the song samples have too much of a rough mix to truly comprehend and make a proper judgement on them. I guess we'll just have to wait until September to see if this really is another HevyDevy masterpiece. Also as for the drumming well that isn't any concern for the amazing Ryan Van Poederooyen.

Im really looking forward to this album and this has just made me more excited
Devin, take heart in the fact that there are some people out here that love everything you do before we even hear it. It sounds incredible, I can't wait
I'm almost glad I didn't see this video before Epicloud's release so I could hear Grace in its finished state on my first listen
my god devin this has to be some of the best sounding un mixed/mastered stuff i'v heard i cant wait for this album.
holy shit! it is going to be perfect as always. What a creativity Devin has! I appreciate his existence.
Just got chills watching this. Absolutely cannot wait for this release. Sounds like really strong work, maybe some of your most passionate yet, Dev!
I wish you all the success possible. You've worked very hard for 20 years at this and your songwriting just keeps improving.
I cannot wait to hear this record. All your songs are catchy, Dev, but to write a full blown epic pop album, excites me a lot.

I had a mental representation of what this album was gonna sound like..but as usual Dev blows me out of the water, can't wait!
Other Eyes Wise - Jo is gonna buy Epicloud as soon as it hits Europe! It's sound very promising from the few samples I've heard, and Devin deserves any credit to his soul and wallet that I can think of - you legend!

Dev, you never cease to amaze. always love the update vids, thanks for all you do.
Lol, was NOT expecting to see Dev playing around with a buzuki! New album will be just awesome! Can't wait!!!
Thanks for the upload Devy and crew. There's some beautiful vintage gear in that studio!
This is gonna be his catchiest album to date! I'm anxious to hear Kingdom all redone.
Well Dev, from the very brief glance here.. I am more excited than before.. and I have really, really been looking forward to this one bro.
I'm anxious to hear Epicloud. I'm curious to see how many songs will be played during the tour.
B.

Absolutely loving the melodic Meshuggah-y ear-flooding sound at 2:30!
Looking forward to hearing the finished product. Always a pleasure.
We want more!!! Keep the flow Devin! Great show in Porto/Portugal by the way!!!
From what I'm hearing already...I'm in love with this album. HOW??
Already the snippets of the album sound so inspiring!
Dev, you'll never be a "sell out" purely because a guy like you with constantly changing ideas and that whole malarkey can get away with more commercial music without sounding lame.
this will literary be an Epic album and im loving the mandolin jam at the end \m/
Need more of that last riff. NEED MORE!
The New version of Kingdom sounds beautiful... I'm excite.
Grace is such a great and powerful song!
Already from this I can tell that this will be one of your best, but better than Ziltoid and Deconstruction? I will have to see :D
Your way too concerned man, I guess it is literally impossible for you to not sound Devy. Its yet again from the small tid bids a nother great record from a humble and to me very soothing person Thumbs up for the Dev and his eternal well of creativity

Apparently,"Lucky Animals" is slated to be the first single. It probably is the song in the middle section.
Never sit still, keep going forward. continue to create, and always do what you do.
Woo! I fucking love Kingdom, glad to see it's getting a studio album makeover. Can't wait for this record!
Nice to hear from you again, D!
i can't wait to hear the new version of kingdom. my favorite dt song
There's not one artist who's every song or record I personally enjoy. For Dev, it's ZTO and Deco. In a way this "musical theatre" side is a bit overblown, for my taste of course. I'm also glad that many people like it.

Kingdom! I think I just exploded into happiness beyond my wildest expectations.
This is going to be incredible!
OMG devin!!!! (and crew) hope you guys enjoyed the perth weather =]
This is the album I've been wishing for
Album is gonna be Huge!!
Best possible description!
Epic guitar Dev!!! can't wait for epicloud!! :D

I'm so fucking pumped for this album.
Can't wait for the moment I open up my mailbox and find this album in it.
Devin i love you man, every record you make is perfect.
That Canada tattoo is astounding!
Man, those samples of the actual music you get to hear sound fucking amazing.
I've been waiting MONTHS for this!!! Holy shit did this make my day!!! EPIC!
I would have payed some serious money to spend a whole week with these guys :)
Can't wait for my ears to devour the sonic planet juice that the galactic symphony of EPICLOUD shall deliver.
Sounds friggin`fantastic! Bring it home Dev! ;D
I just got EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT THIS ALBUM
I was definitely not expecting it to sound this heavy. :O
They just sound so damn awesome, and they look badass too. And, y'know, not that expensive either....Tempting...;)
Well, I think pretty much anything you do is awesome, so keep at it and we'll be good little consumers!
Because Perth was the last stop of the Soundwave tour earlier this year, and I presume they wanted to smash out drums as soon as they could.
Epic, and loud. Hurry up and finish my next favourite album please guys!
I just can't wait to have it!!
Yeah :)
In DTP tuska 2011 video there's a tag "bug-eyed-over-emoting". Dev is the man. :)
I dont know why u explain so much in the comments.... Sounds really good :)
one can assume custome seeing as the dsp logo is on the fret board
Rob Swire as in Pendulum/Knife Party Rob Swire, bloody hell this is going to get interesting real fast!
Yes.

He's a true artist. vs a dumb dumb who's only into dope, girls, and fame.
@tadigibrasan I think from what he's said on Twitter and such, I think it's supposed to be kinda both?
i have a real good feeling about this!
Don't get too excited... Don't get too excited.... Don't get too excited...Too late, mind blown!
Dev is like the Stephen Hawking of music.
Can not wait for this album! :)
Yay for HevyDevy!!!! I will buy this!
OMG i live in perth so glad to see golden god here
2:40 the pound-pound-pound part from By Your Command + Zen?
Freaking EXCITED for this, Devy!
Never stop making music, Devin.
i want to see anneke recording!!
damn it's been 3 months since this was uploaded i want to see more footage specifically Anneke recording her vocal parts.
2:30 is a freaking supernova explosion. chord ring, followed by a really short *WHAM* and there it is, super-white light in the blackness of space. Mindblowing.
this is hella good! can't wait!

It's Grace from Devin Townsend's Epicloud!
This sounds a LOT darker and heavier than I expected.
1:24 The search across the universe is now complete!
I like how "Turner and hooch full movie" is a related video.
Awesome! Moremoremore!
2:32 Amazing sound !!!!!!
Heywood Floyd: "What? What's going to happen?"
Dave Bowman: "Something wonderful."
Loving what I'm hearing, btw. : D
Holy shit this is gonna be a masterpiece!
a "Kingdom" remake? awwww yeah!
hmmm obviously i can't make out much from this. the song samples have too much of a rough mix to truly comprehend and make a proper judgement on them.
