Most of the projects I do myself, but I'm always happy when I can get help from a friend.
xbox was a long time ago indeed. My grandfather had one when he was a kid.
Ben, You are one hell of a freestyle engineer. Great host abilities as well. I look forward to your future projects.
that mod, looks pretty sweet, not to mention true to the 2600's look and feel, I hope the client was happy with this!
I really wish you'd show the final product more and in better detail.
I always think this!
This is the coolest one of your projects I've seen so far. Excellent craftsmanship and design work. I bet Atari was happy to have that to show off.
this guy is an electronical artist. his projects are a work of art, and inspiring
You sir have earned yourself yet another subscription.
Thanks for watching!
The Ben Heck Show I feel like I've watched all videos now. And now I finally subscribe. I don't know much about electronics, but this helps :D
This show made me stay up all night and morning, could not stop watching. Now i want to go back to the University i stopped cuz of lazyness. Thanks Ben!
Nice PCB design work on the pinball motherboard! Very cool!
Great job Ben!
1977 Xbox I wish it was around in 83 it would on been fun to have lol...
Atari Games were fun & NES Games also my favorite time of Gaming...
And now I realize that 2011 was almost 6 years ago. And I weep.
My first mod, or what ever you could call it is going to be using an old duo-touch tablet computer, mounted in a nice wooden case using an old stereo left over from the 80's for an amp, and mounting the speakers out of the speaker cases inside a tallish case and using a jukebox program freely available on the web to make a jukebox for my back room. Perhaps the same thing could be done with a raspberry pi computer and a touch screen of some sort, not sure. I do woodwork, and back in the day I used to repair televisions, well the type with tubes as a part time deal when in the Army. So my background is more cobble then hack but I think it should make a nice one, and with the bright LED's I am going to try and make something like I used to listen to back in the 60's when I was a kid.
Man you are a genius. Such awesome projects
When I saw the final product all I could think/say is "That's SOOO cool!!"
So frickin cool!!!! DO THIS AGAIN!!!
You were freaking me the hell out with your finger at 17:45. Was just waiting for that thing to hop over and shave your finger off.
This.. is just the one for me
Ah 2011 Ben, so young, so innocent.
I'd make one of these, I'll just equip myself with a massive barn, an industrial CNC router, access to the raw materials, the components... perhaps not.
This is a great build. I know you said in a previous comment, that your builds are not for sale, bummer because I would so buy one
hey ben, my names ethan barton and i love your show! i was thingking the other day that you should make a gaming cockpit, every kid wants to be able to drive and your such a great games moder that mabe you could do it. if you did you should use 3 lcd monitors to create the best simulation possible. thanks ben for making such a great show,
ethan barton.
That's a work of art.
Beautiful...
That came out really good.
Ben heck you just gave me a catch phrase. When I try and say something and it doesn't sound how I planned, or my mouth decides not to work, I'm going to say to "I'm releasing a patch in the future" that us priceless lol
That is lovely. 1977 is the year I was born.
you amaze me every time!
That was awesome, Ben!!!
dude i freaking love all your inventions man! GREAT JOB! it's weeks away from christams so merry christmas and i think it would be cool for a xbox laptop for me for a gift ;D
I like Ben's obsession with ribbon cables
so cool. favorite UA-cam show
My only thing is that I would have rather you painted the LCD control buttons that orange/red color that the Fire button was on the Atari 2600 joystick. Other than that great job!
Dude this is sooo sick I want one!
4:30 so thats why my drive makes a loud noise when I put stuff on top of the console, now I know and knowing is half the battle :D
man if i had these skills i wood live in a 1 room apartment that was decked out with all these sick electronics.
7:40 really smart to point at you papers with a soldering iron
you do a great job on everything you do. You should build your own Gaming console in laptop form and mass produce it. I'd buy one these things are amazing.
The jokes in this episode were amazing "We'll just release a patch later on" that had me rolling :) Keep up the good work.
i want this so badly
I think removable media will probably stay for the near future, but I can see something like an external hard drive bay instead of a CD drive, with a SATA 3 connection and 2.5" SSDs storing games. Flash memory is dropping fast. SSDs were, not too long ago, 200-250$ for a 128 GB drive, where as now you can get them for about $1 = 1 GB. As flash continues to drop, I can easily see us going back to "cartridges" in the form of SSDs instead of carts. Pirating would be an issue except for encryption.
Wauw really a great show, and respect form my. An awesome xbox 360 you made :D
Great series of shows, really aimed at the hacker at heart, I love the router you have, currently I am about to build a bigger mill and the size you have is a bit bigger than what I was going to use, the question is what is the plastic-foam you are using to prototype the cases, this stuff you are using is super cool. Just hoping I can find it in Australia.
Keep the hacking spirit alive.
why doesnt he put this stuff into production its totally amazing
That is REALLY cool!
Absolutle love your work Greetings from Norway =)
Hey Ben, I discovered your channel looking for a video about a Game Cube portable and I am now realizing that (correct me if I'm wrong) you don't have one. I really like these classic console portables and prefer them over the newer Xbox and Play Station portables. It would be really awesome if you could make one!
That's awesome.
I don't think you can really call this a laptop, it's more of an all-in-one.
I agree with minecraft OFP857 on the gameboy cabinet but go one set further, a Nintendo gaming cabinet. featuring the 3DS, DS and Game boy games from classic to advance all in one gaming cabinet.
this is just sooo cooool!
I'm in love
not much of a console fan but man that is one sexy 360
OMG~! Consoles jsut became interesting to me! I am gonna share this! This is from the "Shut up and take my money" series!
This is currently listed on ebay. Search for "XBOX 360 - 1977 ATARI Edition"

I think it is hilarious he actually thought he would get one, that is just classic.
Pretty awesome
that was an amazing build. I want one so bad! Do you keep most of this stuff you make?
Awesome!
I love your show...^_^
:D nice. just done a project on 40 years of console history. gonna have to include this :P
@Gabbos and the tools + the space
Hello Ben, I was wondering what type of plastic you use for milling with the CNC. Thanks in advance. (Btw Love the show keep on creating)
The Xbox has a rather large CD Drive. its huge!
and please for the record you should tell us what its worth!
magnifico creation thank you!
wow that would take so much time and effort that no average person would even try to make that
Are you using Adobe Illustrator for the technical drawing?
That, was awesome
thats too awesome
I really want to make that!
This could be a TV show
How heavy was the finished product? I'd love to see it closed.
Isn´t the cable you used for the 220v of the 360 too thin? good video!
This is currently on sale on ebay, search for "XBOX 360 - 1977 ATARI Edition "
Two words. Unlimited. Budget.
i just built a case and held it in place and gave holes for air vents
I died when he brushed his monitor
If he was my woodworking teacher, that would be so cool!
Bam!! Up comes the disclaimer.
I've been working wih using cheap garden lights to charge my kindle fire, but I haven't come up with anything that looks decent yet. I'd like to incorperate the small panels into the back of the device but I don't think theres room.
dude your sick smart - this shit is nuts
Awesome
so underate...
Ben i have a question, i work for an electronics company called TT ELECTRONICS we make parts for Jet engines and Autombile engines... now recently our solder paste is drying out way faster than it should.. do you have any recommendations
this is awsome !!!!
awesome
I there any way that you could take the Atari styled Xbox, and make it's powercable compatible with a 12 volt/lighter plug in in a vehicle? I think that this styled Xbox would go perfect with my 1978 GMG truck.
What program is that? you used to make the blueprints
nice man atari contacting you? wow i wish companies like sony and others do so as well in the future :)
Why is most of the audio missing on this video?
I have the same keyboard and mouse ben... good stuff
Ive seen how invent and talent youre are, but can you please keep your vids at a constant sound level, (including the intro)?
omg i want one!!!
why not use a mirror tool and a copy tool or is that an Autocad luxury I'm just wayyyy too used too?
that is awesome i need to get/make one of those lol
i watched the whole video witout skipping.
