Heroes are always under the spotlight, savouring their fame. However, silent heroes exist. They hiding in the darkness, but we are always under their protection and they will never know fame. they choose silence instead of fame. Respect and love for all the silent heroes who take care of us.
In some places they are called "Mavericks" you will never know they are there, but they serve the people all their lives and ask nothing in return for exchanging one life for another when the time arises.

The girl bowed her head. "I know", she said.
"But despite all that you have one thing that most true knights are lacking", the old man continued. "Heart. Conviction to do what needed to be done without any promise of reward."
The girl raised her head to look up at the old man, surprised to see a look of pride on his wizened face.
"You may not ever be a knight, girl, but I can offer you the next best thing", the old man continued. "Assuming you're up to the task."
"Really?" the girl asked, eyes sparkling.
"Now make no mistake", the man said in a stern tone. "The life of a Free Knight is no easy feat. The training is harsh, the work even more so. But if what I have seen is any indication you'll do just fine." He extend his hand towards the girl. "So, are you up to the task?"
"Yes", the girl said, not hesitating as she grasped the gauntlet clad hand of the old Free Knight. "I am."
The old man smiled. "Good", he said. "Then I welcome you to the Order of the Free Knights, my new acolyte."
At the other end of the room the old knight's traveling companions watched on.
"Isn't that the sweetest thing you've ever seen?" the bowman asked. "Kind of reminds me of you at that age."
"Yeah", the shieldbearer replied with a chuckle as she took a sip from her tankard. "Poor girl, he is going to eat her alive."
