Brilliant piece of kit, and the built in physical controls make all the difference. So much more convenient than carrying a separate gamepad around and then wondering where to put the tablet while you hold the pad. It plays a really nice game of GTA San Andreas too. About to record a video of that for my Playing Android Badly channel.
Thanks for the video, thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered mine a few days ago, I've been watching UA-cam videos to tide me over until then. Bought it to replace my JXD S5110b, which I loved. Looking forward to the larger screen!
I'm definitely a fan of emulation. Having the original hardware is great, but I just ain't got the time to set them up anymore. I have MAME and a MegaDrive emulator in my iPhone, but this JXD definitely looks like a perfect one-stop-shop, with quality hardware!
I bought one of these purely on the strength of Steve Benways review and its an awesome piece of kit it really is. Out Run, Wonder Boy, Psychic 5 and many many more all running perfect via m.a.m.e. Every Retro gamer fan should have one, I got mine from Funstock, cracking service.

Yeah love mine, emulation is fantastic and built in controls are awesome, I too have been really enjoying Dreamcast andf PSX games, even my older JXD s7300 plays PSX games flawlessly to my surprise but my s7800 is currently my go to handheld. I am not as much into the newer games or Android platform games so I did not need a Nvidia Shield so much, I like this devices screen size as my eyes are getting worse I really do not want a screen below 7' these days.
Wow ridge racer r4 does look good. Almost looks as good as GT on the PSP. Really impressive Speaking of which, were you ever able to get Gran Turismo 1 or 2 working on the JXD?
Sega Rally would be ace but I fear it may never happen. The complex twin Hitachi SH2 architecture hasn't lent itself well to stable emulation so far but you never know.

GAPPS = Google Apps. You can get Android with or without the set of Google supported apps. GMail, Maps, etc. Looking at the specs the battery shows it has a good capacty, 5000mAh. Good stuff.

I have a shield tablet and love it but my question is how much are each emulator games? ?? Most of these games I remember when I was a kid now it brought me nostalgia. Can anyone answer? Could these emulators be played on a psp which I already have or my tablet? If not I guess I'll lurches one of these jxd. Thanks for the review

Sure I'm a bit busy with edits over Christmas but I'll put some time in. The DC is tricky and a bit unstable but I hear Metropolis Street Racer runs perfectly so we'll wait and see. I've tested Powerstone 2, that ran at 30fps, Streetfighter 3rd strike was perfect. Ikaruga wasn't always working right but when it did, 20-30fps.
Still my favorite for everything up to and including DREAMCAST. Just amazing. Only might be hard pressed to find one these days, it is supposedly surpassed by the GPD XD but my aging eyes and big fumbly hands will take this over that any day. One of the best reviews for this ANDROID based devices with many platforms tested. HONESTLY this device with the big bright 7' screen and great sound is why I have ZERO interest in things like AtGames Atari or 2600 handhelds with those tiny screens , incompatibilities, horrid sound etc. So many litte annoyances overlooked JUST for the sake of having an "official" license / logo for companies that barely exist outside of an copyright / IP licensed to crap hardware producers like AtGames :p

When you have time, do an Amiga emulating the greats... Super cars 1 + 2 Lotus 1 2 3 Stunt car racer? I think it's a polygonal racer on a roller coaster track? There's also this other racing game with an xj220 jag I think and you could place bets on the out come of your races can't remember name though... If this thing can do all Amiga games all snes games and more then lll get one... But sounds like stability and performance depends on you tweaking parameters which i don't want to faff around with before every game? If this is as good as it can potentially be then I don't think I'll need a ps4 yet until gt7 or gt8 or until the ps4 can suddenly play everything this can play? How have I never heard of this thing?! It's like a dream handheld wish the vita allowed you to do all this.... How does this compare with iPad level of usability? Actually come to think about is this thing legal? Playing games from all different devices should I even ask? I really want one too!

What's GAPPS? Battery seems to hold up well, I would turn off Wi Fi when gaming to extend the life. But in general I haven't had an issues with it.

Hmmm difficult to compare but kinda like a large Gameboy d-pad. Takes some getting used to initially but when you're dialled in its fine.

That will depends on the type of emulation you use, if its processor heavy you'll probably much the battery. Personally I've not had any issues.

It can but they vary in quality, not everything works perfectly, I'll be looking more into this at a later stage.
PSP emulation must be poor across the board then. Completely the opposite for me thankfully.
