Hey bro!! Yeah the slave infantry units were for fun. I just wanted to see how they would hold up with the disciplined shotels behind them. Great video as per usual!!
Battle outside the walls of Carrhae, 53 BC, colourized Wow. Just wow. I was a little preoccupied when I saw an all-cavalry army, but they wrecked the Romans! I mean, they took advantage of the Romans' errors left and right, but the shock cav and the horse archers were unstoppable the entire match. The two Kush armies held their ground (the generals did a great job too) and they had the battle!
So reminiscent of what happened at Carrhae, especially when the Parthian player sallied out to surround the Roman Legionnaires and peppered them down with arrows, the Romans attempted an orderly retreat but were being harassed by the constant cycle charge of the Cataphract units
I mean, by losing this one, the noobish players surely learned so many things. Hopefully they will see this video, so they will get even the explanations on what they did wrong.
Yep thats how you beat heavy infantry spam. The shotel units from that latest dlc are pretty stupid tho. Romans (newbie player or not) have enough weaknesses, their heavy infantry should not be one of them.
@@ludovicomichelangeli1908 rome never took middle east ever. their worst defeat was by parthian hands when rome out numbered persians 4 to 1. some year later when rome was divided sassanids were making the east rome crushed but arab tribes revolted and forced persians to bring back their men to their own soil. who knows maybe if arabs didn't force persians back rome would fall in sassanid hands.
When the Roman player formed like a box to save his archers and the Parthian horse archer cav started shooting at the Roman infantry and archers it was looking like the battle of Carhae Parthia vs the Roman empire
When one of my friends first started playing this game he always choose Rome and would just get a full army of the best infantry he could without any variety, and would just poor in column formation as well.
The fact that partia didnt run them down before they got into the city or just hold that army in place and split some forces off to attack the rear of the other armies that also didnt bring much anti cav was really frustrating to watch cause partia seemed to be pretty competent
I think the Parthian player was trying to force the Romans to bunch up, which worked very well. Take into account the massive amount of javies the slave infantry and shotel warriors used along with the anti armor of Kush and Rome didn't really last long enough. It was a gamble and like choosing an all cav army it payed off. Yes Kush lost all it's slave infantry and a good chunk of it's archers but Rome practically lost two armies at the start of the fight.
The only reason I kept watching was parthia. I do understand that the other players might be newer and all but it's kinda unbearable at some parts from the point of a viewer that wants entertainment. Still good video though. Thanks apollo!
The Roman players overestimated their faction too much. Even though Rome surely is one of the very powerful faction in the game, it doesn't mean they're invincible, especially when the enemies are full of units capable of neutralizing Roman heavy infantry units.
Great play by the Parthians..not only did he destroy nearly a whole Roman army while loosing only 20 horses in the beginning, but also his rear charges broke so many units inside and outside the city that it cannot be measured in actual kills. Also the generals for the Kush armies did a great job in that sense routing enemy units all the time
Rome vs Parthia calvary: Best bet after the syrian archers died was to form 2 columns in testudo (increases mass = reduce effectiveness of the charge) and push towards the nearest tortoise gap, that way if they get charged from the sides it'll be less painfull and you have nearby units to support. Rome vs Kush: Dunno just try to NOT engage shotel warriors head on and on columns xd Great battle either way, the initial calvary charge was intimidating AF!
if rome did that Vs parthia, parthai would send his horse archers both sides on heavy shot and slaughter roman flank and if they wanted to react, cataphract chard them before they reorganized their line and again they would be slaughtered. when you lose your carv and range troops you'll be slaughter by cataphracts and ther in noway to prevent that
@@yousefzayabi37 Nah they didn't have enough ammo after fighting off the syrian archers and the testudo would've minimized the effect of the heavy shot. Still, you would loose some man but I bet ya you wold've been able to make it to the wall gap!

no one ever uses Parthia anymore in battles so big ups to the Parthian players... the Irani factions are extremely underwhelming in the game and its a dam shame . Thanks for the video .... been following your content
That's because in this time period they were underwhelming as far as infantry goes since the Empire was a desert empire, demanding light infantry who can move fast to avoid water supplies running out. But, the flip side is that in field battles and defensive sally-outs, their Cav is the best
Yeah... A very well fought battle. I thought rome might still win before they split up that outer force that was being hit by the cav from start of battle... When they split the force and tried to hunt the cav (that move way faster) rather than move the forces up as you had even pointed out... That's when I knew. They still did really well, and had those forces made it to safety, they would have secured that upper flank with walls and towers, and could have rained down hell on the defenders. I do like to see MASSIVE piles of soldiers all in choke points like that, some truly epic battles in the whole siege.... I hope to see some more of that. I wonder... What is the maximum amount of troops one can see in a siege? Is it possible to see 350k attack carthage with 175k defenders? Something like that? Maybe do a Troy scenario where no wall busters are allowed, fighting must be done outside the gates.... But a flanking force can come around sneakily and secure a gate to allow an attacker victory...?
