While alto trombone is not commonly used and is difficult to learn, there's no denying that that sound is gorgeous! Looking forward to hearing more alto from you.
Middle and high schoolers just got released so expect a spike in views.
I switched completely from tenor to alto bone years ago and have not looked back. In 99% of gigs they don’t know the difference. As long as you’re playing first of second part you’re good to go. Yes, if you want to play it exclusively you have to relearn the positions in bass clef, but for me it was worth it!
Love the song selection!!! Beautiful!
Hey Chris, if you're looking for a cheap and decent alto horn to learn on I recommend the Moz Eb alto. It performs very well for the cost of under 200 dollars. I bought one because of altobone's review of the Yamaha YSL671 vs. the Moz.
How is it now?
I’ll have to finish this after I teach this lesson BUT I do see that sexy BAC on the wall too ;)
I need to go back and watch the tenor video again to maybe make some recommendations to students

7:53 that was me in college trying to play Symphony No 9 in the orchestra haha
Yay! 😃😃😃👏👏👏
Hey, this great content!
I gotta say though I've played on the JPRath horns and I'm definitely a fan but I'm also becoming a fan of DF Music and Rich I called to ask about mouthpieces and he is definitely a super nice guy 👌🏻 10/10 would recommend
He's the real deal!! He's always trying to help musicians get what they need and never doing typical predatory business tactics that get in the way when you're trying to find answers!!
@@classicaltrombone I'd have to add you are also the real deal always helping your fellow trombonists and other musicians you rock my dude
What do you think of JP136 VS the 236?
I want one!!!!
Do they make french horns though?
You bet they do! Student model as low as $500, the JP-Rath top model $2,600. www.jpmusicalinstruments.com/prod/john-packer-jp261-rath-double
What kind of mouthpiece do you use for alto trombones? I assume it's a bigger receiver than a horn, does it accept a regular tenor mouthpiece?
Regular tenor small bore! I use whatever it came with... their version of a 12C I guess?
6 3/4C is a popular alto mouthpiece
Wow
Did you buy the alto, Chistopher? If so, more alto videos, please.
IS THAT THE VIRGINIA STATE SONG?!
Top trombone
All JP/Raths are very fine instruments!
You should try using a thomann soprano trombone
Can you do truth hurts by lizzo please
I use a gear4music.com alto that I bought for under $175 new. Works great other than the tuning is a little sharp so the tuning slide will come most of the way out to be in tune. I bought my bass from there for $300 too that is also very good for the price. Slides on both are very smooth compared to all of the other Chinese horns I have used like Schiller, mendini, prelude, and ammoon. Slide and triggers are both better than my prelude by bach intermediate model tenor.
