As a photographer (me) I must say I have noticed a big improvement on your drone clips. They are now more and more cinematic and have a good speed; allowing us to see the vastness of where you are... the beauty of it all. dude! This is great improvement. You will notice that shooting a drone video away from the sun produces better videos than shooting while facing the sun... Now add a few things; show us your gear, what you pack for such trips, how you sleep in the camps, what you cook, etc etc... Good job and may God grant you the desires of your heart. Cheers!!
@96 LOST good job. I love such drives where you get lost and still stick to the objective. I suggest you add interviews with the locals for a little spice. Regards.
Since you are doing masinga dam, this is the time to cover the 7 folk dams at this time when they are spilling with water. take us to each of the 5 dams, show us the beautiful mighty spills that are happening now when there is heavy rain. Masinga is one of the dams so that's covered the rest are Kamburu is the second, Gitaru is the third, Kindaruma is the fourth and Kiambere is the last. I have seen a few video clips and the spills are amazing. Tell us the history of each dam. With drone shots this would make an epic video. Any youtuber worth their game would race to capture these dams and film the magical spills. I posted this on here because you have a series on dams from Lake Baringo to now this and thought you would make the best coverage as this one. This coverage is cinematic and makes you fill you are there on the journey as you take us through the roads and pathways closeup on how to get there.
Hey, thanks for the suggestions. Most of the hydroelectric generation points usually prohibit filming. Getting permits is usually a lengthy process. And it could cost close to 30K The best you can get is a video of the spillway from a distance. I'll visit all the dams soon. But the full features of the hydro electric processes and the dam wall + spillways will have to wait until this channel generates enough revenue to pay for the permits.
Awesome one of the best of you expounding videos of ukambani,,,,,mavoloni my home town those mountains are very rich with minerals and unexploited Gold although some individual miners have been secretly mining them
This place will always be home,,,,am proud to have got the chance to grow up here..the old good days,,,,,i must admit though i hated the place back then,,,,as as a akid i used to wonder why are we living in such a remote area.with only one bus to and from nairobi you must have seen somewhere in kwandolo it was on its way from nairobi. I never used ride in it because i did not have alot of relatives to visit in nairobi but seeing it everyday always gave me hopes of geting out of that place. And it also used to give us free rides to school on surtadays ...kikule secondary school was where i was shaped. I wish i could go back in time and enjoy the serene environment as a little village girl with nothing to worry about.
Wonderful concept and video. These are some of the areas that people wonder how they would visit. Additional would add great value; for example, that Masinga Dam is the greatest man-made lake in East and Central Africa, that the Dam was built and is operated by TARDA, which would explain the sparse settlement, that the dam is intended for irrigation and power generation, etc. By coming up with this vlog, I guess you are creating awareness on the potential of this area for tourism, farming and other economic activities if the infrastructure was improved. Keep up.
Through this video i can categorically say we've got a very beautiful and natural land such that we could be the ones feeding all arab deserted countries and other parts of the world with food if only we had visionary leaders.
I love adventure and if there is one thing that makes it worth,is getting lost and later finding yourself to your intended destination, trust me you never forget that..
Spectacular views.. especially by the dam ... however you could have saved precious time and lots of fuel if you could have made proper use of your drone to scan the nearest viable route to the dam just like birds eye view.. Google map wont tell you of broken bridge or unused routes
So epic Adventures you're making. Cheers. Though I've a suggestion 96 lost, how about you'be spicing up your destination points maybe by having a seat and a snack, some work outs, a little chill, etc. Cheers!!!
Good point. I support. We hardly see him relax and take in the sights at his destinations. It'd also be better if he gives a sneak peek of his sleeping arrangements. Driving all through is somehow monotonous. That notwithstanding, we enjoy the videos and the unique insights into alternative destinations.
Ndugu, remember the photos of the Expedition RV I shared with you pale Twirra? Maze nakuombea your money becomes right so that you would own such a rig, and travel across this our beautiful Republic. I live my dream thru your videos bro. Ubarikiwe sana maze. Keep up the good work. Of all the Kenyan travel vlogs, yours is the best.
Wow. masinga is so beautiful and huge. These sites should be tourists sites. Also have boat rides, fishing, water sports etc. Thank you for this you are showing us a part of Kenya many of us never seen. Also your tenacity to find the place at all cost was impressive. Inlcuding the close up shots of your driving making it feel we are part of the ride. Driving through road paths was adventurers. I am going to check out the rest of your vids plus I have subed to all your vlogs.
This is epic with epic shots!Been to masinga dam but never been by this route, i always get through their main gate then go up the 'crazy stairs' to get a view of the dam. No longer want to be the single independent lady, needs a travel buddy.😝 Me thinks!
I couldn't find any camp sites. But I'm sure the locals could let you know yoy camp next to the dam. The most direct route is the one I used on my way back. Use garissa road and turn off at Ngoliba
You are using a world renowned vehicle that is a favorite for off-roading I see them being used in Australia and the middle east the new one is so good especially with the automatic gear nice vlog
Hey bro, through your videos I live my dream life, your videos are refreshing. Every weekend, I must join in, watch it, comment and like. Keep the fire lit.
Good work brother, only that the journey took a better part of the video than the actual dam exploration. Otherwise you're doing a great job, taking us to places we would otherwise never have made it to . I've always read about the dam in the books but never had an opportunity to actually set my eyes on it. Now I know. Please continue showing us around this beautiful country of our and hopefully beyond the borders 👍👍.
You the first guy to put Kamaimba on the map😂 Google maps can really waste you this place. You also happened to visit during the rainy season. Not a good time. The best route is Gateigoro-Junction-Mukovo-Manyatta-Kikule-Kamaimba Kitini - Tana was good until that bridge was swept away.
Is there reason why there is no horticultural activities or even cattle raring I saw only one ox, what is going on here I thought it is only in Nyanza people don't do farming in spite of availability of water or they are waiting for the rain.
Thumbs up for the master oogway comment. Edit* Killer drone shots. Especially that dam transition. Edit 2* Just getting to the end of the video and the shots kept getting better.
The Nairobi - Thika -Kenol- Makutano - Karatina - Nyeri highway it is. Recently dualed in some section. Not a new road though. It's the gateway to Mt.Kenya region.
Explore Lodwar to Lokitang, (Ethiopia) Lodwar to Nadapal (South Sudan), and Isiolo to Moyale (Ethiopia) Etc. Not enough coverage for 2 expansive counties but better than KANU days. Hopefully more will be done across the country.

Hi 96, finally figured out the last part of your handle/name. Most of the episodes I have watched you have to get lost to find your way!!
😂😂😂Yes, I never fully plan my routes, I just pick a destination and go.
The place you found the first bridge, that's my home town, " kwandolo", good job
Nice place 🙌
Thank you.

@96 LOST good job. I love such drives where you get lost and still stick to the objective. I suggest you add interviews with the locals for a little spice.

And also consult them on the state of the road. They could have saved him a lot of time.
God must be enjoying the views from above.

I love adventure and if there is one thing that makes it worth,is getting lost and later finding yourself to your intended destination, trust me you never forget that..
Yes it's always worth it.
You could have used the thika garisa road, then right turn at kanyonyoo(embu junction) , straight to kivaa then a right turn to the dam.
Yes, but I was going to that specific place, and I wanted to follow as close to the dam as possible.
Yes tana road was the shortest bt due to the Rains you couldn't make it its 27 kilometers from kitini to milaani
Spectacular views.. especially by the dam ... however you could have saved precious time and lots of fuel if you could have made proper use of your drone to scan the nearest viable route to the dam just like birds eye view.. Google map wont tell you of broken bridge or unused routes
Man what do you use to charge your equipments on this long trips cause car chargers are really slow
I have a secondary battery and an inverter.
But you can get the tiny inverter that plugs into the cigarette port. Those work as well.
So epic Adventures you're making. Cheers.
Though I've a suggestion 96 lost, how about you'be spicing up your destination points maybe by having a seat and a snack, some work outs, a little chill, etc.

Awesome Video ….You should have camped there by the lake at least for one night.
I didn't carry any camping gear. Was just winging it.
I have found my favourite type of content, already subscribed
Thank you 🙌🙌
This is great. Good you didn't give up despite most of the routes ending up impassable.
Which type drone model are you using?
Thank you.
Dji air series.
Well noted.. thank you.
I would join in your trips buy i don't have a jalopy 😊.
My Audi A4 aint built for off-road

🤣🤣 Yes
Is there a camping spot by the dam? How long to get there and which is the most direct route?
I couldn't find any camp sites.
But I'm sure the locals could let you know yoy camp next to the dam.
The most direct route is the one I used on my way back.
Use garissa road and turn off at Ngoliba
Not sure about time coz I went back and forth for a while.
The best route is Nairobi Matuu Masinga
Masinga Resort might have camping options, but remember there exists such threats as Hippos and Crocs.
what are about those people surrounding by the water. they should vacate to avoid disastrous.
Hongera sana,i once walked by foot from masinga boys, only to find a police station @ the entry. This video has bypassed me well.Keepup bro
Thank you. Will do 🙌🙌
You may use Matuu Ekalakala road the easiest way to go there
That was splendid. Keep it up
Thank you 🙌🙌
Wheres the dam wall.? Workers must have easy access to the dam to perform work.
It's on the other side, there's a small tarmac road

I appreciate that, thank you. 🔥
Out of curiosity, how deep might this place be at position 2:29 that a boat is used?
The guy I asked said it was like a meter deep.
You must had a long day but at the end of it all the watching the sunset is was breathtaking experience.
Wueh...that pilot is a no go zone..thanks

Wow, visited this place in 2017,but on a study trip on power generation.
Nice, I'll visit that other side of the dam in future.
just for clarity the dam is the barrier blocking the rivers flow. The RESERVOIR is the body of water that forms behind it.
Yes.
But saying Masinga Reservoir sound weird.

Hey, I enjoy your videos, which drone and gopro do you use?
Dji air 2s drone. Got it a while back, there are newer models with better functionality.
And Gopro 11
Thanks brother
Good though shallow information about the dam
so what was the wasting of fuel all about???
Discovering new places
Wah, it has taken nearly half of the video to find the dam, kwani how pathetic are our roads?
Thank God you had a fourwheelled car...😮😮
