We need to invest so much on dams like these so as to irrigate as many lands as possible in order to keep famine at bay in this country. Its too shameful that in a country ever blessed with rainfall year in year out,we are unable to feed our people simply becoz of poor leadership.Importing food stuffs and food commodities should be the last thing to ever think of as a country.Well done our former president Uhuru Kenyatta.Your legacy lives on.
Your work is epic sir and professional as well.. I always look forward to new documentaries from this channel, good to see our country marching forward, keep up the good work, bravo!!
Great segment Kenyan Historian. The dam is a great infrastructure development for Kenya but why didn't they install turbines in the pipes to generate electricity?
I'm impressed by your documentaries. I follow many channels like Free Documentary, Spark, Nat Geo, BBC, Discovery .. I love this one for giving local content.
Congratulations to all that made it possible from the government to the locals to the guys who fed the works there , things that make me love my country.
Have the locals of karimenu benefited from the dam especially those down stream of the river and those sorrounding it like Kariua, kanjuku, Kanyoni and Kamwangi
Thank you sir. I really appreciate your support. We have our line where anyone ameguswa can help support our productions. The reason some take long is because they are capital intensive and we are yet to get stable sponsors.
Masinga dam has not/did not break or burst, its just reached its highest level of fullness. It's just letting out excess water from the rains using the spillway which was designed for that purpose. The dam itself is still structurally sound. Its just that spillway is very ferocious in releasing the massively excess water that it has received.
What is so sad is if we have the local expertise to do such a dam, plus with all the chinese projects knowledge and skills transfer from ports, housing, rails, bridges, roads, dams Kenya should be able to do their own projects using their own experts. If we have an ambitious govt this is what the govt should be doing is to build the capacity of local talent. get all those involved in all these projects and form a Kenya roads and bridge construction company to build all of Kenyas infrastructure Plus combined with NYS and KDF expertise in infrastructure development, kenya can be capable of even getting contracts from other African countries to build their infrastucter. We are already get contracts from African countries to develop their geothermal fields because over decades we have built our own capacity to develop geothermal fields, why not also in construction industry.. Why not have one dedicated school of engineering teaching from A to z of construction.
The people also have a responsibility to see what govts trying to do and step up and learn to do the difficult things. Why should it always be the government. In the west people see a need and pool resources to investigate and try to plug that need by learning , experimenting planning and building. That's how these countries got so powerful. Smart determined citizens
This is what we want not 50 CASs and the maandamano nonsendse. anyway. politicins only serve their interests and those of close allies. we could be now speaking of the government working on constructing 10 dams in the next 2 years along major rivers and several small dams in the northern corridor to mitigate the drought

Why do they reinforce steel pipes with concrete? How will they do repairs in the future.
Desalination of ocean water is also a n option.
It is super expensive compared to building dams and also restricted by international laws
Very very expensive....
@@derricknyongesa5536 my friend to hell with international law, kenya is a sovereign country, we should prioritize our people first, then the rest after
