Good tips Simon. And self evident really. Although I still make mistakes and forget them. 😆

Cheers Neville, this was made for non-photographers really, who might use their phones 🙂 Regular programming photography to resume soon 😅

Thanks, glad this might help in some way. The first Camino anyone experiences is truly magical. Are you walking the Frances? And a second already! Which one? I hope you have a wonderful adventure on The Way... Buen Camino!

Thanks for sharing ! Couple of videos back you mentioned just having brought along a Z50 and 35mm (Meike ?) on the camino. Were you happy with that setup in hindsight ? Also some photos in this video appear to have been taken with a longer focal length - are these crops or did you take a tele lens after all ? Thx, Jens

Hi! Yes, my main set-up was a Z50 with a Meike manual focus 35mm prime. I was very happy with it. I decided last minute to also take a 50-250 kit telephoto, that I didn't use that much. I actually broke it halfway through the trip and threw it away, and didn't miss it at all. In hindsight I should have taken my Z6 and 24-70 f2.8 Nikkor. Only because of the ability to shoot better video with some internal stabilization really, as the quality of my Gopro footage was very poor.

Outstanding. Thanks for this video Simon. Almost makes me want to start my Frances again to capture it again with these tips. My other Caminos will certainly be captured better thanks to you. 😊

I kept putting it off, but so glad I finally did it. It's the best thing I've ever done,. I highly recommend it, even if it's just a section of the route.

Great tips Simon. I agree with you especially Tip No. 3. So many people never look behind and miss the wonderful early morning light. I really love your colour treatment /post-production of your images--not over done, no HDR--just right. Now I hate to ask you this but: what camera did you bring. I use an XPro 2, although I use the Peak Design clip on camera holder, I find it a bit heavy and cumbersome. For my next Camino, I am considering a point and shoot with a zoom lens (Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II) but have doubts about the quality etc as I do love the XPro 2. Great video thanks.

Thanks Tony! I took my little Nikon Z50 with me, and a tiny manual focus third-party lens for most of the shooting. I also took a light kit telephoto (50-250) which broke half way through the trip and I threw away. I wasn't using it much anyway. The camera is so light, I actually had it in my hand the entire time, something I do with all my cameras when travelling. I have a great strap, which I took in my pack, but never used it. Personally I'd take the XPro. If I could do the trip again, I would have listened to my inner voice rather than people on camino groups who keep going on about weight, and I would have taken my full frame Nikon Z6 and my 24-70 f2.8 lens. I plan on doing 2-week Camino next year, and will take it then! Buen Camino!!
