  • So I went again. I had to, I just had to, every time they come to town it feels like it might be the last chance i will get to see this specific trio and i don't want to miss that chance. I'm still teetering on whether I should go again...But either way it was amazing. of course. Let's get into it. So when we got there Chris and pino were having some technical trouble so they were still on the stage from the last show so i got a chance to ask pino about the song "zuma" which he told me became man from molise so that was really cool and the energy was great. there were definitely more low energy moments than last time and somehow i found myself drawn to chris almost more than pino. It's almost like I know pino too well. I'm not in that "drink it all in " phase anymore. Now it's more of a watch and enjoy things which are very nice. Chris used a bit of a smaller kit this time, less going on, different snares, but very similar ergonomically. I would have liked to see him with the giant hats but it was the tiny hats this time. Pino had nearly an identical setup I think and did some adjusting during the show of his preamp pedals, he also played pretty low which was a little frustrating at times. our seats were great. I wanted a good view of Chris and pino a lot more than Isaiah because what he does flies so far over my head I find myself not even watching his hands at all. Also i don't point the camera at him at all because he played facing away from the crowd (i don't think deliberately) so no one could really see what he was doing...he played the same boss multifx pedal (gt1000) i think and his use of fx is otherworldly. They were in really good spirits and Isaiah made hella jokes so that's great. I did grab his setlist and got to have a really nice conversation with pino after the show. He was very kind and fingers crossed we might have secured an interview which would be so awesome. The drummer in my band had an incredible time watching and learning from Chris and also got a nice conversation in with him after as well. also a real class act. i think i'll have to make a video about the whole thing because this is getting ridiculous.
    Gear:
Pino played a custom shop Pino Palladino p bass recently signed by someone… into an Aguilar ag700 bass head and 2 by 12 matching cab he has been using modern amps recently. But this is the blue note backline amp. He had a decked out pedalboard:
    29 pedals euna
    Boss tuner
Union tube and transistor sub fuzz
    Boss oc2
    3Leaf audio you're doom
    Mxr bass envelope filter
    Electro-harmonix bass envelope filter
    Bass Rig super vintage
I don't know if that is the order but that's what it is
Isaiah sharkey played a guitar i didn't identify into 2 fender hot rods. There were 2 Deluxes behind them as well but i don't think they were in use...

Bro, why didn't Isaiah solo over this main progression 😭. Only missing thing in original version is some badass outro guitar solo or more extended saxophone solo
