- How much does it cost to live in Bali in 2022? In this video I give insight into what you can expect to spend if you want to move here as a nomad or long-term expat.
The biggest thing to keep in mind is that if you want to find a somewhat affordable villa, it's rare to find a monthly rental. Be prepared to pay at least a year up front.
I break down the cost of living by:
Housing
Food
Staff
Electric/Wifi
Visa fees
All of the above are variable, and I also discuss how you can live for less money.
To compare, I talk about how living in Bali is not that much less expensive than living in Europe.
Your video is surely helpful for those who wish to come here! As your (new) neighbour in Kerobokan is add though that yearly rentals are now even higher than what you suggest. We’d be ecstatic if we found anything reasonable around 200M 😂
Wow I didn’t realize even Kerobokan had gotten so crazy.
so true.. things have gone up soo much in the past few months. the 200M per year is probably smaller than Adrien's villa
Hi Adrian. Thanks most interesting. As always ❤ Having just taken out a new lease on an older villa great to hear your estimates. One thing you did not factor in is maintenance as there’s usually some form everyday! If you shop at the supermarkets the prices are equivalent to Australia or Europe in some cases higher Petrol has gone up by almost 30%. The overall cost of living is running about the same as Australia now. Except eating out here maybe slightly less depending on the alcohol consumption. 😊. I would also say your estimates for a decent villa in Canggu is on the very conservative side there’s very few under $30;000 plus A new chapter ahead for you by the sound. Exciting x
I don’t spend much on maintenance but it is an on-going expense and necessity as you mentioned. Canggu prices are crazy now 😳
What an informative and well rounded presentation, great job!
Thanks Adrien I love the still shot for this video i.e. you leaning on your Vespa with a cream/white beautiful suit on Moving to Europe Exciting! Culture so different to Bali
Thanks for this in-depth video. Just a note on the Social/Business visa (that I think most digital nomads use). The price has gone up substantially this year. The initial cost is about the same as before, between $350 and $500 dollars (Australian), but the extension cost has increased a lot. It used to be between 500-800k per month for an extension (after an initial 60 days) and that is now 2.8 million for a two month extension. So about $1000 for 6 months.
Great video and information again. I hope people take notice and think about it and plan for 12 months minimum. I have bailed out a couple people that thought it was $1 a day or something stupid. I am looking at Malaysia in KL in particular but prices have gone up 50% on monthly rentals as well. I have said before Bali is pricing themselves out of the market sadly and that will hurt the whole economy and people. In saying that I rent out units in Australia and the managers have put up the prices but only about 10% so I should not complain about other prices going up. Just looking at a visit in December or January (after Vietnam) again so hope all good. 🙏👍
Great info, as always! 🙂
When it comes to food one advantage of living in Europe is that you can still have nice Asian meals for maybe more than the Bali prices but you can get the the European stuff like huge for variety of sausages and cheese, and other European delicacies for much much less than on Bali. Basically on Bali you have to stick to Asian food otherwise it's very expensive.
I never cooked in Bali either. It’s less expensive if you eat out in my opinion. Finding a good laundry service is hard in Bali. I use to get my whites back looking gray or dirtier than what I dropped it at. Yes, most places you have to pay electricity. I used to keep the air con all the time, so it was usually high for me. I think a social visa for me was about $155 before arriving in Bali. I had to get a letter from a sponsor, send a bank statement etc. That was only good for 6 months. Yes, travel insurance is important. Yeah, Bali is not that cheap! Everyone thinks it’s dirt cheap but it’s not. It’s probably cheaper than where they are coming from. I think Vietnam is cheaper in regard to lodging. I usually rented a room in a Home Stay because it was less expensive and I didn’t need to pay for the year, but monthly. I was never there, I was always traveling to other islands, and to other countries. Yes, the price of a scooter was 750,000 IDR in 2019. I imagine the price has gone up by now.
You are moving to Europe for good? Wow, yeah! I loved Bali but it can get stagnant after a while. I think after I lived there for a while, the shine wore off, and it became boring for me. I was happy to leave when I did, which was one week before they discontinued flights in/out of Bali.
I can definitely see you in Madrid. So pleased for you regarding the Spain/Portugal move. Wonderful countries and amazing lifestyle.
I do miss Spain. I used to visit regularly when I lived in England. Now, in Australia, it’s obviously harder to visit so often.
Best of luck with all the organisation for your relocation.
Can’t wait!
Thx! Good reality check!
Planning on moving my family here. 2 kids private schools villa and live in nanny. Can do under 100k a year easy
Hello Adrien from CA. Great video & Bueno Suarte di Spain or Portugal. Beautiful, creative
life you have in Bali but better social life in Europe. Your only young once, live & enjoy!
🎂
You can buy grocery for food cook at home sometimes your Helper can cook but i don't know in case of your Helper, Indonesian Helper are can do anything beside cleaning, i was have Helper in the family but right now i am cook by myself 😁, it also can reduce your cost of food maybe just for breakfast or lunch and dinner you can go out but it's all coming back to you
What camera do you use for content it’s amazing 😍😍
In Spain, wi-fi , cost around 60€ a month, and housekeeping around 12-15€ for an hour
You nailed it! Another great video.🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Get a B211a visa its good for 180 days you can renew it without leaving Indonesia.
Hi Adrian if you move to europe would you still keep your company running in bali or start a new company in europe, sorry not trying to pry it's a genuine question of what happens in that circumstance, thanks
Just our of curiosity-can a person live in Bali with 1000$ per month? Like, all expenses included? Without any luxurious or special lifestyle, just simple. I was calculating before your video around 400-500 for accommodation, 300-400 for food and rest can be visa, would that be enough?
Indonesians live on a lot less than that so i guess anything is possible depending on how you are willing to live
Expensive or cheap the cost of living in an area is relative depending on how a person's lifestyle is, what people say is expensive maybe some people say it's cheap.....😁
in Berawa or central canggu your villa would be USD$2000++ now. still good deal compared to NYC or something. but can't be delusional..
Thanks what do you mean it's dangerous there . I want to know more about health care
The roads are bad and accidents can happen easily, especially during rainy season
@@ChatGayPT wow thanks for letting me know. So what about the public transportation Uber taxi buses trains do they normally get in accidents regularly for these on scooters
Okay if your business income supports this lifestyle, no criticism.
In the normal world who has servants and cleaning staff and never Cooks for themselves?
Personally I think this is a completely delusional way to live one's life. And if you go through hard times unexpected it's going to be one hell of a shock. Anyway thanks for the video and I found the comments section very informative
Coming from the US. I'm having trouble getting around the idea that he lives in a luxury villa with servants and never cooks for just under 30K a year... that would be poverty wages in most places in the US. On top of that, he is saying this is expensive. lol
Hello
Thanks for the valuable information
I would like to ask you about few things
Can we talk on any of the social media apps
I’m not a consultant and these videos are for entertainment purposes only.
yes bali is cheap if you are indonesian.. lol
Bali has become progressively more expensive in the last few years. Accommodation and food have had the biggest rises in the past 5 to 7 years. It's still reasonably priced, but it's no longer cheap. Having been to Bali over 20 times in the past 20 or so years, it was a no brainer to go to Bali once or twice a year, but with the prices as they are now, and how they'll no doubt continue to rise in the future, Bali is no longer a great "bang for your buck" place to go. Inevitably prices go up and most people are aware and understand this, but if you want a cheap holiday, Bali has nearly priced itself out of consideration, especially when you factor in airfares, so what was once a cheap holiday is no longer that cheap. For similar prices Thailand and Vietnam are definitely worth consideration. Great food and amazing culture. I love Bali, but if they're not careful, they could lose a lot of potential visitors to other SE Asian countries.
How will that effect the locals?
@@michaelcooke8665 how will what affect locals?
Bali expensive
The cheap Bali is long time gone! People who say that Bali is cheap they are lying !
